@@InsaneCuriosity Two questions: 1. How did the planets get their initial force to start going around the sun? 2. What makes the earth rotate on its axis?

The Earth's orbit is elliptical but not because gravity is stronger the closer you are to the sun. It's elliptical because the original forces that set the Earth in motion made it so.

Eliiptical orbits are a direct result of gravitional force being proportional to 1/r^2. Original position and velocity determine the details of the elliptical orbit.

heliocentrism was first discovered in ancient India way before 1473. they never believed in geocentric theory. from the beginning of Vadas and Upanishad, they knew that the earth was revolving around the sun and not the other way around. they also knew that the Earth was spherical in shape since they called the study of the Earth (geography) bhūgola which has the literal meaning of bhū = earth and gola = sphere btw I am not Indian

hey dude, Under the heliocentric model, as the earth travels around the sun, each day the earth will be a little less than one degree further in its orbit from the previous day. That means that every 6 months the earth will be 180 degrees in its orbit around the sun and be opposite the sun from where it was 6 months earlier. There is a problem with this model. Let us assume that we begin our observation of the sun at 12:00 noon in New York on September 22nd. Each solar day is precisely 24 hours in length. According to the heliocentric model, every 24 hour day, the earth is supposed to do an exact 360 degree spin on its axis and end up at the same place. At the same time, each day the earth has travelled a little less than one degree of the 360 degree orbit around the sun. that means that after 6 months, 12:00 noon in New York will arrive during the middle of the dark night on March 21st. To recap, 12:00 noon arrives in the middle of the day in New York on our start day on September 22nd. The heliocentric theory requires the earth to be at the opposite side of the sun 6 months later. Consequently, New York will be on the dark side of the earth facing away from the sun at 12:00 noon on March 21st. in New York, therefore, on March 21st, 12:00 noon should arrive during the middle of the night. Under the heliocentric model, this occurrence should happen year-in and year-out, every year. We know, however, that does not happen, which means the heliocentric model is wrong.

Good question, had me puzzled for a minute too but I looked it up and it’s actually an easy answer. One full rotation on our axis is actually 23hrs, 56minutes and change. That extra almost 4 minutes or so is the time it takes to account for the 1ish degree of rotation the earth has traveled around the sun in that day. Keeps day and night uniform and noon is always the time of day when the Sun is highest in the sky. Answers are out there brother.

From the illustration you showed, the exoplanet was too small to have an exomoon that far away. You said another planet couldn't share an orbit because they would eventually crash into each other. I know we look at other Solar Systems working like our own. Is it possible that another planet is the same distance from its sun, but at a different level? Above or below the other planet's orbit?

Just an FYI "The Ancient Greeks primarily learned from the civilizations of Egypt and Mesopotamia; Greek thinkers often traveled to Egypt to study their advanced knowledge in fields like astronomy, mathematics, and medicine, building upon existing knowledge to develop their own sophisticated philosophical and scientific culture". I know this gets omitted alot when explaining where the greeks would have gotten their ideas from.

It is a balancing act of motion. It is something to do with the escape velocity of the earth. It is lower than needed to escape the gravitational field of the sun. At the same time the orbital velocity is fast enough not to be pulled into it.

Ive watched a few videos and their comments are turned off because they think summer is because of the tilt and they NEVER DISCUSS that the revolution of the Earth during summer is closer to the sun and not the tilt. Sure it affects the north and south pole but the tilt is not the reason for seasons. The revolution during summer is closer to the sun.
@InsaneCuriosity
@InsaneCuriosity 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The tilt of the Earth is actually what causes the seasons, not just its distance from the Sun. The Earth is closer to the Sun during some parts of the year, but it's the tilt that creates the differences in temperature and sunlight that we experience as summer and winter.

our Sun is Binary with Sirius A,B,C in which we have a 26,800year orbit, being drawn towards Sirius for 12,400years, and away again for 12,400 years. This is the ages, as our Suns output varies, with more energy as we get closer, less as we move away. This is the explanation of the Golden age, and the Dark age. We have just turned the corner, now moving towards Sirius again, heading back to the Golden Age.....more light, more life energy.

I was always wondering about the fact which earth moves orbiting the sun, how do astronauts fly out to the space exiting the earth could come back so casually without them getting left behind since the earth is the one that actually moves, does it make sense to you guys? I need a logic explanation about this😵
@josephwodarczyk977

OK so let's say you're in a moving car, and you drop a pen. What will happen? The pen will fall straight down. It won't be attached to the car at all while it's falling, but it WILL have the same 60 MPH momentum as the car. So it'll just fall the same as if you dropped it on your couch at home. Astronauts are the same way. It doesn't matter whether you're stuck to the earth or not. The planet is only moving because of momentum (there is no air in space, so moving things literally never slow down), and the astronauts still have that same momentum with or without the earth. So they still orbit the sun in the same way.
