Why Does This Vehicle Exist In SpongeBob?

In the Season 5 episode of SpongeBob SquarePants titled “Boat Smarts”, the episode is a parody of driving safety videos that showcase the driving habits of Squidward Tentacles, a driver with boat smarts, and SpongeBob, a driver without boat smarts. Most of the comedy in this episode stems from Squidward being the receiving end of collateral damage due to SpongeBob’s poor driving skills, and the various types of slapstick that come from it. There was this one scene in the episode that involves SpongeBob rear-ending Squidward which causes him to fly out of his boat, only to be crushed by a spiky steamroller. Also called, “The Contraption.” This makes me wonder. Why would a vehicle like this even exist in the first place? I have two possible theories as for why a vehicle like this would exist in the SpongeBob universe. For both of these reasons, I will be using bits and pieces from other SpongeBob episodes as evidence for my claims, as well as quotes from the show’s creators. Enjoy!

Professional Actor here: In each sentence of your script underline or highlight the most important word in that sentence. When you're speaking while reading from the script make sure you put emphasis on all the underlined/highlighted words. Also be aware of the intonation of your voice at the end of sentences. You are dropping intonation more than you need and elongating the last word in each sentence which is what is giving the audio a "Burger King Foot Lettuce" type feel. I hope this helps!

What I did for my Aren’s Archive videos (which were college presentations) was to read the script a couple times to get myself accustomed to it, then record after I think it sounds natural. If I hear myself mess up or slip into an “obviously scripted” voice, I cut the recording and save it, then start a new recording 1 or 2 sentences before the part I messed up at. In the end I edit the takes together to create what I believe to be the most coherent voiceover. Then the video editing begins… (I like your video style btw!)

Well, after dealing with tons of speech issues from surgery complications, don't sweat it too much. You're completely clear and concise. But if you feel like it isn't *you,* then perhaps get someone in the room to listen to you. Or even just someone on discord on your phone, in an earbud as you record. Hearing someone prompt you with little nods, or uh-huhs can really make inflections happen naturally.

My theory is that the roads we see in Spongebob aren't actually paved asphalt, as it would never dry being that they're under the ocean. So instead, it's all gravel and this machine is specifically used to even out the roads. The arm holding both cylinders looks like it could extend further, making both cylinders be on the ground. So essentially, the "Squidward Killing Machine" is actually just a Road Roller, but with spikes to deal with gravel.

A few irl vehicles it could be: -A underground mining vehicle,I forgot the name but there is a specifically low clearence mining vehicle that uses large spike adorned cylinders to grind away at rocks -a industrial snow blower mounted to a front end loader -a combine harvester -a soil compactor,basically a steamroller with spiked/bumpy rollers meant to compact loose dirt at building sites -a mine clearing tank,obvious questions there -also forgot the name,but a tractor attachment that’s used to compact loose soil as well -industrial size grass mower,possibly a front end loader mounted one -some sort or weird tractor+wood chipper combo? Ok, but hear me out What if Bikini Botton has soo many people living there on an infrequent basis and having only a "set amount" of 538, is due to it being a tourist town? I mean it has all of these wacky buildings centered around like 1 or 2 purposes, its close to the Lagoon apparently, and just like real life there are numerous real life towns with populations less than a thousands that are nothing but tourist attractions. So this is my theory on why some episodes there are thousands of people while on other episodes there is like less than a thousand, its all due to the sesoanl tourist tides. Why else does the Krusty burger get soo many customers? How on earth is the Chum Bucket still in "bsuiness?" Why do the police have a very serious no-litter policy? And why would there be a free balloon day? All of these questions could be explained by Bikini Bottom being a tourism town. 1. The Krusty Burger is owned by The Krusty Clown corporation to cash in on tourists from SpringField. 2. The Chum Bucket is still somehow in business due to "foreign" cuisine clientele, it just soo happens that we never see them, because he _has_ to be getting someone to eat there to pay for his property tax and utilities, so since chum is eaten by certain fish and other creatures, it would explain why he is still in business, and why he wants to steal the Krabbie Patty formula, since customers keep eating there during both the on and off tourist seasons and why its soo empty all the time since he most likely gets customers during specific times of the year. 3. The police obviously would have a serious no litter policy due to pressure by the mayor to keep the town "beautiful" to inctice suck...er tourists to keep being there. 4. Well free balloon day would obviously be one of the towns many tourist related events or attractions to draw in more money from tourists. Also when Sponge Bob goes to Kelp city we can see how "run down" and "depressing" it is, which much like in real life would create incentive for people to have weekend "vacations" out to the countryside. Also the jellyfish fields are possibly another close by attraction. And it would explain why Mr. Crabs is always trying new serivces/products to get a quick buck.

Also, the bad driver with no boat smarts says “Looks like you forgot your boat smarts”, to the good driver with boat smarts, which is nothing but a stinger.

This is a point hammered in by the drivers safety videos the episode is parodying and it's the aspect the episode exaggerates for comedic effect.
