My reason is a lot simpler: Kakashi early on had barely average Chakra reserves, and Flying Raijin is *expensive* as well as difficult, which is why the Flying Raijin Formation exists. This variant is used by 3 Jonin together to transport them and one other person ONCE. The cost just didn't matter to Minato or Tobirama due to their insane Chakra Pools.

Each flying raijin activation takes an immense amount of chakra. Minato's personal body guards were taught the technique for emergency use, and it took 3 of them to pool their Chakra together to use it once.

Though for some reason, she wasn't using it to transport kunai into skulls or just smack the Juubi with grains of sand at light speed, laughing as she nukes those two pricks faster than they can react to.

It was most likely because a Kakashi that knew Flying Raijin would be insanely broken, as we see during the war arc the tag Minato placed on Obito 16 years ago was still active, so if that was the case, the Sasuke Retrivel arc wouldn't have happened as Kakashi would have most likely placed seals on all his students, learning from his master's mistakes, and been able to teleport to him, grab him and teleport back to Konoha. Even if its chakra hungry, he should have enough for 5 or 6 jumps with it.

Hes a perfect toad sage which if you remember takes a lot of base chakra to even attempt to master sage mode, if Jiraya has crazy chakra reserves in your head you already know definitively Minato places above him already. Also Namikazes have been stated to have good chakra reserves, its just that his wife an Uzumaki is well... Uzumaki. So minatos reserves never gets talked about. You dont expect such a beast of a child if you dont have amazing genetics.

All summonings have hand signs except for Flying thunder god. Technically the ninja tools that are summoned aren't actually summoned. They are sealed in scrolls and then the ninja use chakra to release them, it just appears to be summoned because of the smoke that appears

Kakashi definitely knows the Flying Raijin. He didn't even need to use his Sharingan to copy it. Most likely, he simply asked his Sensei, Minato, who taught him. That's how he also learned the Rasengan. Both the Flying Raijin and the Rasengan cannot be copied with a Sharingan because they don't require hand signs. The reason Kakashi doesn't use the Rasengan is the same reason he doesn't use the Flying Raijin. He doesn't have enough chakra to sustain the usage of such powerful jutsu. Kakashi fights using only a few jutsu even though he knows "over a thousand jutsu" because a ninja must prioritise chakra management and some jutsu drain too much chakra which can lead to death or the failure of a mission. Minato and Naruto possess immense amounts of chakra. Minato, in particular, is a genius who has mastered the Flying Raijin to the point where it requires minimal chakra. It should really impress you how Minato is able to spam the Flying Raijin and the Rasengan despite him having not genetic hacks. It's all down to his genius, chakra control and training.

Also making and maintaining the seals requires Jiraya level knowledge of seals. You are opening a tiny rift in space and time. You DO NOT want to fuck that up. On top of that you need knives made of chakra conductive metal. Which is expensive as hell. And restricted by the daimo to be used by his samurai. Asuma Sarutobi almost had to hand his knuckle duster knives back after serving as a bodyguard.

A lot of people are also saying how Kakashi dosent have enough chakra but it is very possible he just couldnt learn it. Hiruzen has mastered every jutsu in the leaf except Flying Raijin and new jutsus that were created later like Minato making Rasengan and Kakashi making chidori. But Hiruzen 100% had acess to infromation he needed to learn flying Raijin but he never manged to actually master the jutsu. The same can be said about every other skilled ninja in the village. There are 3 leaf jonin who can together perform a worse version of Flying Raijin which further proves the acess people had to learn this jutsu and its difficutly. I wish we get to see Minato training and learing the justu in his upcoming manga.

Flying raijin is a seal that manipulates time and space so not only do you need the understanding of that particular field of study, you also need to be a seal master. I personally believe that the only reason he was able to properly implement the seal into various battle tactics is with the assistance of both kushina and jiriya who were the only seal masters in the leaf.

I think it's cause of how much chakra it takes. In the anime the 4th's previous Jonin guards used it to transport someone but it took 3 or 4 of them combined to pull it off. Who knows, maybe without the Sharingan zapping his chakra Kakashi might be able to pull it off now.

Kakashi probably does know Flying Raijin. If Minato was willing to teach it to his bodyguards, then he definitely would have taught it to his student. Kakashi, similar to those bodyguards, probably just isn't skilled enough at fuinjutsu and/or timespace ninjutsu to perform it without assistance. He'd probably have to use shadow clones, and then it's no longer practical or chakra efficient, so he doesn't bother.

Im pretty sure the technique uses yin/yang release combination. Which you can't copy combination techniques easily. This is why it takes 3 people to copy it. One person to mold the yin release, one for yang, then one to use it.

Isn't flying raijin technically fuinjutsu (or alteast half fuinjutsu) since it requires a sealing formula to mark the location u want to teleport to like a beacon. I think kakashi just didn't learn fuinjutsu and the summoning jutsu is essentially a premaid fuinjutsu because the only requirements are signing the contract with your blood (marking you as the destination), handsigns and chakra.

Kekashi’s Chakra level makes the most sense. You gotta think he already had the Sharinggan which drained a lot of his Chakra. Now that he doesn’t have that draining him he probably can use it. Kekashi has an above average chakra pool as well. He would have to in order to be able to use the Sharinggan especially without Uchiha blood and was still able to create and use a move like Chidori which uses so much chakra it becomes visible and he could do that 4 times in a day with the Sharinggan. The flying Rajin would definitely need to be used sparingly although it’d be worth learning for emergencies. Plus Naruto would definitely ask him to teach him the jutsu in which case he would have to reveal where he learned it. Also, it could be as simple as they didn’t think of that as they developed the story. We didn’t meet Minato until later in the story in terms of who he was a sinsei to and all the other details. It would also make Minato less special and Kekashi significantly more formidable and many of his battles become less interesting unless you make his foes more powerful as well which creates more OP characters

The better question is why didn't Minato teach Kakashi the flying raijin? Because it's pretty common for sensei to teach their students their own jutsu. Like rasengan with Jiraya, Minato and Naruto or chidori with Kakashi and Sasuke. Even the eight gates was passed down from Might Dai, Might Guy and Rock Lee. Minato would have been able to teach Kakashi that jutsu pretty easily because Kakashi was one of the brightest kids of the time.

It is also a Forbidden technique as it's very chakra depletive. There is a theory that if you lack sufficient chakra, you could become lost in the dimension that users hop to when in-between the starting location and designated marked location. It is stated that the user is entering a different dimension, essntially outside of time, and the markings count as entrances back into reality for the user. This looks like instant teleportation but operates similar to Kamui, save for the added time dilation. Now, that's also not to say that users can explore this dimension, as it is simply said that it's a very rapid use. Essentially, the user focuses on a mark they want to go to, and activates Flying Raijin. They (or objects/people they use it on) are brought into that dimension, where they are then forced back out at their desired mark. Sometimes, in reactive casting, the user is simply brought to a previous mark likely marked with heavy traces of the users chakra like when Minato had to teleport tailed beast bomb from Kurama, then with Edo Minato being teleported to the Hokage statue where he had initially teleported said Beast bomb. (If anyone remembers both scenes) He even says how much chakra it took for him to manage it. Then again, I'm arguing two ideas together cause we don't know tons of concrete things about Flying Raijin, but these are pretty solid ideas.

Also, Flying Raijin eats up a shit ton of chakra, which Kakashi doesn't really have a lot of, and, during the time that he knew Minato, not only did he not have a lot of chakra, but he also had the Sharingan and Chidori, which he said were both really chakra draining, meaning that actually using a Flying Raijin would probably be really disadvantageous for him.

While it being expensive makes sense it isnt a reason not to teach Kakashi. As mentioned by somone else, the chidori is a very expensive jutsu too. Plus when kakashi was older he worked as personal protection for Kushina under Minato. At that point he would have plenty of chakra for the flying raijin. And since you can use other raijin users marks it would have been super useful for Minato of Kakashi knew the jutsu. And the difficulty part doesnt make sense. It cant be more difficult to learn than the rasengan, which Minato did attempt to teach kid Kakashi that. Also, kakashi was a noted young genius.

@@alexrash7509 @alexrash7509 I mentioned that Chidori is expensive. -_- Even as an adult, over a decade after Minato died, Kakashi could only use Chidori, what was it, four times? Flying Raijin is far more expensive that chidori, I mean, four Jonin had to pool their chakra together to use it to transport Mei, whereas kid Kakashi could use it and Sasuke could use it more than once per day, even as, what, a 12 year old? So no, Kakashi prolly wouldn't have had enough chakra to use Flying Raijin, maybe at all, but definitely not in conjunction with his other costly abilities, which are the abilities that made him such an invaluable member to the Leaf. I didn't say anything about it being too difficult for him, nor do I think it would be. Using the jutsu would drain too much of Kakashi's chakra for it to be useful for him, using it would leave him in a more perilous position, as it would suck up a sizable portion of his chakra, almost certainly making him unable to use a lot of the more valuable jutsu he has access to, such as the Chidori he is so well known for.

Basically sharingan allows the user to commit visual information to permanent memory as long as the sharingan is active (sometimes the user doesn’t commit moves to their own memory) the sharingan can see how someone else signs and forms chakra using those signs and that’s what make a jutsu most of the time. A way to get around this is be faster than the sharingan can see which is incredibly difficult or preform a jutsu outside of their vision or preform a jutsu that you are allowed to preform as a result of a kekkie genkai which the eye can’t allow you to proform because you have to be born with those abilities. Minato is both too fast and preforming a jutsu that most of the time has no hand sign when being preformed so he is too fast for a user to see how his chakra is being formed to produce the jutsu if he even has to do that and isn’t using a hand sign so even if a user could tell what he was doing it’s not like they’d know how the jutsu was even preformed.

It probably also takes a certain level of proficiency in fuinjutsu to do it and it also takes an insane amount of chakra because I believe there was a group of 3 jonin and together they could only do it once before running out of chakra (correct me if I'm wrong). Kakashi I believe is also said to have low chakra reserves assumably from the constant drain of the sharingan, so while having obito's sharingan, he may not have had enough chakra to use if efficiently if at all and therefore didn't learn it.

Reasons for it is the need of seal master levels of sealing jutsu knowledge, big chakra reserves at least kage level as otherwise it takes 3 jonin rank ninjas to use it once, and dedication to training which for most of the series Kakashi severely lacked as he despite having the potential to be kage level in part 1 instead meandered in Jonin level until getting his ass kicked by Itachi, even then he still did not reach Kage level until the war. And yeah he had good reason for being complacent as he was still reeling from the lost of everyone he considered family but it would have been nice for him to carry his sensei's legacy.

I always figured it was a chakra thing. Like Minato had insane chakra reserves and the Flying Raijin requires a lot of chakra to the point where the people Minato did teach it to they need three people working together to pull it off.

Summoning techniques don't have hand signs? yes they do, the signs are boar -> Dog -> bird -> monkey -> ram. Edo tensei is tiger, snake, dog, dragon followed by clapping your hands

Also a good point to add is that kakashi is able to copy any jutsu he's capable of... meaning he wouldn't be able to copy an air style jutsu for example since he doesn't use air style. And that if a jutsu is over his capabilities he just can't copy it that easily.

My own head Canon is that it's because it's a space time ninjutsu and that requires a special affinity to use. Kakashi simply didn't have that affinity. Theory 2 is it requires massive Chakra. Kakashi didn't have the reserves when Minato was their sensei and by the time he did Minato was too busy to train him or else he had already passed.

So one thing with FR that i feel gets forgotten about. The formula needed to make the markings. Without that being known it means nothing. And its also probably why FR was workable with the hokage guards since they had a specific formula meant for multiple people to use in order to in act the technique. However the formula needed for a single person to activate and be the one to travel can be different.
