the most important clarification for me is the point that the majority of people do not realise that they don't know how money works. this needs to be addressed.

Before WW1 journalists used to criticise the money changers. Things changed once the money changers bought up most the media outlets.

Once you understand money is debt everything else falls into place.

Very informative but at 10:35 he says the public aren't clamouring to understand about money which is true, but they would be if journalists took the lead by informing them. They need to initiate the interest. Everyone would like to know how their standard of living could be improved. If the media informed the public about money, they would be interested and journalism in that area would thrive.

As someone who has been lightly involved with the NYSE and NASDAQ folk, I can tell you for damn sure they don't. Most CEOs don't understand economics. These people are good at reading financial statements to determine profitability. They are also good at sharing information among investors to find bubbles and busts. Monetary policy is important to the extent that The Fed is dumping money to the govt or to a bank. Banks creating money from nothing they thin is a conspiracy theory.

If this testimony is indicative of the status quo then media organisations too often employ people with a low level of awareness in the fields they are being asked to report on. Shortly afterward those reporters who then operate in the limited sphere of their own awareness will have limited and polarised outlooks and likely not even know it. If a reporter were to appear who could enlighten the masses on money then that reporter should be aware at least in part of the arguments made by other various influencing schools and authorities in the field of economics, money and monetary reform. They must be able to challenge them and have them debate one another. We would benefit from reporters who orchestrate debate between a representative cross-section of authorities, scholars, academics within respective fields. Bring in the darlings, and the heretics, bring in the true believing zealots and the skeptics...and let them argue. Those who are interested in the truth will make conclusions of some merit. Even if that means we just don't know the whole truth yet.

I found out about the corrupt monetary system through nationalism. I just followed the bread crumbs left by the money power. This issue is probably something that nationalist and progressives could probably agree on to an extent.

Economics is very simple. It could be taught in 5 minutes. If you spend more than you make you are in the shit. In your private life and for your country. That is your lesson. Good day class.

Peter Caulton I hope you don't apply that theory to the an economy. Economies and household budgets are not the same so cannot be treated as such.
