Thank you. It all makes sense. I have 4 dogs, the new one was introduced only a year ago and hasnt been fully accepted by the other 3 but is given more affection and freedom than the older ones by the other folks in the household. So he and the eldest fight a lot when Im around and I show affection to one more. I always break it up and punish them. But now it got out of hand when my sister got bit trying to separate them. I will be more consistent with the rules and wont be so lenient anymore

I don’t do any of what you said and they still fight for attention. I can’t pet one dog without another rushing in and before I knew the “dominant” one starts nipping and then they’d take turn biting/nipping. I’m not the only looking after them in my family and see that my dad loves making them stand up on their hind legs and excitedly climb all over his legs or reach for food and rewarding this chaotic behavior by petting. I try to set up rules and pet each of them when they are calm/listen to my command only but the chaos starts when the other one notices and intervenes. I have to crate one to let them know they have to wait and take turn but it still doesn’t help much.

They are great on walks together with the only issue is if my boy plays up gets all bouncy she then tells him off I do correct them both

I agree with some of what you are saying, particularly the part about going back to basics and working your dogs to be able to walk on a lead together. I would disagree that dog on dog aggression is "mostly a lack of leadership or consistency." There are some breeds that are known to get into fights with same sex housemates, particularly the Jack Russell Terrorists, despite strong leadership and consistency. It's simply part of the breed and Jack Russell Terrorist owners and breeders know this. In addition, if the 2 dogs are siblings of the same sex, that is also known to be an issue regardless of strong leadership and consistency. It is important to know your breed before bringing them into the home and, for those of us who have siblings or a breed that tends toward same sex aggression, or both such as my case, it's even more important to know how to safely break up the occasional fight that will occur despite strong leadership and consistency and when/how bring the dogs back together safely. It's also important to understand your dog's individual personality as it is possible one or both of your dogs is/are "reactive" and certain situations can trigger them. Sometimes it's not all apples or all oranges, there are situations which do not fit in the same basket and it isn't always or mostly lack of leadership, there can be other issues at play.

Hey you seem to know a bit about dogs I have a chuhaha mix and a pomsky the pomsky is bigger and younger and the chuhaha is smaller and was a solo dog for most of her life my grandma had gotten another dog the pomsky and everything has been fine but the pomsky will get in the dogs face and harass her like she’s trying to play and the other dog not liking that gets aggressive and it has lead to some close calls not a fight yet but I am terrified that it will I don’t let it show but I think about it every time I can’t see them I don’t know what to do I’m very worried I love them both and don’t want them to fight or get hurt or hurt anyone else

I have 2 males. One is intact age 2 and one castrated age 6. They were completely fine but the older dog tried nicking food and jealous of the other getting fuses. 2 days a go they just went at it and fought. No teeth marks but still very aggressive. Now every time they see each other they want to fight. Both walked together fine with no issues but as soon as they get in the house they fight. I have gone back to basics and will crate train them to sleep next to each other. Where do I go from there. How do I build the relationship back up. The younger dog is XL bully and crate trained. Older dog staffie cross and crate trained. Any help would be great as I am so worried.

This is good. I will do my best to get everyone in this household on the same page. I'm pregnant, so I cannot handle the stress properly, and it's not good for my unborn child. My younger dog has a never ending attitude problem, and is always on guard around my senior GSD, until he randomly decides to attack him. But, my GSD knows the rules and doesn't fight back, so is now becoming battle scarred by this little punk! It kills me.

This is similar to mine. Our older dog knows we don't want her to hurt the younger. So now the younger one is just ruling the place. We f***ed up. Now time to reset.

Hello, I am a newly certified dog trainer trying to gain as much knowledge and experience as I can. I am volunteering at a Humane Society with some behaviors. I have one big ask. Is there anyway to get a dog to stop pulling when you get it out of the kennel and all the other dogs are barking loudly, and getting more amped up. Do I just need to get some ear head phones and stand in the cage with him until he walks nicely out of the kennel run? It is hard to calm a big 11 month old puppy when there is so much commotion going on.

My two girls were outside a stray cat walked by and the dogs went nuts. Something happened, I don’t know what, I was inside. One dog clamped on to the other in a solid grip and her expression went blank and she just would not let go. This is the first time I’d seen active aggression for these two. It scared the other dog so much, she low growls at the aggressor now and I have to keep them separated. I’ve been able to walk them together with muzzles on but inside the house there is no peace. The attacking dog wants to make friends again but the other doesn’t. They were puppies together so I have no idea what’s gone wrong.

Dogs aren't humans. Even humans living together can fight and argue! - I'd advise professional training in this instance, or re-home one of them as the size discrepancy is so massive. The pug will likely be killed unless you pull rank and step up.

Hello. We have 3 dogs, a 4yr. Old female pug, 3yr. Old male Boxer, and a 8 month old French Bulldog. All are neutered & spayed. The boxer had had obedience training. Because of health problems, the French Bulldog has had no obedience training. The frenchie has taken to attacking our boxer whenever the frenchie gets irritated. It can be while the two are playing, or over a toy, or even if the frenchie hurts himself while alone, he will run over and attack the boxer who will become submissive & cower as the frenchie is biting the boxer’s jowls. Currently, we put him on time out, but that has not stopped the problem. A few days will go by and it happens again. I’ve watched your videos and in this one, you say do not hire a certain dog trainer but I cannot make out what you are saying. Can you elaborate, please? Thank you!

If you don't intervene now your GS will have your chihuahuas for breakfast when he grows up. The chihuahuas need discipline and your GS needs stimulation outside and mental stimulation as well
@vikingdogmanship5 жыл бұрын
The chihuahuas is probably annoyed with a big puppy in the house, remember he just came in to a "their" household and is alot bigger, if he paws them and wants to have fun, they might not think it is. show them you can control your GSD puppy aswell as them(keep him on leash inside to help them out. they all need structure and follow your rules.

Amazing advice!! What about my male dog who attacks dogs that try to dominate him by humping. I have had trainers and I do his training. (He said roll on back to be submissive) my dog also snaps at hyper dogs at he dog park. At home he is pushy for my affection but on the lowest rank of the pack and never fights. Its only with new dogs (puppies and males) he fights..
@keikitano3 жыл бұрын
@amanda Your dog actually reacts correctly. He clearly shows his limits and does not want to get humped. Trainers who tell you to put him on his back are absolutely wrong. First your dog defends himself and then you turn him on his back and scare him and destroy his trust in you. He can't rely on you and has to take care of everything himself. You can see the result now when he wants to snatch active dogs. He wants to keep them away. My tip is very simple. Protect your dog! Don't let him get humped.
