You're so right about great social butterflies being the best actors...... Dated one
@Alphacentauri8194 жыл бұрын
fitnessdavid MTL I sometimes come across as a social butterfly and many people think I’m an extravert. I’m not ever trying to act...its survival and what I learned as a child to make it. It comes out in social situations where I’m highly anxious. I either talk and laugh, life of the party...or shut down. I feel like I’m almost in flight or fight..and likely I am. I’m an ambivert and love my alone time. People who don’t know me well, totally misread me. I can be loud, silly and it’s almost like someone else is taking over...especially when I drink, which I often do in social settings to cover the anxiety. Please don’t assume it’s an act. There are times I annoy myself and so I will avoid a social situation because I’m afraid of how I might come across. I look confident and many laugh, but I also feel like I’m on the edge of a panic attack half the time. Walking, hiking, meditating by myself are all superior to social events...once in a while I do like socializing, but the anxiety is real. I’m sure I’ve annoyed people 😥

I have social anxiety and it sucks... I don't have friends except my boyfriend whom I absolutely love and 2 old friends that I talk too about once a blue moon... so technically they have become acquaintances ..but it's always a text... After that i managed to get along with them a bit more and they told me i was more kind and sweet than they thought i was. Until now im in college but that still haunts me, i’m always conscious about what people might think of me, what if i say something wrong, what if they dont accept me. I agree most ppl are shallow. They're also jealous bitter & spiteful. When I was younger I could fight them off. But now that I'm older I'm tired and have given up. It's a constant fight. So many ppl always wanting stuff from me and acting like I owed them. Whether it was my time my knowledge it always had to be me giving them my attention. It's even harder being a minority in the south in a relative smaller town. I hate it. I've lost all will to do what I enjoy bc there's always someone to ruin it. Dating is impossible as I encounter the most bizarre situations which makes the girl feel uncomfortable & eventually they lose interest bc they don't want to deal with the weird situations that they normally don't have to deal with. Can't have a nice car, bike, or even dress nicely as some idiot always has to run their mouth. So I got a boring economy car. Quit my business & pretty much just keep to myself. Gained weight & wallow in misery. Now no one bothers me. It's as if the hateful area I live in is saying yeah that's your place, he ain't nobody & that's how it should be. I hate this place. Just move you say, can't too much invested & no way to be free. Besides I've traveled to NY & across the world & it's the same. The world says I can't be good looking I can't be cool I can't be anything other than what they stereotype me as. My last salvation was a dear friend who I think just gave up on me. Doesn't answer my calls. Don't blame her. She probably had enough. I think about all the BS that I have to endure. Fake ppl who just want to ruin me. Can't even get a job with all the experience & education I have. What's worse my own family gloats about my misery. All the things I've done for them & this is how they repay me. There's all this fake sentiment on tv saying how wonderful ppl are. It's a lie to keep you going. I've met a lot of ppl in my life & have only come across 3 ppl who truly are great ppl. The rest always have some hidden agenda. They lie cheat & steal & bc I'm not like them they hate on me. I agree with you on that part ppl hate you when you're not like them.

you shouldn't buy your clothes or cars for other people, nor should you own a bussiness to impress other people, you do it for you. Do not give up, there are good people in the world, you just need to stop worrying about what others think! this is YOUR life not theirs. Own your business because thats your dream, speak to your friends and family because even though they gave up after awhile, you need to let go of the past and move on and forgive them. Not for them but for your own sanity. Just try to let go of the past and take each day at a time and take care of yourself.

Personally speaking, I have never fit in anywhere I've ever been. I was an outcast as a kid, and I am an outcast now. If other people do take a liking to me, it doesn't last long. Sooner or later they drop me. Most people, and it has been the same wherever I have ever been, just seem to be tolerant of me. My dad is 61 years old, and he is the same way. He doesn't have anyone he's really close with, and I am afraid that I will end up the same exact way.

People like you good, if not we were alone in our Mum's belly and we survived even as a fetus. 💁♀️ So we'll definitely make it, with or without people whilst being adults. Take it from someone who's tried to learn "body language online" to make my elder sisters like me/get their attention since childhood. I've even tried to act like I liked, "Scummy Man" by Artic monkeys. Because my elder sister thinks it's 🔥 Even that didn't work, and my ears are STILL traumatised. Other songs are not bad from him, but goodbye "Scummy man". 🙈😂 They still didn't like me no matter how I much i tried. I'm only in my late twenties, yet never felt so liberated to be nonchalant of people and only hopeful towards God/Allah. Why do you think grabdmas are so peaceful? They've learnt to not tolerate people's rubbish from years of experience. Young girls look young, but that's it. Most of them endure people's rubbish until they realise at an old age, (I've been there). Why wait, until we become a grandma/grandpa to have a drama- free life? Just my opinion. Feel free to feel as you wish. =)

The Bible states that in the last days that " the love of many will grow cold, " and also that "men will be without natural affection." It is here, do your best to be kind and love others, but be very wise in doing so. Also do not take it personally if shunned, human nature is as bad as it gets, Jeremiah 17:9. I do a best possible examination of myself, my words, and my behavior's, and move on. Remember, Jesus is the best friend, we can tell Him anything and He understands, we can pour our heart to Him. I used to be optimistic when younger and I never felt insecure about making friends until I realized very few people wanted to be my friend . And I can tell you it was not because of me doing something mean to them or me being weird or anything of the sort . I've noticed am more sociable with people who are open and easy going. But then when you genuinely show interest you end up being the one always calling checking up on them but nothing the other way round 🤷🏼♀️. I love my own space but it would be nice to have that friend who check up on you too

It's time for me to stop myself from letting ppl go forever out my life, on social media and in real life. I used to be ashamed of being a loner b*tch and complain about it all my life...I'm gd being myself, I'm not selling out for nobody.

Great points were made in this video, but I would also emphasize that people need to be in positive atmospheres far more in order to find happiness. Climb a mountain or a big hill, high places that take work to get to simply repel negative people. Civic groups that are truly working to improve your community attract wonderful people. Endurance sports such as swimming, running and cycling are full of people who tend to be emotionally stable/successful and have a positive outlook. Go to some races or even compete yourself if you can. Great environments attract great people.

How can I get over the mental barrier of thinking they don't like me and actually be myself and go out and start new conversations and friendships? Also I'm in high school and I'm really well known because I'm good in track. People do start conversations with me, but i always think I'm to unpopular, not pretty, not cool, not funny, and overall not likeable.
@mariedubuque8 жыл бұрын
Nihssa, you said it yourself, you are likeable and well respected in your high school. Sure we all have insecurities, but honestly, you have so much going for yourself. And track is such a great sport to excel at. Keep it up. You're doing great!

I'm a senior in highschool but I don't have any friends. I just feel lost when I talk to other people. I don't know what to say or what to do. I haven't had any real friends. I always played by myself on the playground and I don't hang out with anyone. I'm going to a small community college next year so I'm hoping I can find a friend there.

You will. People mature in college. But college can also be a lonely place. That's why it's important to get involved...clubs, intramural sports. Find whatever interests you so you can meet people. Stick with it. You will do great!

@briancalifornia110 жыл бұрын
Just take deep breathes relax and just show your confidence show you have nothing to lose and more to gain boosts your confidence. Say whats on your mind. Like for example your surroundings you can initiate conversations that way. Another way is to pretend you know this person they will never know that you don't know them just say you look familiar do i know you from some where and the conversation will flow.

I’m the shyest most introverted person out there, my partner is a successful man and can fit in with any crowd with the jokes etc I’ve always stuck to a few people and now at 30 as a mother of 3 I can say I have 0 friends. My partner sees this as a problem and issue I need to resolve but I’m genuinely fine with it and I don’t feel the need at this present time to sacrifice my alone time when I’m free of the kids, to a bunch of wine swigging giggling women. I go to parties with him and to the pub etc and yes I talk to people and have a laugh but when I haven’t had a drink and I meet those people on the street they’re just dull and boring with nothing interesting to say and have completely different interests to me. If I wasn’t a mother I’d probably be the kind of person to go travelling alone and work abroad and maybe settle down with some cats on a hill and live happily ever after. Growing up I did have friends but family life was pretty non existent as my dad was an alcoholic. We moved house dozens of times and were very poor. I think because of my childhood and the fact it was lonely it has made it so I don’t feel i need human interaction other then my family. The only reason i need this to change and ignore what I actually want out of life is because of the disapproval of my partner and having been with him for over half my life, I haven’t ever had the opportunity to develop into the person I actually am.

I have always been shy and scared of people since I was little. I come from a different culture and when I was little people used to make fun of me because I was shy and couldn't talk and couldn't communicate. I was lonely my whole life and still am . every time I have a new friend I just lose them somehow, I feel guilty all the time I feel like everything always is my fault somehow it's so depressing.I really don't know how to hold a conversation I don't know how to look people in the eye and keep talking I have nothing to talk about most of the times I always feel like I'm boring. And now I am a mother of two children and I need to make friendship with other moms but I'm so scared that I would make another mistake or just not be able to talk and look stupid.

I recommend creating a professional distance between yourself and your coworkers. Whether they are being honest are not in their jokes it should not take too much of your time. I recommend just focusing on being productive and paying attention to detail a while at work and keeping things simple as far as interacting with them. I'm saying this a difficult position personally in the construction industry.

Hi Marie, I enjoyed your video. In my case, I some times think I'm under a curse or something. I'm in my mid 40's and have only 2 long time friends from when we were in college. We live in different countries, but we've kept in touch through the years. But in general, I find that it's not as much the making friends part, but the keeping them. that makes me wonder what is wrong. All seems to be well, then one day, they stop talking to me and even avoiding me. I have been told what happens to me is not normal. Your insight is much appreciated. Thank you!

new school, no one knows me. got bullied as a kid 3rd-9th grade. 11th grade buildt back up my self confidence, can make reasonably good conversation now( i think). but it seems that every one hates me, no one wants to talk to me. i sit at there table and say things to contribute to confessions. no one shows interest in me no one wants to hang around me. the don't come to me i have to go to them. and yet no one recognizes me as a friend. been like this almost my whole life. i just find it weird. *SIDE NOTE* this is not a desperate call for help, i just want to know why.

*HELP PLEASE* People don’t seem to like me very much. I’m super outgoing and have lots of energy/zest when I talk. I’m generally very positive-but I do make self-deprecating jokes idk if that influences that, just thought I’d mention. But I constantly get interrupted in group conversations, though when I mention it they’re usually like-oh sorry yeah go ahead. I notice that when a certain group at school I’m in is all eating together, people seem to sit as far away from me as possible. I shower regularly and brush my teeth. I practice good hygiene. People are usually nice but I feel like it’s surface level politeness. The people I feel like do generally like me don’t really hang out with me. We’ll sit together if we bump into each other but nothing intentional happens, even if it’s fairly easy for them to do so. And no one really comes to me for advice at all like I see other people do with their friends. Am I overthinking it? Or could their be something wrong with me that makes them dislike me? I don’t know what to do, HELP ME PLEASE!!

great explanation. I am good man My wife and my brother like me and I do the same some people talk and then they ignore me and I have some really really good friends but I got it now. I need to met with the right people and that is also true people judge you and look at you and decide whether I can provide them some benefits are not. If I can't they will just remove me from their list and I am sure that's true but this video explain the confusion that why people don't like me because they don;t like me because I can not deliver to them what they are looking for and They are not my friends they are just doing research to find someone who can deliver and I don't need them. I will find more and more right people who don;t look at me what I can and I can;t deliver . Thanks for making this video :)

I am in high school and this video really helped a ton! Thanks. Do you think you could do a video on true friends vs. fake friend or how to tell what friends are really your friends and what friends really don't care about anything you have to say or do? Or maybe a video on bullying like why people do it and how to stop it?
