As a zoology nerd this show keeps irritating me with how they make all dragons either act like dull tools for the kids or like the Jurassic franchise mindless bloodthirsty dinosaur experiments. They don't act like actual animals deserving of respect. It's the animalistic natural behavior of HTTYD dragons that made me fall in love with them.

And the way the kids treat the dragons is so annoying. Like, that one episode with the Monstrous Nightmare where Tom was trying to “use” the Nightmare. And, then the other kids called him out for apparently “using him as a mindless tool”?? It’s like no different from training a dog. (Treat in exchange for a command)

At least the first two Jurassic films actually had the dinosaurs act like animals. Nine Realms NEVER had the dragons acting like animals that actually lived at one point!

They especially fumbled with thunder. A lot of the fun of toothless was how much personality he had while being a believable wild animal (particularly in movie one). Thunder not only looks like he’s riddled with genetic disease, but also has the personality of a generic cartoon pet.

I feel like Tom feeding Hiccups prosthetic to the Snow wraith was very appropriate... it's a clear demonstration of how The Nine Realms takes the original Httyd, chews it up, and spits it out without any consideration of how meaningful and special the original was to people. Excellent visual representation right there.

I was so deflated when they fed Hiccup's prosthetic leg to the snow wraith. That reveal at the end of the first movie of Hiccup's leg connected Hiccup and Toothless on a deeper level than just the emotional connections. They need each other now with both of their injuries. For the writers to seemingly throw away the last physical remains of their relationship is just disheartening.

I haven't watched the Nine Realms series or this video yet, but if they tossed away Hiccup's prosthetic for any reason I'm sure the writers MEANT it to be some righteous symbolic moment that would warm our hearts, a passing of Toothless and Hiccup's legacy to these new characters who definitely earned it according to them. "Let's lay his legend to rest so we can continue the story with these brilliantly written and loveable characters! The fans will love it!" Instead it's just a mockery of the original movie that started it all and probably a shit ton of nostalgia-baiting because other than that, they have no substance to draw people in...

Tom's been collecting artifacts related to his ancestors, one being adult Hiccup's prosthetic leg which was left on a workbench. Tom put it in his backpack, though he couldn't figure out what it was meant to be anyway. When the Snow Wraith was about to eat Tom, he had no other option but to use the leg to wedge the Wraith's mouth open to escape (ala Luke and the Rancor).

I don't think them knowing what it is would add anything significant to the story, but it feels like such a shitty thing to do to the fans. Teasing the prosthetic reveal which could lead to some compelling lore, only to quite literally throw it away... You could replace the prosthetic with a hammer and nothing in the story changes though, so what's the point of it being there? Ugh.

@@willfanofmanyii3751 I mean the lore implications of the leg being there, not the lore of the leg itself. Like, assuming it means 100% that Hiccup had been there at some point, WHY was he there? Was his family with him or did he potentially go alone? Why was the leg still there but nothing else? Did he have to leave in a rush? Was he in hiding and an enemy hunted him down? Seems kinda weird.. I guess the main focus is the connection of Hiccup being Tom's ancestor, but there's potential for a side story that unveils (even vaguely) what happened to Hiccup and his family after the third movie ended. Having the prosthetic revealed opens up so many questions but when the writers take that kind of clue and throw it away the way they did, it makes it pretty clear they never intended to explore those questions and they just wanted to create some nostalgia so fans would stick around. I dunno. I'm never going to watch this series but the idea of a "What happened to Hiccup?" story playing behind the scenes, even if it's a C-plot in the actual show, is neat to think about and a big missed opportunity imo.

I just realized this and it really annoys me At 25:34, D says all dragons in the ice relam are in danger because of Buzzsaw. Are you seriously telling me an ENTIRE REALM of giant dragons can't take care of one single man? In previous shows the main villains had entire armies and navies but buzzsaw is just 1 guy, im pretty sure his ass would be dead in 4 minutes.

I recently realized how weird the nightlight's proportions are in general. Not only are their faces shaped like they're deformed, the body and base of their neck being so thick, then tapering off so quickly to their small heads is unpleasant to look at to say the least

My biggest issue involving this show is the fact they have all Nine realms in one centralized location. It would have been so cool to have 9 separate realms around the globe, seeing the different kinds of dragons inspired by the local mythology. It was so odd seeing the Mist Twisters, clearly inspired by Eastern Dragons, in the same Norse region the original took place in.

I heard DreamWorks is making Wizards of Once movie (based on books by Cressida Cowell) and 2 characters in the books literally changed their names to Arthur and Morgana la Fey. So Wizards of Once are between the connection of HTTYD and ToA. Terrible terrors can be seen in Wizards: Tales of Arcadia and in first season of Trollhunters, there is a picture of Tooth on Jim's notebook (Jim's wiki literally states he's a fan of HTTYD). A board game Maces and Talons from RTTE is seen in Trollhunters too. Also in HTTYD Gobber mentions trolls like socks, and in Trollhunters trolls actually like socks. In Trollhunters, there is also a viking ship and helmet in the museum. In The Hidden World, the hidden world actually looks like Heartstone Trollmarket. In the book Trollhunters, Jim actually has Viking ancestors as he is from a long Trollhunter bloodline. Well, in HTTYD it's mentioned Hiccup'd like to go hunt trolls when he was little and this leads me to another theory in this. Hiccup's daughter Zephyr and Jim's mom Barbara are the same person. There are a few facts supporting this: 1. Both are blue eyed red-head 2. Time travel is canon in Trollhunters 3. A blue eyed red-head can be seen on paintings from the Arthurian times in Tales of Arcadia Ok, the last mention is, in the book HTTYD there is a witch, in the franchise HTTYD in the comics there is an evil witch too. Yes, both HTTYD and ToA have witches. Sorry for making this too long, but considering it does actually make sense with the novels, I believe Jim is Hiccup's descendant. And not joking, both books have gore. And I'm not even counting the fact Megamind shares probably the same universe too since Metro City was in Rise of the Titans.

The fact that the black scale gene is still dominant in thunders family means that this family tree is actually a family zig zag (because toothless was literally the last nightfury so only he has the black scale gene) this is thurther backed by the fact that both thunders mother and farther are both nightlights with a significant portion of black scales meaning that they both are direct decendants of toothless (though the mother is more white so she probably has genetics from other lightfurys which we see in HTTYD3). But my point is that Toothless's family has been inbreeding like egyptian pharos for over 1000 years and are still somehow functioning living organisms.🤮

I hate to say it but for animals this is an observed thing to make a new species last. Some of the finches on the Galápigos were seen to do this. A finch from one island was caught in a storm and landed on another island where its particular species didn't exist. It managed to breed with a female of another species. However their children bred amongst each other and the father that was from another island. Thus a new species began to arrise. For us intelligent and abundant humans this is gross and unheard of but in nature with animals that are scarce or non-existent its how new species can come about. So its honestly really realistic that this happened unfortunately

I have a theory for how Hiccup's leg ended up in the Hidden World. Just hear me out... When Toothless and the Light Fury went to retrieve their kids in the Christmas special, Toothless decided to steal a (possible) spare prosthetic leg. You know, for chewing on and playing fetch with.

Another theory is that when Hiccup died, his kids traveled to the hidden world to tell Toothless about Hiccup's death, taking one of Hiccup's spare prosthetic legs as a momento for Toothless. At the time, there was only one secret entrance to the hidden world due to the fissure not being opened yet, so Hiccup's kids also decided to booby-trap that one area to prevent people from going inside and finding the dragons. This, of course, took a few weeks, so Hiccup's kids lived in an isolated part of the hidden world near the entrance, explaining all the stuff we saw there. To have extra insurance that no one finds out about the dragons, the two also took the Book of Dragons with them to hide it in the hidden world, putting it in a locked container to preserve it and make sure no one could just get their hands on it unless they solved the mechanism. The two also made Tom's heirloom helmet, secretly making the horns the key to the container's lock in the hopes that whoever finds the container would be a descendant of their family and thus inclined to protect the dragons and that they would instantly have a key in store. The two also could've had Toothless teach the strike class symbol to the Night Lights, and it was passed down, which is why Thunder knew it.

Guys, don't worry about the cliffhanger! By the time season 5 rolls around, which should be in mid-late April (hide your fathers, hide your mothers, your sister and your brothers, hide your wives, hide your kids, for the nine realms is coming), the writers will have either forgotten about the ending of season 4 or indicated that it was resolved off-screen with a throwaway line. Unless it gets cut too.......

I honestly got peeved when Tom drew on the ancient dragon book and threw Hiccup's prosthetic leg into the Snow wraith's mouth. Not only is it disrespecting the HTTYD series, but it's like the show is telling kids that " Hey! If you find an old ancient item, it's okay to destroy and ruin it! Who cares what we can learn from it!". Also, I felt like the Decoy episode could have been rewritten ( Let's be honest the whole show deserves to be rewritten ), instead of Tom facing Buzzsaw ( Leonard ) alone, why didn't Eugene distract Buzzsaw by talking with him, and while he distracts Buzzsaw the others can go and free the dragons from the weak ice cages. I mean think about it, Eugene is the only one in the show who talked and interacted with Buzzsaw the most, and they had a short therapy session together, so it would make more sense for buzzsaw to be a little bit calmer around Eugene. But hey, that's just my take on it.

I know the show is heavily implying Tom is descended from Hiccup, but wouldn't it be hilarious if it ends up being he's actually related to Dagur? Like, that would be an amazing 180 wtf moment that makes just little enough sense to actually fit for the show. Can even explain away a few things. After turning himself around, he ends up living in the hidden realms, while worshiping Hiccup from afar in some deranged Dagur way, collecting random things and drawing that mural. It kind of fits. Dumb and as unlikely as snow surviving a trip into lava, but fun.

I think one aspect of the Night Light designs that make them look like... that... is that they have scales that are extremely obvious. Like, Toothless had a scaly texture but it was subtle enough to keep giving him a smooth appearance. With Night Lights, their black scales are so obvious and bumpy that they look like moving rocks.

As a huge mythology nerd, June being representation for people like me makes me VERY upset. She wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't a smug jerk about it all the time. Also, my thoughts on the Ice Realm looking like it's above ground. The realms are clearly supposed to be a reference to the 9 realms of Norse Mythology, even if they're not actually lining them up with the real realms. Therefore, I choose to believe that the doorways to these realms, like the sinkhole, are just portals into these realms. It would explain why the Ice Realm has it's own sky and weather despite it theoretically being underground, as well as the dramatic difference in height between the top of the surface world and the bottom of the Ice Realm. Not to mention the way none of these realms effected each other before the kids arrived, breaking through walls shouldn't be difficult for literal dragons so why are the realms only being exposed to each other now? Just my personal interpretation though, and one they could easily screw up within the canon. Edit: By the way, for someone who supposedly has super strength within the canon of this series, Tom really couldn't snap the icicles forming the cage bars to make a wide enough hole for him and Thunder to escape? Perhaps I'm mistaken, but those icicles look pretty thin, a normal person could probably snap one of them with a well placed kick.

An interesting idea I had when I first heard about this show was what if Hiccup's decendant was actually the villain of the show, (and if it was set in the 1840s) a wealthy Norwegian noble, who is the son from the last Jarl of New Berk (before the nobility law of 1821 stripped all the Norwegian nobility of their titles), inherited his families vast fortune and large collection of viking artifacts. Soon he came across the book of dragons, originally he didn't believe its contents but was nevertheless fascinated with the legends and so he spent a large amount of his families fortune on building a museum dedicated to his families past and the viking legends. (I couldn't be bothered to think about all his motives and backstory) eventually he learns about this volcanic eruption that left a large hole in the seabed off the coast of Iceland and one thing leads to another ending with him discovering the truth about dragons and the hidden world which then leads to him obsessing over them and believing that as the decendant of "Hiccup the great" only he has the right to use (and exploit) the dragons (he is also salty about his farther having his title stripped away by the nobility law of 1821 so he wants to restore his families honour even claiming that Hiccup was an "emperor of dragons" to justify his actions) which leads him down a dark path that whoever the main character is in this alternate version of the show will have to stop him and prevent the world from finding the dragons. (Also in this version of the show, Hiccup's prosthetic leg is safe in the museum display dedicated to Hiccup and his other belongings like his sword, helmet and flight suit. At no point in this version would it end up in a dragons mouth!😡)

@@sillygoose42069 Actually Hiccup's hair was Auburn which is a mix brown and red, and he had green eyes. Yes, Astrid had blonde hair and blue eyes. Also, it is possible for Alex to be related to Hiccup even with her mother having red hair and green eyes depending on how the family genes were passed on through the family members of each generation in the family although I'm no expert on how the genetics of genealogy works. Now, Hiccup and Astrid's children were their daughter Zephyr, who had auburn hair and blue eyes, and their son Nuffink, who had blonde hair and green eyes. Since The Nine Realms takes place 1300 years after the original HTTYD then I think that would be 20 - 40 generations down the line. So in those 20 - 40 generations, Zephyr and Nuffink marrying their respective spouses of different viking heritage and parentage genes, had their own children who inherited their parents mixed genes, and then those children marry their spouses and have their own children and on and on and etc..... This goes on passing the varied genes from one generation to another. Let's not forget the evolution of time with the encounter of different cultures, nations and civilizations adding more variation to the genetics depending on who each descendant married. Plus, some genetic factors could be stronger than others remaining constant through each descendant regardless of variation of genes. Put that all together 1300 years later and 20 - 40 generations down the line and you get Alex's mother with red hair and green eyes, and Alex with brownish blonde hair and brown eyes, and if you look at a genealogical family tree, it will trace right back to Hiccup as the ancestor. Again, I'm no expert on genealogy and genetics but I think that's how it would go in the long run.

If they go with Hiccup taking Astrid and his kids to the hidden world to be with toothless then I am going to be so upset. Like not only does that completely ignore the bond every other character in HTTYD had with their dragons (Gobber, Snotlout, Fishlegs, the twins, Eret. Hell, Valka had way longer to bond with Cloudjumper than Hiccup did with Toothless) but also how cruel is that for the other people of Berk. Like they would be abandoning all their friends, Astrid's family and both Gobber and Valka already went through losing Stoick. Gobber is like an uncle or second father to Hiccup and Valka was reconnecting with Hiccup so then him just leaving and taking his kids with him (which is also cruel because people need to socialize with others outside of their own family) but it leaves Valka and Gobber without someone else they care about with no idea of the fate of the people they care about.

Season 4 is weird for me. It has good concepts. Completely marred by the fact that they are on The Nine Realms: - Eugene and Alex have the definitive BFF energy, but we have to focus on Tom and June. - The whistle that allows to control dragons without taming them is brilliant. Imagine if they had given that to Viego instead of Buzzsaw. - Hiccup exploring the Hidden World/The Nine Realms could be interesting, but it not only goes against the ending of movie 3, but it also paints Hiccup as a lousy chief and friend. Are we to assume that he just left New Berk to be with Toothless? And all the others what? Snoutlout and Hookfang, Fishlegs and Meatlug, Valka and Cloudjumper??? I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, the Elder Night Light’s design would’ve been a WHOLE lot better than Thunder’s. ALSO, in the episode Journey To The Snowcano (I know I’m sorry I’m bringing this episode up) it kinda brought up an interesting concept. When Jun said ‘Guess the Vikings weren’t the only ones who knew about dragons’ it got me thinking. I would LOVE to see Dreamworks do a movie series or tv series set in the world of Dreamworks Dragons but from other cultures from around the world. Like South American, Asian, African, Native American, etc. That would be amazing! And the dragons designs could be based off of folklore and myths from said cultures. With obvious reappearances of other dragons that we know of, of course. Now that would be a damn good series. It certainly would’ve been better than The Nine Relms.

I know that this is the LEAST of this season's continuity-related issues, but when the show implied that Hiccup (and later as it's revealed, his whole family) had spent a long time in the Hidden World (and in the Nine Realms, by extension); enough time to set up booby traps as well as an underground workshop(?) in the King's Realm, anyway, it was the biggest glaring issue that stood out to me and it seriously bugged me out especially since it was made *ABUNDANTLY* clear that humans stepping foot in the Hidden World is a BIG no-no. Even seasoned dragon riders Hiccup and Astrid were violently threatened by an aggressive Rumblehorn and were swarmed by the dragon colony in the Hidden World, and they only lived to tell the tale because Toothless, using his newly-assumed status as the colony alpha, called off the chase and was forced to leave the Hidden World to ensure Hiccup's safety. Nine Realms throws that important point straight out the window and into the depths of Helheim. 😮‍💨

The night lights design infuriate me to no end. There was potential in making them look good by coloring certain areas black and other white to improve the design but they literally got a model of a light or night fury and just threw buckets of black or white on it. Also did someone notice something off about the timberjack? It just felt strange for some reason. I couldn't even tell it was a timberjack until Audrie said it was. It also looked way smaller than it was supposed to. I remember them being completely massive and that one seemed smaller than a monstrous nightmare. Idk maybe I'm just seeing things. Anyway great video, terrible season and Alex will continue to be the queen until this dogshit excuse for a show ends.

yeah, the designs for the thunder's family are absolutely horrendous, especially his mom. the only one i think is mildly interesting is the spotted one. if i thought thunder's design/model was bad, his family's are infinitely worse... the weird frog-like heads and mouths, the bumbling, ungraceful bodies, the awkward placing of markings... it's all very uncanny. i guess it could be argued about the size, that the timberjack was a young one (not sure if its age was mentioned) but like the other comments said, i think it's definitely the weird wing spikes.

I love Timberjacks they're my favorite dragon. Was so dissatisfied in the Timberjack cause throughout all the franchise they did not show them often or dedicated an episode to them despite them being part of some of the origional dragons mentioned in the Book of Dragons. Even being shown in the first movie when looking through the book, but they just get used as background dragons so often. Maybe there's a dedicated episode to them that I missed but most of my references of them are background pics of them, a sparse few closeups and the Book of Dragons. Now we have enough art of them to get a general feel of them but official material with multiple closeups from multiple angles is what we were missing for a large chunk of time on them. I remember back when we only had the first movie it took me like 3 weeks to draw as close to an accurate depiction as possible lol. The reason it took so long is cause it's so big it wasn't easy to see anatomical details in the few shots we got and those wings always covered parts or were hard to find fully extended. Saw this one and I was so dissappinted. We saw Hiccup flying with them at one point, in one of the movies I think? They're massive dragons and this one is so small, perhaps it's young or something but the overall designs are terrible regardless. Also as she pointed out it could've easily escaped as could most of those dragons. The traps used back in Berk were far superior to a rope snare, ice cages??? (How the heck did he make those???) and a rope staked into the ground. In Berk they used cannons, ballista, metal traps, bolos, bows and arrows, metal cages and nets with metal or fire resistant materials infused into it (or using them on non fire breathing dragons, specific tools for specific catches after all). So really sad they dumb down all these dragons to deal with literal children's antics. They're wild animals and that's what made their threatening auras so believable in the movies and the Riders show. They actually tried killing people alot and succeeded too as wild animals should be able to.

Journey to the Snowcano is basically just Race to Fireworm Island, but far worse. They were trying to do with Jun the same thing they did with Snotlout, except with none of the amazing writing that made it work with RtFI. Snotlout was trying to save Hookfang and was willing to put himself in danger to do it, showing us a side to him we never knew he had and he was truly happy when he succeeded. Jun was trying to prove her myths were correct and maybe save Wu and Wei as well and was willing to put her entire team in danger just to prove it, showing us a side to her we always knew she had and she was a smug b*tch when she “succeeded”.

The lighting problem in the ice realm actually had an easy solution. The ice in the realm is clearly made of pure water given its light blue hue. Pure ice is incredibly reflective, so a large light source in the middle of the realm could light up a reasonable chunk of it thanks to those pure ice crystals.

So, its a bit of topic of the video, but I've made my own little head canon for Tom and why he does a lot of seemingly stupid or crazy things. From their interactions in the previous seasons, its clear that Tom and his mom have a very close relationship. So it would probably hurt Tom see how much it hurt Olivia when Tom's father and her parted ways, presumably through divorce. During her days of depression after Tom's father left them, Tom decided to do a lot of things to cheer his mom up, something like cooking for her or doing jobs around the house to making things easier for her, but nothing really cheered her up. Eventually, Tom decided that if he can't cheer his mom up, he'd have to make her focus on things other than his father leaving, like focusing on taking care of him. So, to get her attention away from the divorce, Tom decides to do crazy things like jumping into the polar exhibit to get his mother's mind focused on other things. But eventually, she is invited to the trench for research, and it makes her overjoyed for the first time in years, and Tom is more than happy to see his mom back to the high-spirited person he always knew. It's stupid and crazy, but it explains why Tom, who doesn't seem that interested in doing research, would be so happy to explore a fissure with his mom and why he would do stupid things like jumping into the polar bear exhibits. It would give Tom a moral dilemma very similar to Hiccup's story with Toothless, just like Audrie suggested in the Season 1 review, does Tom expose Thunder and make Olivia smile with a new discovery like he's wanted to help her with ever since the divorce, or does he keep Thunder hidden and protect his new friend? I'm sorry this was so long, but when I get a head canon I keep writing and writing until I basically make the outline for my own fanfiction.

I’ve been writing a character with purple eyes (not human, but aside from the eyes looks human), and I never realized how unnerving it actually looks. Right into the uncanny valley. Edit: Now that I've actually finished the video, I kinda want to see if it's possible to rewrite the series where it actually makes sense with proper character arcs and stories. There are a lot of bad things that seem to have had the potential to be good. I believe that it is not the concepts themselves that decide wether or not something is good (although as the foundation they obviously matter), but the execution. If you have a simple or potentially even bad premise, concept, or whatever else for your fiction but it is very well executed? Still turns out great more or less. But even the most immaculately crafted concept for a fiction won’t amount to shit if it’s portrayed poorly.

I mean unnatural eyes can be used effectively, see the Witcher with Geralt (and the other witchers) demonic possesion shown by black eyes, white eyes like in GoT or for oracles etc. If you're going for uncanny valley feeling in a fantasy race, that looks human at first glance but isn't, purple eyes should work really well imo

Here's my idea for fixing Journey to the Snowcano. The episode begins the same, up to when Jun is asked to translate. This time she doesn't make referance to the myth and is just worried about Wu and Wei. The two drag everyone to the mountain, and Jun actually listens to the others and tries to stop Wu and Wei from going too far. After a bit, she decides to listen to her dragon's instincts up until the post poison gas scene and everyone is ready to go. Jun at first argues but Tom shows her the book, and she starts crying not because she's a petty baby, but she doesn't understand why Wu and Wei are hurting themselves. She begs for them to stop when suddenly the Titan Mist Twister grabs them, and that's when Tom's book flips open to reveal the image. Everyone, including Jun, starts attacking, but then she points out that it is actually defending Wu and Wei, which prompts them to leave it. At the end of the actual episode, I really wanted Wu and Wei to stay behind, mainly because Jun makes no sense to have two dragons, and I just thought she deserved that. What did you think?

I read this theory other commenters are having which I really want them to be true which is Alex is the descendant of Hiccup and Astrid. Like genuinely that would be a great plot twist having the side character who is the best one of the show, be the descendant of Hiccup and Astrid which leaves Tom confused and frustrated at Alex. Imagining that flat earther deciphers the book, and actually read what it says. It could honestly have little things like Hiccups interaction with Toothless or the Red Death or stories of his dragon adventures and friends giving a wholesome moment to the fans and Tom getting hyped up thinking he’s related to Hiccup just to find out Alex is actually related to Hiccup and Astrid. Disappointed, Tom would act bitter to Alex throughout the season until Alex is sick of it and confronts Tom, leaving them arguing until Alex explains to Tom that this isn’t her fault nor he should be mad at her for being the blood of Hiccup and Astrid. However this theory is immediately busted with the heirlooms, Tom’s full name, his connection with the Night Lights. Although the show can pull another of those hey, let’s forget what we wrote the last season and instead create this more interesting concept that would appeal HTTYD fans and might lead interesting conflicts in the future for our protagonists having character arcs and feel more realistic people than 2d puppets using the corpse of an ended franchise for a money hungry company. It would no could make this show more successful and fans actually grow to respect it. But Dreamwork seems to not care for logic story telling.

In the snowcano episode, it's hilarious how Jun ignore the point of what Tom says. Here: Tom: "I'm trying to do what is best for the team." Jun: "Wu and Wei are part of the team!" No Jun... The point is not who is part of the team, it's about everyone being in danger. Tom:"Oh wow! Wu and Wei can protect us from the wind!" Jun in a passive-agressive voice:"Oh wow! It's like they need!" Jun. He litterally acknowledge he didn't know they could do that and that's why he was refusing to continue. Because he didn't know they have a protection. Here’s the thing The fact that the lock, let alone the hinges of the dragon box work PERFECTLY is a marvel on its own, as well as the key Let alone the book! The fact the book alone is in perfect condition, not even the slight wear and tear that you would see with these sorts of things, the fact that the bindings of the book, as well as the leather survived is an absolute MARVEL, not even a single loose page. The biggest/one of the biggest pet peeves is the fact that the series has my inner Norse nerd crying. they have ditched the whole Norse myth and history for Greek myth. Which would have been fine but Tom and his mother(I forgot her name) KNOW there from Viking/Norse lines(THEY HAVE A VIKING SHIELD ON THERE WALL) and to many people they try to get in touch with there roots and/or continue there ancestors wish. Which would probably be in this case 1 protect dragons(lost to time) and 2 continue and fallow the Norse myth and be a Norse Pagan. and since purple eyed girl(also forgot her name) is Chinese and even though she's a Greek nerd it feels like they dropped Chinese Myth and Norse Myth at the door for Greek. shown in Wu and Wei. Wu and Wei are based off Chinese dragons but its stupid. Chinese dragons are very different then Western dragon, Chinese have a sleek snake like look and normally don't breathe fire, normally they are water dragons and connected to luck/wealth. Now they could have done A LOT with Wu and Wei(like turn them into two snake like dragons and have her brother ride one), Norse myth(which they just ditched at the door), and Chinese myth(which they left at the door too). it also feels like there cherry picking cultures. This dragon will be named Wu and Wei but the dragon is a western one not a Chinese dragon. Oh Tom and his mother(still don't know the name) are Norse but they don't know what Odin is, And lets name the research site PROJECT ICARIS even though that means it will burn up beautifully. Which brings me to my next point They don't even care about the myths they are cherry picking. To anyone is unfamiliar with the story of Icarus. Its a Greek myth in which the Master craftsmen Daedalus makes the labyrinth of Crete to hold the Minotaur, After Theseus later kills the Minotaur and escaped. Daedalus and his son Icarus are imprisoned due to fact that King Minos believed that they exposed the secrets of the labyrinth to Theseus. Daedalus later crafts wings made of feathers, clothes, beeswax, and threads from blankets to escape the prison. Daedalus warned the young Icarus to not fly to low for he will drown in the sea or too high lest the beeswax to melt. Icarus ignored his father and flew up higher and higher to the sun in which the beeswax got hotter and hotter till it melted plunging him into the sea below leading to his untimely watery grave. Its a story about ambition. Too much and you get closer and closer to sun before you unceremoniously fall into the water that is failure. Too less and you fall into water before you even have soared.(note that the story of Icarus is copy pasted from another one of my comments) it may be a acronym but they chose that acronym there are many many more names that they could have used(PROJECT ODIN, PROJECT FENRIR, PROJECT FISSURE just to name a few. To anyone that read this all I am sorry that you had to suffer at the hand of my rant about Norse Greek and Chinese Myth. also to Audrie thank you for the amazing video like always.

The Nine Realms truly has to be one of the cartoons released in 2022 so far. Jeremy Shada did a job playing Tom Kullersen and the action was in the scenes. The cartoon has storytelling and the animation was animated. The side characters were along with Tom and the villain was a bad guy. The jokes were sentences. This cartoon really is one of the shows of all time, if not the last decade.

My first exposure to the HTTYD franchise was my parents buying me a DVD of the first movie for my birthday in 2010, having no idea what to get me. From then on I was hooked; watching it way too many times, playing the PS3 game (which honestly was kinda good), watching the other two movies as they came out, watching the shows, reading the original books... I honestly loved the last episode of the 4th season. Mainly because we got to see Thunder’s family. The very thing that Hiccup and Toothless had been searching for for most of the franchise (I don't think the 1st movie counts since they weren't actively looking for more night furys) had been accomplished through Thunder’s family. Though, it was also bittersweet because it ultimately confirmed that Toothless was, in fact, dead and that the whole Night Fury species most likely ended with him, meaning we’re never going to see a full-blown Night Fury ever again. Also, am I the only one who thinks it might've been Hiccup’s kids that went into the hidden world and that all that stuff left behind was from one, if not both, of them?

the villain from httyd3 was mentioned to have favoured using light furies as baits when hunting night furies. This could mean the 3 night lights of toothless werent the only ones in existence, since more light furies could have mated with night furies. maybe even naturally sometimes. so this might explain why there still is so much black in them. if they were to only mate with light furies after all, i'd be willing to believe that they'd be losing the dark color, but maybe if other night lights were a thing, then it resulted in the black being kept? maybe theres not that much inbreeding going on, I honestly hope that there has to be some other way of explaining it

I've been a massive fan of HTTYD since 2012 when I saw the teasers for the Riders of Berk show on Cartoon Network. Eventually I came across the first film while walking through the store one day and I was hooked. I watched all of the Riders/Defenders episodes premiere and grew an obsession for the franchise. I drew drawings of my own made up dragons and hung them all throughout my house (one of them still survives to this day). I came up with things to do with my family that involved the franchise and the first film was the movie I watched with my cousins after they had to stay with us after their house was struck by lightning. I type all of this to say (and I could type a lot more) that this franchise was a huge part of my mid childhood and your review of the first season is what got me back deep into the franchise. With that being said, I find the nine realms to be absolutely disgusting and an insult to HTTYD. At this point it seems as if the writers are purposely trying to throw salt in the wounds of the fans. The hideous drawings, the breaking of Hiccup's leg, Tom defacing the "book of dragons" and in general the lazy attempts to copy previous events from the franchise. All of this is incredibly disrespectful and I find it unbelievable that this is how DreamWorks plans to get money. I would've loved to see a show about Hiccup and his now grown children having conflicting views on rather or not to interact with the dragons, or a show set between 2 and 3, but instead we have the murder of the franchise.

Audrie is the only reason alone I finally got down to watching HTTYD, since I never saw the movies as a kid since I was never interested in the movies back then. I wanted to get into the movie series for sometime and maybe get more involved with the fandom, but I never had the time. So when Audrie's first Dragons: The Nine Realms (or DTNR if anyone is actually calling it that) came up on my recommended and I decided "why not?", by the time I finished it, I really needed to sit down and see the original series so I could feel, or at least understand, the anger the rest of the original HTTYD fans were feeling. So yeah, thx Audrie for pushing me to finally into getting into HTTYD. I love these videos and I worry for your sanity if these seasons get any worse.

i never watched the nine realms but your amount of rage actually makes me curious. like to see the destruction for myself. i actually hope they make a fifth season so i can watch more of your awesome videos
