@dammaguy1286 There's more evidence proving Kendrick's claims than there is any proving Drake's. Kendrick or Drake fan, the tone from both is telling. Drake started strong/offensive and ended weak/defensive. Kendrick kept strong/offensive and that automatically gave him the win not gonna lie to you.

When Childish Gambino says I put your boy in the seat what he means I put your boy in the hot seat. But I think everybody forgetting when that happened. That happened in Atlanta season two episode seven Champagne Papi, where he clearly outlines women going to drakes home thinking they’re going to find drake only to find they are lured there ( how it’s described on meet the grahams) very similar to the TikTok of Dennis and the young girl.

Its funny to hear people ask "What did Drake do?" They either are just being funny or just asking a rhetorical question just to ask because it aint like Drake just be minding his own business, not bothering nobody, and then "all of the sudden", out of the clear blue sky, mfs just dont like him ... Now we can argue about whats "justified" or who's just being "petty", but c'mon now ... Drake's been very active in his own "Hate." 😂

There is no world in which Drake can beat Gambino... now, Drake + his 20 ghost writers ... then he has a shot at going toe to toe ... but Gambino would still smoke him. Also, "Get you a wife so the culture can't keep dissing you so hard," is the low-key biggest admission of where Drake is as an artist right now that I've ever heard.

One of the things I've noticed about Drake is that it really does seem like he misses the actual meanings of lyrics. Metaphors dealing with American hip hop culture seem to go far over his head, which is acceptable given he seems removed from all but the superficial parts of it. The problem seems to be that Drake's crew apparently only points out the stuff that could relate to him while neglecting to provide the details needed for real understanding. Drake's getting cliff note quality support and using that to battle people that are working on the equivalent of Hip Hop (cultural) Masters and PHDs. Ghostwriters can't even really help someone who doesn't actually comprehend the depth of what they're facing. He either needs to get someone who either knows or is willing to learn about the culture or take the time to learn this stuff himself. I doubt the latter will ever happen given he seems more focused on the enjoying the superficial aspects of fame without actually taking the time to mature (both as a person and as an artist). Honestly, looking at Drake's career and his actions, it really does seem like he's treating hip hop as an acting role that he did just enough research to land. He's fully embraced the stereotypical 'perks' of his fame and seems to only be doing enough to maintain that. Drake's entire approach to hip hop seems to be that of an influencer maintaining their brand. He'll do just enough to meet fan expectations in terms of how a rapper should behave and react to slights but he has no actual understanding of why since he has hired people for that (even if they're slippin'). People aren't dealing with one man's ego so much as a trademarked character and the machine (the various producers, marketing teams, writers, and labels) that keeps it going. I do think it is very creepy that Drake seems focused on the women though, particularly those that are 'taken'. He's either coveting the women around his peers or attacking the ones they have long term relationships with. The guy wouldn't even have all the problems he does if he could just control his libido. Even that concert video with him and the girl who was underage showed him hyper-focused on someone he knew he shouldn't have but his own words indicated he clearly still wanted. If that girl had come up with accusations, he pretty much cratered his plausible deniability because he wouldn't stop talking.

That's why we always separate the art from the artist. I mean well, some artists, unlike Diddy and R Kelly. Drake is clinging on because of his outside character. Even tho he's like the most hated right now, he's still likable because of his hit songs. Fucked me up as a Drake fan, but like I said, we should just separate the art from the artist.
@shinzero0271
@shinzero0271 Ай бұрын
@@RickKells I do think it is difficult to separate the two when the artist is still doing the stuff. Separating the art from the artist still means that you're supporting their antics and further enabling it by being willing to continue to pay for their output. They have no reason to change that behavior because it is being normalized and overlooked. That isn't even going into how Hip Hop culture seems to let sex offenses and other problematic behaviors slide until it becomes a big enough thing for the mainstream media and judicial systems to actually care about. I mean, Drake says he's too famous to be able to get away with what Kendrick says in a time when people far more entrenched and established are just getting around to facing the consequences for that stuff despite it being a known thing in the industry for decades. No one wants to risk their money unless they have enough hatred for the person to be willing to face the scrutiny. The same can be said for mental health and how the culture will let someone have a total breakdown and just call them a genius while watching their behavior spiral as they become the complete opposite of what they were before.

I get that you react from a perspective of "hip hop is a sport" and writing, but you really are turning a blind eye to all of the factual evidence of Drake being a weirdo with all that "Drake can't catch a break". You can't talk on the culture and just ignore how weird it is he was texting a 14 yo about relationships in his mid 30s, spending time with 16-18 yr olds, kissing a 17yo and after finding out she's 17 saying weirdo stuff to her etc. Sometimes you gotta let a part of you die to grow, and that part for you is the love you still show for Drake by ignoring the shit he's done. Ignoring all that and saying "oh Drakes gonna respond" and "they'll lose their ammo if Drake gets married" is ignorant in this climate imo.

He missed the point of Kendrick's side of the beef if he really, truly can just move on and act like he doesn't know the truth. He says "well all knew" but no nigga we didn't all know. Or I'm sure most people didn't know the horrific pattern Drake continued over the years. Honestly as someone who's been through that "weird" shit, you see people like this every day. People want that stuff to stay under the rug in all aspects of society. It's insulting to victims but of course no one cares about them. They're either to be not believed or silenced so people don't have to feel uncomfortable.

I think a huge difference is that Donald Glover put in work as a behind the scenes person when it came to comedy and writing before he actually got famous for acting and music. As Childish Gambino, he did have the stereotypical rap braggart phase but he matured quickly as an artist and found his own path. His music doesn't hit the huge numbers Drake's does but it has way more substance and he doesn't even have to have many speaking lines in a movie or show to be a highlight of it. The guy gives off a whole different vibe that feels more authentic in general.

“I’ve never seen Gambino in that situation.” You haven’t seen Drake in it, either, since he doesn’t write alone or at all THP6 was deeply embarrassing. If that’s Drake’s best ideas, Gambino has him by half

If we were always this critical about or media consumption hip hop would not have become as bland as it did in the Drake era. Where black art was milked down for the audience.

Gambino would destroy Drake lyrically just like K Dot. Gambino is incredibly intelligent, he’s literally a WRITER. You saying Drake would out-lyric him is basically you saying Drake’s team of writers would out-write Gambino. But I still think Gambino would destroy him.

What I find is odd is how many subtle references Kendrick and Gambino (the slatt bars) are throwing toward Drake that reference Young Thug. I know people will think it’s a reach but I’ve always wondered if the “make Gunna look like a saint” on euphoria might have been leading to an angle where Drake gets accused of something to do with the Young Thug prosecution (sealed evidence or whatever). Because going off the first verse of The Heart Part 6 Drake clearly was anticipating that Kendrick would go much harder at him about a supposed incident of snitching. A lot of the verse itself was imo obviously written before Meet the Grahams and Not Like Us came out (that’s why when he actually starts talking about Not Like Us at the end, he gives up trying to respond in rap format and just starts ranting with no apparent angle in mind.) Now would Drake be that worried about Kendrick mentioning the incident where Drake got robbed and then called the cops? I don’t think so. Who would care? We all know Drake is a civilian at heart. What I think would REALLY be unforgivable in the hiphop space is something like if it turned out Drake cooperated somehow in getting Thug indicted because Drake was somehow implicated (keep in mind RICO cases are extremely broad and can literally pull you in as a defendant basically just for knowing the actual perpetrators of the crimes.) I mean it’s hard to draw direct comparisons here but Tekashi “only” snitched on dudes in the street as opposed to a beloved rapper/public figure and still can’t show his face on any platform besides Akademiks without getting mollywhopped. I just can’t help but wonder if Kendrick and Donald (being deep in the Atlanta scene) know something we don’t and that’s why Thug keeps getting subtly referenced in these contexts.

10:26 I think their whole point is that right now, he isn’t acting mature enough to have a wife. If he were to get one, and change his persona to be a mature family man I think that a lot of the rappers would leave him alone. Obviously not the ones like Future and Rick Ross who aren’t really upset about who Drake is as a person but just upset by what he did to them

Drake was in the fight. He was the coach and the ones in the ring were his writers. Kendrick punched all them out. And Donald Glover? Yeah, he isn't as prominent in rap, but just discussing PURE TALENT ALONE? Dude acts, sings, raps, dances, does comedy. What does Drake do? Just does comedy.
