Thanks coach, my 9 year old boy is a pretty good defender so he gets steals during games, however during the fast break layup he usually loses the ball because when he slows down for the layup the ball keeps going. We will work on the first and last tips. We appreciate your videos!
@davidhall44014 жыл бұрын
Dribbling with the ball tight to your body is excellent for fast break purposes because it keeps the ball from being exposed. Also a great way to get fast with the basketball while keeping it tight to your body is to work on taking big motion steps. Motion steps are simply the running steps you take while the ball is in the air (bouncing back up into your hand). Basically the running steps we take in between each dribble. The longer your motion steps, the more ground you cover, and the less dribbles you have to take to get up the floor. This also helps you stop on the dime

Coach Jesse... I've been a longtime fan and 'LIKE' all your videos. NEVER SEEN A BREAKDOWN OF THIS: EXTRA Ball Rotation on Dribble crossover Hand Transfer.... I always see the ball spinning marvelously in the receiving hand of pros after a dribble hand switch or crossover. This appears to also give you more ball-in-hand or hang/float time. Can you give us a detailed explanation of exactly how I can impart this extra spin/ extra revolutions to the ball so it lands like a top in the receiving hand after a crossover dribble ? Hard to explain... hope it's understable. Keep up the great work! -Carlos Cofresi Brinx NY

Should your hand be on top of the ball or on the side when "catching" it? I feel a LOT more comfortable dribbling with my hand on top of the ball in most situations(its natural to me), i've tried to incorporate the hand to the side thing but its just not for me. Does it really make a difference or i should stick with what works for me? Im confused cause literally everyone puts their hand on the side of the ball when running

Just started playing basketball... Never played competitively before and only played about 10 games of basketball in my life sporadically but I’m decent at passing because I played football. And also defense and stealing... shooting I frequently air ball though out of nervousness and dribbling for a layup oh forget about it!! I get the ball stolen from me when I’m dribbling 9/10 times 😂😂. Recently started playing with my best friend who is super athletic and plays every sport and it is insanely fun despite me getting my ass kicked in games for now.

1. When running and dribbling, flick hand down so that the basketball is controlled. At full speed: arms length At half speed: elbow length Drill for this; find a point and try to hit it while running. 2. To avoid running and hitting your feet, work on dribbling to the side. Drill for this; get a line, keep your body on one side and dribble the ball on the other. 3. To avoid stopping and the ball still going, you should focus on pushing the ball slightly back. Drill for this; use a line, dribble up to it, stop and push ball back.

So on that first tip, does that mean Basketball players look down when they dribble just to aim at a spot
@GetHandles3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes yes, but typically it won't be something that they really look at and focus on, but rather something that happens subconsciously with their peripheral vision. The tip is more for beginners to refine their precision with where they're placing the ball and gain an awareness of it until they master it.
