Yorubas say "lawlessness is the bane of anarchy." Politicians seem to be exploiting the ignorance of people who do not understand that there is some semblance of law and order in the country. Those who are not paid their salaries can sue the state or federal agencies responsible for breach of contract. This can be a class action lawsuit which will attract a lot of public scrutiny. The opposition parties should be educating the citizens about their rights if they really care about making a difference. Not taking action is why Politicians are getting away with murder in the country.

Jude you are truly amazing. I went to abuja recently and I just walked around. I saw a school and a church. The church was looking way better than the school. The school didn't even have windows. I wanted to cry cos i have been privileged to study abroad for last 16 years due to my parents relocation to the UK. U can literally look into the classroom and a few minute walk away from the school, you will see a school where parents pay millions for their children to attend. Nigeria is turning to a failed state.

@realjudebela the problem we have is that politicians don't send thier kids to public schools anymore, which means they care about public schools. If nigerian politicians are forced to send their kids to public school. I am certain, the quality of public schools will improve significantly, like they were in 1990s.

Corruption is pervasive in the Nigerian education system, affecting the allocation and utilization of funds. Embezzlement and mismanagement of resources meant for educational development undermine efforts to improve the sector. Additionally, teachers in Nigeria often receive inadequate training and professional development. Coupled with low salaries and poor working conditions, teacher morale is generally low, affecting their performance and commitment. Addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive approach involving increased funding, improved infrastructure, political stability, anti-corruption measures, teacher training, curriculum reform, and socio-economic support for families. Only through concerted efforts from the government, private sector, and civil society can the decline in Nigerian education be reversed, ensuring a brighter future for the nation’s youth. But I tell you, our institutions are very weak to deal with corruption, and this makes it IMPOSSIBLE. I sincerely weep for next generation😢😢

Underpaid teachers. Literally the people who shape the minds of young people. I remember being taxed my very teacher's who were meant to prepare me for a future of financial independence. And we wonder why we are where we are and I went to a private school. Mind you, things are getting more expensive. Why do we even bother !? 1.9 million writing jamb and many people fail but it just means that all of them are coming back to rewrite again because somehow it's their fault. The educational system won't change because the people who benefit from its failures won't let any change happen.

...moral instruction studies MUST be reintroduced into the schools syllabus. Also, trained seasoned educational administrators should be assigned to take oversee a certain number of schools in designated areas, they the administrators and head of the school must be held responsible for the development and progress of those schools under their guidance. The federal government and state governments should provide policies and grants to the education ministries, which in turn disburse the funds to the administrators and then to head of individual schools as when requested for a school maintenance/repairs and development. The government and education ministry's should hands off the management of schools, colleges, and universities. They should only provide the policies and funding and ensure funds are used for what they have been requested/required for and monitor the standard of teaching/education in each school.

Thank you JB, you're always saying things the way they are, I pray sooner than later your voice will be heard and Nigeria will rise again. Being a graduate from Nigerian public tertiary institution (Benue state University), I'm a living witness of all what you said. Sometimes I wish I knew about personal finance before gaining admission, because our education system is basically teaching over 80% of students courses that have no life benefits even after their graduation which is usually over extended as a result of regular strike actions by lecturers. I've been a victim like I said, spending 6 years for a 4 years course in Benue state University. Many of my mates won't be able to go for NYSC as a result of this irregularities. Thank you JB for the good work, God bless you.

WITH ALL OF THIS ALL OF THIS THE PRIORITY OF THE GOVERNMENT IS THE NATIONAL ANTHEM, what a shame!!!. I'd rather advise people to develop high paying income skills, because i've had people tell me they wished they invested their university time learning a skill.

And who's going to fund them? Things are more expensive now than ever, and to open a proper school with standard facilities is easier said than done. We're talking tens of millions of naira here, potentially hundreds of millions. Where's all that money going to come from? Well meaning philanthropists can donate, but it'll never be enough, and bear in mind, we're not just talking about one school here, we're talking about hundreds of schools across the country.
