If we take the whole ordeal with the Post Reboot Archie Comics into account, then Eggmanland was destroyed by the quakes caused when Dark Gaia was awoken, and further damage was caused when the continent was restored back into place over the core.

Also fun fact, Crimson Carnival isnt a fanmade name, thats what it's called in the Wii version. Kinda like how its Spagonia - Rooftop Run, its then Eggmanland - Crimson Carnival

Just checked this and no, the Wii version also just calls it EggmanLand. There isn't a single instance of Crimson Carnival being officially used.

To me Eggmanland is the Hardest Thing I have ever done in this Franchise and this feels like this Stage is the Doctor’s Madness and Ambitions, like this Dead Trap is literally Eggman’s Mind, it took me Weeks and to collect Extra Lives to Beat It.

Honestly, if there was a final sonic game, a level like this is what I want, showcasing eggman's experience and genius by creating his dream land "eggman land" to stop sonic in his tracks, throwing everything he has at him, using every battle and experience to show how much he has evolved.

I think it also takes a lot of inspiration from Final Egg, Twinkle Park and Eternal Engine. Final Egg with the treadmills, tube sections in certain areas and falling down where the lasers (Eternal Engine) are when skydiving, and the roller coaster in Twinkle Park.
