I don't know what pinterest shows you but it definitely has a very dark side to it. For some reason creepy stuff was shown by pinterest to me, when i only was looking for dresses.

And wow, that’s an interesting discovery you stated where when people want to go on a social media detox, they don’t include Pinterest. That’s funny because I’m ready to go on a detox (as a consumer) before I start my journey as a creator, and I never even considered Pinterest. Maybe because I don’t use it much, but even if I did, I wouldn’t think about removing it. I don’t even know if my mind places Pinterest as a form of social media. It just has its own special place in my heart. I’m also delighted to hear about the pledge each creator signs and how the platform focuses attention on creating a positive space. Thank you for your video :) I have a question, about "TAGGED TOPICS" on Pintereste: When I use the Pinterest Pin Button extension (Google Chrome), to pin my one of my Esty listings, does it add my Etsy keywords to my Pinterest pin "tagged keywords"? or is it better to go directly to Pinterest and pin from there (filling out the keywords and link and title and description)? Slide into my DMs on @creatingwithkaya on IG with your email 👀 I definitely hear you on the overwhelm--for those looking to start creating on Pinterest I definitely recommend using a tool like Tailwind if you have it in your budget ( tailwind.sjv.io/vn1aQv ) . It allows you to batch create a bunch of pins and just schedule them way into the week, month, or year even. And really just focus on repurposing instead of reinventing the wheel for everything.

Great video! Question- when you create your pins, do you repin your same pin to multiple boards? Or do you only post your pins once (let’s say for one blog post) and then move on to fresh pins. Thanks!

I would definitely link it back to your website, but the media you upload depends on your goals. Do you want people to buy things? Pay for your services? You will have to maybe make some pins with text on them that communicate what you are offering vs just uploading the illustrations on their own. I’ll touch on this too in my next video 🙏🏽

@kaya. I was in the middle of creating an Pinterest account and u stopped.. I remember having to report many accounts for plagiarism, when you clicked on their links it took you somewhere else or some KZbin nonsense that was completely irrelevant to the post. Then i read in a forum where it happens too many times on Pinterest and there are copyright complaints and others back and forth with the Pinterest legal team. Many times I say that on some posts, why are you stealing the designer creations for your account?

This is a very real issue--and I depending on the type of content you create it can be a big problem. (photographers, and as you say, designers). I've often had my photos snagged, and I report them as they come up, but I've also found people steal your imagery off the internet regardless--I find pictures of myself everywhere, even those I hadn't yet gotten around to posting on Pinterest. I hope they roll out some more tools to support creators in this, but in the meantime, I'd rather link my own content on Pinterest as the authority one, vs someone snagging it off my website and putting it there.

It really depends! I pin mostly using Tailwind, and I try not to do more than 10 a day. But often will go long gaps without pinning--I could be a lot more consistent than I am. 🫣

Great question!! Personally, I think it fits in best in a total digital ecosystem, leveraging multiple platforms, or at least a blog.. but it depends on your income streams. I have a video on different ones here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6DcoGSgjK2FmcU If say you were able to make a lot on affiliate links directly linked to your pins, and leverage a lot of brand deals on it, it'd be possible--but I find creators still need to do the heavy lifting to educate brands on why they should be doing brand deals there.

What you likely need to do is figure out the “purpose” behind putting your content on Pinterest, and the search intent behind the users who might come across your images. Are they to save and recreate themselves? Is it to help teach them about photography? Just to have visuals saved that they like to look at? If you do landscape, do you want to inspire them to go to the destination? Pinterest needs a bit more strategy than nice pictures.
