I don't know what pinterest shows you but it definitely has a very dark side to it. For some reason creepy stuff was shown by pinterest to me, when i only was looking for dresses.

And wow, that’s an interesting discovery you stated where when people want to go on a social media detox, they don’t include Pinterest. That’s funny because I’m ready to go on a detox (as a consumer) before I start my journey as a creator, and I never even considered Pinterest. Maybe because I don’t use it much, but even if I did, I wouldn’t think about removing it. I don’t even know if my mind places Pinterest as a form of social media. It just has its own special place in my heart. I’m also delighted to hear about the pledge each creator signs and how the platform focuses attention on creating a positive space. Thank you for your video :) I have a question, about "TAGGED TOPICS" on Pintereste: When I use the Pinterest Pin Button extension (Google Chrome), to pin my one of my Esty listings, does it add my Etsy keywords to my Pinterest pin "tagged keywords"? or is it better to go directly to Pinterest and pin from there (filling out the keywords and link and title and description)? I would definitely link it back to your website, but the media you upload depends on your goals. Do you want people to buy things? Pay for your services? You will have to maybe make some pins with text on them that communicate what you are offering vs just uploading the illustrations on their own. I’ll touch on this too in my next video 🙏🏽

I’ve found bloggers who have specific topics do well. I’m a painter and pin my paintings, but they don’t really do well compared to people like you who have specific topics/tips. I want to attract buyers, not other artists, so it’s tricky.

Yess I do hear you on that! I do think it's tricky for artists, because you can also run into people stealing your art. Do you create any content adjacent to your paintings? behind the scenes, how to's etc? those would be great to build your general brand awareness--but definitely understand if that's not the direction you're wanting to take.

Theres some type of update that requires us to enter Tags for eery post now, that pretty much killed my traffic and it takes forever to enter those tags because it lags. Even the update, i wasn't getting much traffic at all from Pinterest. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Do you mean with Idea Pins? That's the only place I've been asked to put tags, but I don't do a lot of manual pinning other than Idea Pins. I use Tailwind primarily to schedule my pins. That being said when I make my Idea pins, I see the tags as supplemental, and focus on placing keywords in the pin itself, the title, and the description/instructions section. I do have a video coming out more tomorrow on strategy that hopefully helps!

Slide into my DMs on @creatingwithkaya on IG with your email 👀 I definitely hear you on the overwhelm--for those looking to start creating on Pinterest I definitely recommend using a tool like Tailwind if you have it in your budget ( tailwind.sjv.io/vn1aQv ) . It allows you to batch create a bunch of pins and just schedule them way into the week, month, or year even. And really just focus on repurposing instead of reinventing the wheel for everything.

@kaya. I was in the middle of creating an Pinterest account and u stopped.. I remember having to report many accounts for plagiarism, when you clicked on their links it took you somewhere else or some KZbin nonsense that was completely irrelevant to the post. Then i read in a forum where it happens too many times on Pinterest and there are copyright complaints and others back and forth with the Pinterest legal team. Many times I say that on some posts, why are you stealing the designer creations for your account?

This is a very real issue--and I depending on the type of content you create it can be a big problem. (photographers, and as you say, designers). I've often had my photos snagged, and I report them as they come up, but I've also found people steal your imagery off the internet regardless--I find pictures of myself everywhere, even those I hadn't yet gotten around to posting on Pinterest. I hope they roll out some more tools to support creators in this, but in the meantime, I'd rather link my own content on Pinterest as the authority one, vs someone snagging it off my website and putting it there.

It really depends! I pin mostly using Tailwind, and I try not to do more than 10 a day. But often will go long gaps without pinning--I could be a lot more consistent than I am. 🫣
