It's not hard to see what the problems are. Taxation is too high stifling economic growth. The welfare system is out of control. We are paying millions of people to be economically inactive. Immigration is out of control pushing up house prices and putting pressure on public services but there is an agenda at play, it's all being done for a reason and no one is going to make the changes needed.

The Uk is 100% so negative. You cant realy exist in peace without judgement if your different or outside the box. I went to spain and no matter how much my social anxiety flared up(from bad experiences her in the UK) ppl were extremely kind, inclusive and understanding. I left feeling refreshed and confident in myself . I genuinley didnt know ppl in ither countries are just too happy(on a general societal level) to be hateful. The UK has a severe mob mentality and covert bullying culture that needs to be fixed asap. From work environmenta that are meant to be proffesional to just surface level interactions. Ppl in portugal for example still say hello and are cordial to people they dont like. In the UK people will fully just ignore you if they dont like you and treat you as less than human. It’s so sad. When working Brits needed cash infusion during covid, they got austerity. Things are not great in the US - housing, healthcare, etc and who knows what comes next (?) - but Pres. Biden and dems provided unemployment funds to most when they were critically needed. Couldn’t work during covid but the bills didn’t end. Those funds kept many Americans afloat and from falling into deep debt. Austerity killed the UK - that and Brexit. So sad.

I had a friend visit from Malaysia back in 2000. She said, "UK, great past, but no future". I thought that was a bit harsh, but I started agreeing a few years ago. If you've worked or lived in a few different countries, you can compare. If not, you have to go on what other people think, but YT makes that easier. I worked in Dubai for a little while and was glad to leave after some months (I have worked in the mid east before). I didn't really like the job. For a couple of days though (I was off sick) I went around Dubai and thought it was OK. Back in the UK A few years later I did the checklist, Dubai was coming out on top. Having someplace nice to stay makes all the difference. You can live in an apartment in Dubai with a gym, a swimming pool, underground parking, that's close to the Metro (which is computer controlled, always on time). It's generally safe too and go out at night and it feels peaceful. Heat, yes, but sunshine almost every day...but then, I've never really been into the UK's cold, wind and rain that much, and that's as a person that used to cycle year round. Of course, summer is nice (for those few unexpected days a year). Another thing is the UK democracy. It's a joke. Just like the the US. The one in charge can decide to attack another country or send money to commit genocide even while their own citizens starve. Total BS! A system that's 100's of years old. What makes them think it's fit for purpose now? Does everything else progress apart from the systems designed to keep the poor, poor? The ruler of Dubai's stated aim is to make the city the best in the world. He's got to this point in the last 30 years or so. How long did London have to get to this point? So, you can't really compare the two. Yes, they don't have everything right, but as a work in progress, it's pretty impressive. Of course there is no 2 party system with their shouting and trying to score points off each other. Just one person, with a vision for his city. What's the vision for UK.plc? What the UK really needs is the best people in the correct positions, doing the job for the good of the country, not for themselves/friends & family. After the last few years, it should be more obvious that life is precious, and governments can make bad decisions that may very well cut yours short. Surely there's a lesson in that!

Six months later you run into them and they've always got their excuses ready. "I'd miss football, the pub, family, TV programmes ..." You have to be prepared to plough it under. It's the same everywhere now. All Anglosphere countries are suffering inflation and stagnant economies and unfortunately due to these nations de industrialising, the Political and Corporate class see Mass immigration as a means to pump up their economies. This is just making things worse for individuals even though GDP gets expanded. Here in Australia, things are going backwards, but we are starting from a very high level, so it's still livable here. For how long, I dont know, but if you want a chance at a life where you can have disposable income if you work, Australia is the best place in the Anglosphere. Come to Australia. Firstly Dan , thanks for saying "because of lockdown" and not covid! Secondly, keep it up, I like your content. I'm currently in Thailand after Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Prague and Germany on this current 5 week trip. (Huge amount of research travel in the last 2 years.) Compared to most places I go to, the UK (esp. Scotland) is so oppressive and regulated, and that doesn't even equate to functional public services. I could go on. I have such a loyalty to my highland community in Scotland but sometimes at 64 I feel like I should take my modest pot of money and live free elsewhere.

Knife crime in the UK is defined as being caught by police with a sharp object. It doesn't exist in most other countries. Knife crime isn't attacking someone with a knife. If you check the statistics on stabbing deaths you will see that they are lower in the UK than in pretty much every single country in the world. Portugal has 4 times the stabbing deaths that the UK has but everyone thinks of it as the safest place on earth. You're letting politicians and the media scare you and manipulate you.

I can see that young people could do better financially and on housing moving out of the UK. But the UK still has a lot going for it . Culturally, it is a world leader. I would stay out of cities and large towns, but it has some incredible and varied places and incredible landscapes. Many places have almost no crime, where people leave their doors unlocked for years. The business environment is worse due to brexit but it is still easy to start up and without much interference, plus it is trustworthy with 30 days credit common. The weather haas been fairly poor this year but has had very hot summers for the last few years. The winters are damp but mild. There's little snow and ice in the south. I have too much ties to the U.K. right now, probably for the next 15+ years, as I have 5+ companies and I’m a reservist in the U.K. armed forces. (25 right now) Not one of brag, but as someone who is a multi millionaire, just going through a major company restructure to be as tax efficient as possible whilst remaining in the U.K.

I love to see comments like this, and it's reassuring. Like I tell people, even the happiest of countries have people who wanna move out because of one thing or another. So stay where you wanna stay, not because of what people say. Decide for yourself
