Ya, home ownership is pushed more then it should be. I was in my mid 40's when I bought my first house. My landlord hadn't raised the rent in over 15 years so I was living super cheap which let me buy the place when my landlord retired and moved south and it's already all paid off. But even without a mortgage I'm paying more on upkeep, utilities, and taxes then I ever did while renting.

I'm 55 years old with not enough set aside for retirement at this point. I have always been curious about the market and have witnessed people who played the game right and retired early. Some claimed they started very small, but their portfolio grew over time. I do have a significant amount but I’m unsure about which strategies or approach to take in order to achieve good returns. I'm open-minded and would appreciate any help or guidance.
@George-d6cc46 минут бұрын
I understand where you're coming from I've been in a similar situation myself. I'm 58 now, and I only started investing last year with $40,000. Within five months, I reached my first $100,000, and today, my portfolio stands at a solid $260,000. It's proof that it's never too late to start. The right investments can truly transform your life. If things continue going well, I should be able to retire soon. My only regret is not starting sooner.

Diversification did it for me. I ventured into real estate crowdfunding, stocks, and the digital market. It took around 6months. I needed to approach it from a different angle. I got my answers, and its been smooth since then. My CFA has been great, clearly my best one yet. I achieved this much with His management. What you need is a CFA who can assist you in managing your portfolio while diversifying your investments.

My wife and I are hitting the steps hard. As we are calibrating our budget to get things paid off. It does seem there is a minimum annual income that helps benefit to where you can save 15% a month for retirement. (Say 70k)And if you don’t make that a year it feels like saving that much gets eaten up by everyday expenses. Perhaps I’m not hitting the budget hard enough like a safari wilder beast. 🤷♂️ … after reading my own comment I’ve realized I’m only 5 k below that. I feel like millionaires who feel they aren't wealthy is because their wealth is locked up in a property asset. They also have money locked up in a retirement account that they can't touch. People who do feel wealthy are probably people who have liquid money they have access to now and spend it without worrying.
@andrewAssasin200336 минут бұрын
At 9:32 when he says do one thing t a time with focused intensity, does that mean say for example after baby step 3 is complete, and now you wanted to buy a larger expense but a luxury item not something you “need” like a new phone or the new furniture etc.. something that you wouldn’t just budget a small amount like $200 and be done with it but more so a purchase that costs $2000 +, would be saving all your margin being intense to hit that purchase asap and saving nothing else? Or would you be intense as possible but still dial it back a little bit to save atleast a small amount for something else? Because I feel like doing as people say with sinking funds, saving such small amounts for multiple goals I don’t think that you ever make progress and it takes wayy to long to hit the goals.

Hi quick question, maybe somebody can share some light on this for me as trying to understand how we should do it. We (wife and myself based in the uk), if I remember correctly we are advices to invest 15% of our take home into retirement/investment. does that mean we split the 15% amount between two or are we meant to put it all into one persons account. so if my take home before tax is 120000 and mrs is roughly 25000 are we meant to combine this and then take out the 15%. Also uk has tax free investment vehicles like isa (max £20000 each tax year per person) and lisa (£4000 per person but only accessible at retirement or for first time house purchase) . Thanks in advance

What's crazy is that a lot of people that are my age who are just turning 30 who bought their first home during covid think that they are millionaires which they're not because if you don't own your home outright with no mortgage payment you are literally in poverty but you look rich on the outside, I think real wealth in this country is getting outside of the system and being able to literally have no debt tied to your name and being able to work a full-time job that pays you with nothing draining your bank account and that is the difference between being wealthy and rich. Maybe I'm wrong but you don't need every toy in the box to look rich and the wealthy have the mindset of eliminating all forms of debt while having multiple streams of money because if your money is not working for you then you're doing something wrong.

Utilities, taxes, landscapers, normal upkeep and so on. We think we should sell than all and just cash dividend checks. Instead of writing thousand dollar checks, we should be cashing multiple thousand dollar checks. Keeping three homes so our heirs have paid off homes is pretty stupid the more we think about it. I'm a 2-millionaire on paper but it's all in the stock market and let me tell you when you can easily loose $100k in a day it's hard to feel confident about what you have. Plus if like me you have a ton of capital gains it is really hard to get your money out quickly without paying up to 40% in taxes. I've decided that the only sensible thing to do is to live on my salary for now and try and get to position where after I retire I can slowly get myself out of the market year by year while basically living my existing lifestyle. If I try to live too high on the hog then suddenly taxes go up enough that I won't be able to last the rest of my life on my nest egg. Now mind you I could say to heck with it and buy a Ferrari and a nice house tomorrow and look like a rich dude for a decade but when that was over I'd be some old dude living on Social Security and eating ramen every day and I don't want to be that guy.
