I've always appreciated stock 90's civics, they so cool and fun in their stock form too. I drive a 98 civic coupe since I couldnt get a hatchback, but to be honest I've fallen in love with it, and instead of focusing on performance I've been focusing on restoring it and properly maintaining it, it's relatively easy and more affordable compared to other cars I think, and I've learned a lot working on it. I owned a turbo golf before and while those care great and lightweight, theyre more delicate cars and I couldnt keep up with the maintenance since I'm on a thight budget rn. I had fun modifying and generally building my old car, but I'm enjoying my honda a lot.

Found my Mrs a 96 gli auto with 72,000kms in dark amethyst Pearl and it's such a beaut. Planning to restore the paint in near future and it'll be basically back to it's stock glory. Intend to keep it stock until she gets her full license and planning to only do handling mods. With 450kms on a full tank, it's been a breeze dailying it. Yes it's underpowered and yes my Mrs never rings it out but I'm happy to say that this EK will probs become a granny spec car because she intends to keep it that way forever. I've love to appreciate the stockness of it and it's such a nugget that we intend to maintain preserve the way Honda meant it to be.

Is it still fun in the auto? I've been thinking about getting the auto for daily driving but heard that it is sluggish and that it is best to just get the manual. (I drive commute in stop and go traffic in the city) Would you recommend the auto?
@harshivjotsingh8073Ай бұрын
@@crazyplayer5927 nothing beats a manual Honda from the 90s. Yes the auto is sluggish but the handling still makes it very enjoyable. My wife still prefers automatic, we live in inner Sydney so for her manual is too much work, constant gear changing is not enjoyable to her. If you're dailying it, it'll be easier to find a cleaner and cheaper granny spec auto EK than a manual. Enjoy the auto for a bit, if you like it as a daily then keep on driving it, otherwise manual swapping one isn't that hard or too expensive. Plus if you upgrade your daily EK down the line for a different car, you now have an auto EK to do a K/H/B swap (or maybe an EV/hybrid swap lol). Our civic has done 8000kms in its first year (daily driven) and that means it's gonna take until 2034 to hit 180ks. I think it's definitely worth finding a cleaner, low km car if you're gonna add more kms to it.
@crazyplayer5927Ай бұрын
@@harshivjotsingh8073 thanks for the input, finding a clean auto does sound pretty good then manual swapping it if my area changes. All the manual EKs are double the price of the clean auto ones, I also live in inner Sydney, I only use my auto golf mk7 to go to and from school (15 mins) and then for longer drives on the weekend. Even though I don’t commute that much in stop and go traffic, do u still recommend the auto just for now or will it be worth it to just spend a couple extra grand and get the manual?
@harshivjotsingh8073Ай бұрын
@@crazyplayer5927 personally I would save up the money and get a manual, in my wife's case it had to be automatic. That said you're not wrong about the prices of manual eks. ATM eg prices even for clean auto ones is going up. In a couple of years the same is probs gonna happen to ek prices. If you can save up soonish then definitely go for a manual otherwise I'd get a nice Auto gli and start buying manual swap bits slowly
