You're right about the enjoyment of a stock civic! They're more of a driver's car, without the technology to take over. Was lucky enough to find a manual 99' coupe last year. Always fun to drive!

Picked one up last year, it has been such a joy to work on and modify, I've been mainly buying used parts and everything to bring it back to 100% completely stock. I scored a set of first generation ADVAN RG in white, hopefully getting the tires mounted today. The car is slow but that is what makes it fun to drive "fast".

Picked up a 99 hatch last year. Also had a 370z which I sold recently just because I have so much fun with the Civic. Then a few months later my buddy just got a b18c integra 95, and his brother traded in his Supra to get an s2000. There is just something about driver feedback and feeling, you cant get with new cars. Now we cruise the old schools, our wives don't get it, but that is the fun in a project right?

I've always appreciated stock 90's civics, they so cool and fun in their stock form too. I drive a 98 civic coupe since I couldnt get a hatchback, but to be honest I've fallen in love with it, and instead of focusing on performance I've been focusing on restoring it and properly maintaining it, it's relatively easy and more affordable compared to other cars I think, and I've learned a lot working on it. I owned a turbo golf before and while those care great and lightweight, theyre more delicate cars and I couldnt keep up with the maintenance since I'm on a thight budget rn. I had fun modifying and generally building my old car, but I'm enjoying my honda a lot.

I had a 2002 Honda Civic Canadian model. I named her Sugar since she was that nice tan/gold color. Bare bones car manual windows, locks, no AC but man did she take care of me. I would blast down the highway at 90 mph and she could handle it no problem. She was my home for a short time. I will forever love that car.

Found my Mrs a 96 gli auto with 72,000kms in dark amethyst Pearl and it's such a beaut. Planning to restore the paint in near future and it'll be basically back to it's stock glory. Intend to keep it stock until she gets her full license and planning to only do handling mods. With 450kms on a full tank, it's been a breeze dailying it. Yes it's underpowered and yes my Mrs never rings it out but I'm happy to say that this EK will probs become a granny spec car because she intends to keep it that way forever. I've love to appreciate the stockness of it and it's such a nugget that we intend to maintain preserve the way Honda meant it to be.

Is it still fun in the auto? I've been thinking about getting the auto for daily driving but heard that it is sluggish and that it is best to just get the manual. (I drive commute in stop and go traffic in the city) Would you recommend the auto?
@harshivjotsingh8073
@harshivjotsingh8073 Ай бұрын
@@crazyplayer5927 nothing beats a manual Honda from the 90s. Yes the auto is sluggish but the handling still makes it very enjoyable. My wife still prefers automatic, we live in inner Sydney so for her manual is too much work, constant gear changing is not enjoyable to her. If you're dailying it, it'll be easier to find a cleaner and cheaper granny spec auto EK than a manual. Enjoy the auto for a bit, if you like it as a daily then keep on driving it, otherwise manual swapping one isn't that hard or too expensive. Plus if you upgrade your daily EK down the line for a different car, you now have an auto EK to do a K/H/B swap (or maybe an EV/hybrid swap lol). Our civic has done 8000kms in its first year (daily driven) and that means it's gonna take until 2034 to hit 180ks. I think it's definitely worth finding a cleaner, low km car if you're gonna add more kms to it.
@crazyplayer5927
@crazyplayer5927 Ай бұрын
@@harshivjotsingh8073 thanks for the input, finding a clean auto does sound pretty good then manual swapping it if my area changes. All the manual EKs are double the price of the clean auto ones, I also live in inner Sydney, I only use my auto golf mk7 to go to and from school (15 mins) and then for longer drives on the weekend. Even though I don’t commute that much in stop and go traffic, do u still recommend the auto just for now or will it be worth it to just spend a couple extra grand and get the manual?
@harshivjotsingh8073
@harshivjotsingh8073 Ай бұрын
@@crazyplayer5927 personally I would save up the money and get a manual, in my wife's case it had to be automatic. That said you're not wrong about the prices of manual eks. ATM eg prices even for clean auto ones is going up. In a couple of years the same is probs gonna happen to ek prices. If you can save up soonish then definitely go for a manual otherwise I'd get a nice Auto gli and start buying manual swap bits slowly

got mine 1996 hatch version since 2011, had a bunch of cars before, never chanced since I own it. 320Kkm. is in the process of complete overhaul since I'm not planning of changing it anytime soon. my father had a luxury opel insignia, it was so much crap reliability and repairs cost that It convinced me to keep my hatch till it dies. even if it dies ill swap it with the same engine. the simplicity of ek3 cannot be surpassed with any modern crap.

They’re awesome little cars, I’ve since put a type r style wing and some DHS wheels on it. Love to see a video like this on a stock civic, just a timeless design and like you say so much fun to drive, just cruising around town with all the little rattles of seat belts and road noise from the small amount of sound dampening make the drive super unique and makes you very connected to the car. Bus size steering wheel with no leather , soft seats like grandma's couch, plastic light shifting knob , awful siting position , and let's not forget about the armrest that is so hard and far back 😅 and how noisy.... But still the car my heart! ❤️

Not everything is about being quick and hammer down track times.🙂👆This is a great car that made to last for ever!!! With cheap basic maintenance it`s going to live for another 20-30 years.They deserve respect as much as a 2024 car and it will serve for a life time for sure.😉👌

About to go get one tomorrow for 3k (in my area that’s cheap) also starting a new job so wish me luck! Edit: got the car and quit the job. Getting a new job soon💀 I’m trying to get carbon parts to replace the side mirrors, hood and hatch. I need to replace a few engine components or swap it for a k20(my ideal engine for “mo powa”)
