McLaren's sequencing of pitstops made perfect sense in terms of risk mitigation, which is what every team would do in their place. Had they ignored what was going on around them and lost 2nd place to Hamilton or Verstappen all the critics would be screaming about their incompetence (again). Red Bull allowed Hamilton to undercut them and Verstappen wasn't able to reverse that. The McLaren drivers were told they could race into the mid 40 lap part of the race, so clearly they weren't able to race after the 2nd round of stops. Team orders have never been popular, but the teams aren't only interested in being popular. Their key metric is results for the stakeholders, so they don't want to risk those for a fair fight.

The trouble with most “fans” is that they fail to realise McLaren is a team that had only won ONE race before this season! They are having to learn not only how to be competitive again but also how to win races again, and regularly! They weren’t expecting to be serious championship contenders until next year at the earliest and yet it’s come early! People need to cut them some slack! Yeah, they could’ve done a better job with getting the 1-2 on Sunday but they still got it done! Get over it! Move on! 💁🏻‍♂️🤯

"On the face of it the Hungarian GP will be remembered" for McLaren humiliating their lead driver in public and threatening him to withdraw their support. Scratch that, they actually did withdraw their support and decided to back Verstappen for the title instead, gifting him 7 points. (If this was any other sport one may suspect "match fixing".) At least, Norris now knows that he is out there on his own and his worst enemy is in the car on the other side of the garage. Time for some soul searching, find his inner "Ocon" and destroy the whippersnapper. If this will cost him a few DotD votes, so be it. 😂 P.S. Stuart, don't forget Gilles Villeneuve in 1979 at Monza, by not fighting his teammate Jody Scheckter for the win he effectively relinquished his own title chances.

Everyone is approaching this like Norris doesn't matter. I think that's completely baffling. He's been with the team the longest, he has just signed a new long term contract, he is consistently the fastest driver, he had pole position AND HE IS AHEAD OF PIASTRI IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. If I was him now I would seriously be rethinking my future.

Wow poor Lando! The one time he gets team direction he wanted to defy them. Piastri has been asked by the team multiple times to help Lando or let him past. Piastri has always complied, Lando is asked to do it once and people are acting like it’s world ending. 😂 Lando has also thrown away plenty of points this season from his own wrong doing or his side of the garage making mistakes. People are saying what if he loses the championship by 7 points or less? So dramatic lol. Lando wouldn’t have won that race if Mclaren didn’t create the problem of undercutting Piastri not only once but twice. Piastri was the rightful winner. Mclaren made a bad strategy call to not pit the lead car first. Oscar didn’t deserve to have that race taken away because the team made the error, not Oscar!

@@JohnnyB-w8j Piastri dive bombed turn 1 and Norris was quite generous to give space. If that's the way they are going to decide who deserves to win then good luck. And if the team screws it up for Piastri why should that effect Norris? It shouldn't. Now the team has publicly bullied Norris into giving away a clear win, only his second ever, and made fools of themselves in the process. And probably lost the trust of what should be their first driver in the process. But I guess they are backing Piastri in the long term. That's the only logical conclusion to this sad episode. It's not only sad for Norris and the team but so so sad for F1.

I will maintain Ferrari had their engine turned up to an unhealthy degree, which is why it blew up every two races, and why they're both slower and more reliable now.

@@PunksterNL Slower because after 2022 the car ride height had to be increased mandatory to avoid porpoising, credit goes to Merc. The impact was porpoising was reduced but dirty air had increased which made following car hard to keep up with the car ahead.

Well you’d be seeing it wrong then. Piastri was always going to win. The only reason Lando ended up in front was due to Mclaren not pitting the lead car first. They let Lando undercut Piastri not only once but twice. Both of the undercuts let Lando get a net gain of 4-5 seconds on Oscar. What was the gap at the end? 6 Seconds! They were virtually neck and neck on pace. It wasn’t even a tenths difference per lap across the entirety of the race. Also Lando was told before the last stop, that he’d end up ahead of Piastri after he was allowed to undercut and stop first. He was then told by will Joseph that he’d then have to let Oscar back past after Oscar had stopped. Lando didn’t respond! He knew very well that he had to redress the order prior to the last stop. Will Joseph was right, Lando was only trying to prove a point that he should’ve won because of the teams mistakes on strategy. Lando deserved to win, so did Oscar so people need to stop saying it was a lame win. It wasn’t a lack lustre win, he deserved it just as much as anyone out on track.

Yeah, i understand about all the whos gonna pit stop 1st will get 1st place and Norris was pitted 1st to cover Lewis etc etc. When you are watching racing, the lead car slow down just to give 2nd car a win like that.. its lame. No matter what reasons it is or whether its vaoid or logic, this is racing. To give up 1st place is a sin to me.

@@nizammazlan8613 then the sin is Lando’s to shoulder. He gave up that lead, the team may have pleaded but he chose to let Oscar past. So to me that doesn’t take away from Oscar winning at all, Lando is the one you should blame according to your rhetoric! To me Mclaren are the blame, neither driver should have any finger pointed at them.
