Not taking anything away from mena, a great win defo top 3 in the world, punk, big bird, and mena. However, punk's evo win is just soooo much better than mena's evo japan win. Punk against big bird whom punk 3-0'd in winners finals and big bird was putting up a fight against punk in grand finals to show that punk wasn't up against a man with no resilience like kakeru, he was up against a beast. Bigbird is looking like to be the top 2 most dominant player in the world leading up to that winners finals with punk. Kakeru is inconsistent outside of japan.

What is Kakeru's Bison gonna look like at EVO I'm mostly interested in the counter picking and which characters they have in pocket. Peoples knowledge is burnout is going to be very pivotal this EVO for SF6. People have been getting too burnout happy without fear of chip damage. Bison and aki both feel built for this current patch, and i wouldn't be shocked to see either win evo. Cammy mains better come with a second character too, because she has rough matchups against some grapplers, and manon, gief, and lilly all are feeling good this patch.

I agree, Punk is the number 1 raw talent in the world. He loses when he's mentally troubled. Menar is the most stable who can push by sheer will power. Du is a great player but not as stable and Nephew is really good when he taps into his dark hadou.

To be quite frank Brian there is SOOOOO nany more people to sift through the ranks that the odds of having something like a perfect Honda/Lilly/Zangief/etc. go far are higher. Ir's the popularity problem. The more people play really good characters the more everyone is used to playing against them. Conversely the people that are played the least have the biggest chance at surprising.

I guess consider how Zangief doesn't have his two best reps showing up he wins the "strong character predicted to underperform" category in this vid, but honourable mention to Juri and Chun-li. Chun is similar to Ken where she had no business getting only a slap on the wrist, but nobody seems to have picked her up instead going to the DLC picks who are arguably not even as strong as her. If anything there's been a fair amount of top players who've dropped (?) Chun-li. Meanwhile Juri for some reason got strictly buffed, and the universal scaling changes to lights benefit her so much since she wasn't doing much conversions off lights anyways. Again, nobody's picked her up when she's arguably as good if not stronger than the DLC characters and the best Juri Uma decided to retire.

Her oki off many of her best situations got worse and for a character about snowballing and offensive pressure it was a death sentence.

@@DavimonVtube the system mechanics themselves drastically nerfed her as her strongest point was her ability to force burnout. She's worse at that due to the meter gain buffs. Her anti air game is terrible which makes her overly dependent on parry anti air. Nerfing parry was crushing to her. Changing drive reversal from -8 to -6 changed her from a heavy starter to a light, from 70% off a punish to 16% or 30% if you use level 3 which is brutally difficult off a light. This allows the entire cast to trivialize her pressure with reversals safely. And yeah they nuked her Oki which was also incredibly damaging. The only buffs they gave her were damage which is the only thing she doesn't need. There's a reason there are no high level Marisa players anymore. People who don't play her at a master level just don't understand how trash she is now.

@@crimsonraiza3633 high level players say a lot of things, they generally are just making noises for the sake of noises. The stats tell you pretty much all you need to know. Last month she was the 9th most used character and was 18th for win rate in master rank. She's only got positive win rates against guile and Zangief negative against the other 20+ characters. Her highest level players remaining use different characters when they are trying to win like shuto. She's hard bad. As bad as bad get. People just don't pick up on that because the average players make a lot of mistakes and boy howdy does she crush mistake makers.
