I've been a Flight Attendant for nearly two years now and I only got here because I put my application out EVERYWHERE! At first I was only applying to the "Big 3" (AA UA DL) and went about a year and a half of straight rejection at various stages. I wanted nothing more than to start flying and decided to just put applications out to everyone hiring. All of a sudden I got a phone interview with Frontier and the day after I passed the phone interview I got a face to face with another airline. In one day I got two face to face interviews! They might not have been airlines I thought I wanted to be at but it was a start and it would get a foot in the door. Go apply! Join us in the skies!

3:40 For anyone who’s serious about becoming a flight attendant: APPLY FOR REGIONAL POSITIONS AS WELL. If the airline is large enough they will have regional airlines operating for the main airline. This is a really good way to eventually work for the mainline. (Stella and I work for the same airline so I’ve seen this happen as well.)

@@jonathanhennigan-cruisepla2057 I understand you. I am sure that this said manager's job is simply to coordinate flight operations, crew scheduling, and certainly issues like late or short organized flights on the regular basis. I am sure they cant take too much time with given crew members unless they were part of a fight, emergency, or other reportable issue. Yet, my feeling is that they are experienced cabin crew in their own right and certainly able to deal with anything that happens as cabin leaders and thats all they are supposed to be right?

I got extremely lucky so far. I have been a avid traveler my entire life and always thought about becoming a flight attendant but I really got the urge this year and decided to give it a shot. I checked American Airlines and United’s websites but neither was hiring but Delta which was #1 on my list was so I applied and was immediately put in the process and within a week I got invited to the headquarters and will have my face 2 face next month. With that said I have 16 years of customer service experience and another 8 years of security experience as a United States Marine so I’m sure that all helped along with me being a male and black so I probably check a lot of boxes for them🤣

Here is what you really need to know. I was a flight attendant. You make no money for many years. They look to hire women like Stella that are married and have spouses that make good money. They know these women will stay because they don’t have to worry about their income. The job is really boring except when you get to stay in fun places for a period of time which doesn’t always happen. For the first several years you will have the worst schedule and get the worst trips. Until you have enough seniority you will hate it. You only get paid from the time the doors close on the plane to the time they open. That’s it. When I was a flight attendant I made $16 an hour. I was lucky if I had 30 hours on a paycheck.

@wadew40913 жыл бұрын
That was just an example. She did say you work as little as you want or as much as you want. That's the flexibility we have. At the airline I work for some FA work minimum hours which is around 35 to 75hrs a month while some work max hrs which is around 75 to over 150+ hrs. With more seniority you gain you have more control of your schedule. 40hrs as a flight attendant is not the same as a 40hrs 9 to 5. For example so far this month I've worked 66hrs but at this point I'll be paid for 108hrs because of how trips are credited. You may have a trip that's blocked for 5 hrs but based on several factors ....the trip is credited at 8hrs...

What’s the reasoning (other than the obvious “to save the airline money” or i”t’s always been done that way”) for not paying you guys for the stuff after you check in to the airport but before the door is shut? In most other jobs, if an employer refused to pay for things like opening the store or making sure the equipment was working properly before starting production, it would be wage theft. It’s similar to courier work where you’re not paid if you’re not carrying someone / something but should really be closer to transport work / bus driver where they are paid once they clock in.
