@@patricke8627 That's an example of genetic modification which is a valid method, but purely selective breeding by itself is enough to make a fruit overwhelmingly sweet (and hence make it sell more). They have done the same to chicken and turkeys, breeding only the large and muscular ones has produced the birds we have now. Keep in mind that's not evolution though, that's just selecting a previously existing feature and exaggerating it in the species. There is no new genetic information, nor any new feature.

Fruit did not cause your heart attack it was the Standard American Diet(SAD) that caused the arteries in your heart to become occluded preventing proper blood flow. People all over the world and those living in "Blue zones" (high percentage over 100 yrs old) eat high fruit and complex carb diet. NO Blue zone area exist where the population consume high animal diet. Why? Although people in these areas eat small amount of meat(e.g. Okinawa, Japan) they eat mostly complex carbs(e.g. rice, fruit, beans). Also, Americans have created a highly stressful societal environment "rat race" in an effort to accumulate material things aka "keeping up with the jones". Stress causes inflammation throughout the body and the heart is no exception. The inflammation in heart arteries can cause spasms which narrows the heart arteries. Therefore, some particles(e.g. cholesterol, plaque) in the blood are not able to flow through the temporarily "smaller" artery and "stick" to the artery inner surface......until partial or complete occlusion(heart attack). Other cardiac problems are highly influenced by genetics factors for example scientist don't know why but 20% of the U.S population do not efficiently metabolize cholesterol. Therefore, the liver produce most of the cholesterol (800mg/day) the body needs, additional cholesterol intake(e.g. food) should done cautiously for people with a genetic disposition for hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol).

a healthy liver can deal with fructose with no issues. She's acting as if glucose and fructose follow the same metabolic pathways, when they do not. Fructose is metabolized solelyby the liver and small intestine, while glucose can be used by every cell in the body. If you're not ingesting excess amounts of glucose, your body will know when to convert sugary into glucose and when to convert it into glycogen, the stored version of glucose. Fruit also has fiber and fat soluble antioxidants that benefit the body's health. Glucose will go straight into the blood, fructose will not immediately enter the blood. I believe she is mistaken on this.

Wow!! So wrong in so many ways. Raw Fructose does not raise insulin levels. (An Apple is about 50% fructose and 50% glucose.) And she made no distinction between raw plant-based sugars (fructose & glucose) compared to cooked/processed sugars. Geez, Now I wonder what else she has gotten wrong in her other videos. People, eat all the raw organic fresh fruit you want. You will be far healthier and you will lose all your excess weight. It is the natural diet for the human body. Its high water content and fiber slow the insulin production.

The biggest “cheat” is when they eat enough glucose above 100. Before you focus on the glucose /fructose argument, check blood sugars before and after (1-2 hours after is ideal) the apple. Jemmo - If you think there is no difference between the sugar found in a raw, fresh, ripe, organic apple compared to a Twinkie.. then you will never be truly healthy or free from some kind of disease or malady. This is one of the major reasons why confusion persists as to what it takes to be healthy, loose weight and keep it off. If I have two apples, one apple sitting on top of the kitchen counter and the other apple is placed in a 400° oven for 10 minutes, these two apples are now very different. The apple sitting on top of the counter is actually healthy still. The apple that has been exposed to an extreme temperature now contains “processed” sugars (cooked) and is unnatural, unhealthy, and unrecognizable to the human body. Heat (as well as light and oxygen) harm vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. This is one of the first things you learn when studying nutrition. But it’s almost never talked about in the media (tv news, newspapers, magazines,etc), and this is why disease and obesity still persist.

First reaction from most were that they didn’t drink soda or eat candy and so they couldn’t cut out sugar. However most of them were eating fruit all day long and having large fruit bowls after lunch. When I mentioned this they said but that was healthy sugar. Nothing wrong with seasonal fruit, but there is something wrong with year round consumption that bypasses the seasons that God also created. Adam and Eve were also created with flawless DNA so that eating any kind of food they wanted wouldn't become the problem that is today. Flawless DNA would also mean that marrying a sibling wouldn't be a problem either. It's a big problem now that we have accumulated so many genetic mutations.

Allmost all fruits have a glow glycemic load, meaning they have little impact on blood sugar. That's because fruit, unlike processed foods, contain lots of water and fiber which slows down the absorption of sugar into the blood. The fact that she didn't even adress this, even tho it's the most important argument seemingly, already disqualifies this video as objective. Fruit is almost the only food in nature that we're attracted to, which should already be a huge red flag for anyone who wants to eat what our bodies were designed for.

No fruits prior to domestication contained levels of sugar even close to the high levels ours do today. You're correct that fiber helps mitigate the absorption of nutrients like sugar. While this is beneficial in the case of fruit, it is not evolutionarily sound. Evolution selects for efficiency. Pre agricultural humans did not treat fiber as an essential nutrient. They did not have strategies that used fiber to mitigate absorption of nutrients. Like all animals, we adapted to the proper food for humans. These fruits were not part of that process and neither was fiber to any substantial, consistent degree. They mostly ate meat and incorporated plants as a secondary alternative, as a survival food. No animal in nature that cannot break down fiber with its own digestive system (via gut bacteria) takes in fiber as the basis of their diet. Fiber is not an essential nutrient for humans regardless of what the current paradigm says. Fruit in this form and fiber are not ancestral foods for humans.

Well most of the cells in our body can't actually process fructose so it's most completely metabolised in the liver essentially the liver converts fructose to energy this energy can't leave because of its molecular makeup and if there's any excess fructose after the energy conversion the liver stores it as glycogen which can be broken down into glucose and sent to other cells for use, the liver can only store so much glycogen once it's fully stocked the extra fructose is used to create triglycerides which can be moved outside of the liver for long-term storage as fat so based on this fruits which contain a lot of fructose must be bad? well actually no not at all fruits are loaded with water fiber and other nutrients so they take a while to digest therefore their fructose hits deliver. fructose is not unhealthy when it's consumed in moderation in the form of whole foods like fruits and vegetables.

I think the biggest difference is you gotta digest that fruit in order to get the sugar from it.Thus it takes time and your body is probably using that sugar by the time whole process is finished. On the other hand eating or drinking something processed means you can transfer that sugar to your bloodstream waaaaaaaaay faster. It is not just about how much sugar you consume,it is also about how fast you consumed it. Think it like getting drunk. If you drink in one sit you are more likely to be drunk compared to drinking all day long but little by little.

@Vandana Uniyal, I'll offer an explanation. Genetics and the type of diet you were brought up on. I guess you're fasting blood sugar is 74 because that's pretty low by my standards. I'm of northern european descent exclusively. As a biohacker, of sorts, I've keto-adapted - there are ketones in my blood all the time. My fasting glucose tends to run higher than it did, often in the 90's (sometimes known as a "dawn effect" as the liver easily makes glucose). I also speculate this is simply because my body just doesn't use a lot of glucose. The brain and central nervous always require some, or prefer some, but the rest of the body is happy to run on fat. I also speculate that, because my fasting glucose typically isn't low, I rarely feel hunger, and certainly never ravenous hunger. I can easily go all day without food, while doing physical labor. I really enjoy this type of metabolic flexibility. BTW, my fasting insulin is less than 1.0 units.

I had alot of problems with binge eating etc, i've finally gotten my diet together more, i've also gotten in good shape again after a few depressing and messy years and fruit is honestly a part of it. It's a snack that is low on calories, theres also signs that point to how it can be good for your skin, some of them also have a decent amount of minerals and vitamins and most importantly it's really really tasty. I think it's funny how everyone on different diets always have to create propaganda on why their diet is the best and why everything else is bad.

There is no propaganda, some diets just work differently for others. And it’s not a secret that fruit isn’t the healthiest. The main problem is fructose. For example an average size banana usually consists about 15 grams of sugar, which is four teaspoons of granulated sugar. And that’s a lot if you’re on a diet, especially on a daily basis. And if the sugar is natural it doesn’t make it healthy. And no, fructose does not clear your skin, I can say from my personal experience with 5 years of bad acne You don’t have to be afraid of fruit however. Of course there are a lot of healthy sources in different fruits, like berries. But eat it as a treat only, and not on a daily basis. I also love fruit but yeah we all have to make sacrifices

Yes dry fruits packed with excess sugar which better to limit consumption of it, but fresh fruits 3 serving per day is required for optimal health. My own empirical experience with mono diet fasting of Apple's in 30 hours fasting ,showed stabilizing blood glucose, ideal range of blood pressure and loads of energy. By the way you have it all wrong on how carbohydrates are stored. Its as if you think that excess carbs that the body doesn't use gets stored as fat in the body. This is not true one bit. If carbs are consumed in excess they are actually stored within your muscles and live as glycogen. It is actually very hard for our body to convert a carbohydrate into a lipid. Where as you eat extra fat then it is easily stored within your fat cells since well.. its already a fat. It is also important to take note of is that carbohydrate and protein are about 4 calories per gram whereas fat is sitting around 9 calories per gram.

As for the rice situation from the studies what I've seen, Asians from what I know eat rice quite a bit!) how come they still stay healthy, and from studies I've seen, The average life expectancy for Asians are 76 for males and 80 for females? Also not to mention how you related dried fruit to fresh fruit? Which goes through a process and also adds processed sugar. I have also eaten fruit for a very long time and I am still in shape and haven't gotten a chubby tummy nor has my family. It is my understanding that sugar, by any source will become the primary fuel and fat will be stored. One needs only to look around at the number of fat, obese and unhealthy people are in our society today. While the poor health is not totally related to sugar, processed carbs and artificial additives are great contributors. It seems that it is a culmination of many bad or unhealthy things in today's world. So far as the rude comments, or doubt that this person is a medical physician, please be kind and present facts. he he, be careful saying "essential." There is no essential carbohydrate. But you make a good point. Originally it would have been a seasonal thing, if at all. Now, with fossil fuels and modern transportation, people can indulge year around, even in Northern climates. People can even do absurd practices like a fruitarian diet (which is the fastest way to tooth destruction known to humans). Another factor is the modern fruit has been selectively bred to grow larger, with more sugary flesh and few or no seeds. Then these fruits are marketed as healthy. Well, sorry, fruit is very much overrated and will certainly not negate the effects of an already nutrient-poor diet.

I can point out atleast one misconception that this woman has and it's that she has this idea that carbs are always stored as fat when in actuality they get stored as glycogen in the muscle cells until there's no more capacity and then with the excess there are two paths and it's either sped up metabolism to compensate( I forgot the term used to describe it) or it gets conversed into fat and then stored as fat but only of there's no more room for glycogen of course. Fats whether consumed or conversed from carbs are always stored as and nothing other than fat, she also probably doesn't know that dietary protein in excess which is common in low carb diets is conversed into glucose or carbs. Her fasting blood sugar seemed to be a bit high for someone who avoids carbs which are to people like her are supposedly the driver of insulin resistance, It's a bit contradictory to her narrative. My last blood test showed a whopping fasted glucose of 84 mg per dl and I eat tons of carbs and limit fats.

A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding this video. Dr. Bosworth says very clearly that this is advice for people who are not yet at their ideal weight. Eating fruit can stall your weight loss. If you are at or near your ideal weight, then sure, enjoy fruit in moderation if that's what you want to do. I don't think fruit is evil (though I neither like it nor eat it myself). I think fruit was originally a beautiful gift from nature, ripening towards the end of summer or in the fall so that animals, including humans, could put on some fat stores to see them through the winter. But most of us are no longer hunter gatherers, and our issue is no longer to put on enough fat to survive, it's to avoid putting on so much fat that we sicken or die. But fruit is still a beautiful gift from nature that we should be thankful for, and not call evil. It's certainly not nature's fault that we're all obese these days.

To say that this is miss-leading is an understatement. Fruits have ALOT of fiber in them which reduces the rate of intestinal absorption, meaning that your liver can easily handle the steady stream of sugar coming from a piece of fruit as it comes slowly. The fiber will also fill you up, meaning that after eating an apple (which takes time, compared to eating chocolate), you won't really be much hungry to eat the next one (unlike chocolate). There are numerous studies showing how people consuming MORE fructose through whole fruits have LESS blood sugar problems than those consuming LESS pure or refined fructose. So in the end, fruits are not evil, especially when compared to junk food or sweets. They are only "evil" if you eat specific fruits with low fiber (such as grapes) or if you eat high quantities.

(Edit: Oh I see you mentioned your mistake in your writing box). Also I tend not to agree about your take on fruit. It's definitely an overreaction to call fruit evil! Diabetes runs in my family, my dad is currently in the hospital in critical condition because his blood sugar shot up to 600 over Christmas. All of his brothers and sisters shoot insulin. I know a lot of people can binge eat sweets and they're just fine. I cannot. I recently started keto to combat severe acne, and it cleared out completely. If I even eat a banana or a couple strawberries my sugar goes nuts, my face breaks out and I'm extremely lethargic... So for me at least, yes, sugar is evil, even if it comes from fruit.

What happened to a good healthy balanced way of eating. There are no secrets to eating, eating a lot of fruit and vegetables with sources of whole grain carbohydrates, some good fats and protein is only going to do you good. Also when you digest fat it is stored as fat. When you consume a lot of fructose sure fructolysis produce a lot of acetyl CoA which then can be converted to fat if not used in respiration and similar for glucose (although glycolysis is more controlled), yet why are carbohydrates deemed so bad for weight gain even though lipids are absorbed and stored straight into adipose tissue while ‘sugars’ go through various chemical reactions until it can no be readily used and then it can be converted to fat. Also fats are not a preferred fuel source for the body, in order for our bodies to respire (which allows us to function optimally) lipids have to be converted into glucose through gluconeogenesis which requires energy to do so. If ketosis is such an optimal state for humans to be in, based on how complex our bodies have evolved it would surely have been natural to be in that state if it is so advantageous to our health. No one is getting obese eating 3 balanced meals a day with a lot of fruit and vegetables. The obesity epidemic is not caused by people eating too much fruit😂

I was annoyed when I saw this video nearly 3 years ago until I got sick. Do I blame the fruits for my problems? ABSOLUTELY!! Because I used to eat tons of them; Oranges, bananas, apples etc (including the fibre). Now I'm doing great again after eliminating these EVIL ONES. Now I eat mostly carnivore with some few veggies like broccoli in moderation. Sometimes we say "everyone is different" when it comes food allergies. But ladies and gentlemen, sugar isn't selective, and it gradually will destroy you regardless. And neither are starchy foods healthy either in a long term. Much thanks to Dr. Boz for saving lives.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp3Ji6mki5mpa5I Have a look at that. He mentions asians and the fact they don't get as fat. Even though they in Japan has a much lower obesity rate, the rate of type 2 diabetes is almost as high as in the US. They don't have as many fatcells as we do, so they get a lot more skinny fat. meaning visceral fat around the organs and so on. Whether or not insulin is a fat storing hormone is not up for debate, that is scientific fact that you can find in any medical literature on the topic. Whether or not sugar and carbs rise bloodsugar and insulin is also a fact, for bloodsugar you can even meassure it yourself if you want, but also insulin can be meassured by the doctors. Both theese statements are completely right and true and not up for debate. The only controversy here is when you say "Well if insulin stores fat, and fruit (carbs) rises insulin, that must mean fruit makes you fat" Then a lot of people get triggered, because that is not something they want to hear.
@martinirving3824
@martinirving3824 6 жыл бұрын
@Thales, Exactly. Figures vary but Asians have less obesity but higher diabetes rates. They tend to be TOFIs as you mention. It turns out having lots of fat cells that can expand is protective against diabetes. The glucose is sequestered out of the blood stream. Fat cells (adipocytes) have a finite expansion capacity (hypertrophy) and once this is reached glucose must be put elsewhere such as ectopic fat. Interestingly, some people have the ability to produce more fat cells (hyperplasia) seemingly indefinitely. Again, this is protective as the new cells can accommodate and sequester glucose. This explains people who can be 400, 500, 600 lbs but evidently non-diabetic. Strange.

Obviously something high in fibre, a whole food is not going to be react the same way in our body as 2 measuring cups of processed granola, the fibre changes the glycemic load. Also pay attention to our taste buds: the most prime real estate for looking for food to eat is sweet. Added sugars wreck havoc yes, but fruit does not.

If a person's metabolism is already negatively altered due to decades of too much sugar consumption, especially highly processed foods containing high fructose corn syrups, eating fruit can continue the damage already going on inside the body. Eating fruit too often, like every day, more than once a day, is too much sugar in the body ... We need to eat less frequently, and more "in season", according to our climates.

Thank you for this video! I used to argue with my older sister that the sugar in fruit is just as bad as refined sugar. She was having none of it, and kept feeding my nephews fruit while depriving them of "sugar". I rarely eat fruit, and I had a sister in-law who kept trying to get me to eat it; because it was supposedly better for me than other sugars. BTW, the sugar in fruit is fructose, which goes straight to the liver and almost immediately is stored as fat.
@christoph4977
@christoph4977 Жыл бұрын
Your sister is right. There are literally dozens of RCTs that proves this. And the fiber in fruit actually prevents most of the fructose to be absorbed through the cell walls in your intestine. Also, fructose is converted to glucose and then glycogen. Only once you exaust your liver and muscle stores, will it be converted to fat. So basically everything you said is wrong.

This video explained that there is sugar in fruit but didn’t explain the title “fruit is evil”. Eating fruit which contains sugar, obviously, puts sugar in your blood but that doesn’t make it evil. I assume your point was that large amounts of sugar in the blood causes damage, but that should have been clarified. I believe that all things have a purpose and the main problem we have is over indulgence. Over indulgence is what causes most of our health problems today. Someone with hypoglycemia might need to reach for that “evil apple” if their blood glucose levels are dangerously low. But someone that has flooded their body with sugar should definitely stay away from that apple. Maybe the title should be “Over indulgence in sugar causes health problems”. Just a suggestion...

This is total bullshit. Fruit (fructose) is absolutely different from refined sugar. Fruit is the natural human food and fructose does not spike insulin, as you can easily test. All our closed relatives, the primates, eat primarily fruit in nature, and they are strong and healthy and they do not know about chronic illnesses as we do. Refined carbs on the other hand have been heated (you can't eat raw rice or wheat or potatoes) and are therefore denaturated, they are complex carbs, which the body has trouble to digest, and which spikes insulin and attracts parasites to the guts. I am a fruitarian, folks, and since I switched to this diet I have never felt better in my life, along with other fruitarians and raw vegans worldwide. I wish this white coat people could stop spreading misinformation and sending people to hell. I was a medical student myself and I quit it due to the utter nonsense and wrongdoing of the profession. Even if doctors have good intentions they are causing so much harm because they are filled with bs and they are used by pharma and the powers that be to control the population, keeping them sick and clients of the drug cartel. If you are really sick and willing to take responsibility for your body, understand the basics of nature, and how our bodies were designed to regenerate if we allow them to, then check drmorsend here on KZbin. Yet now we have access to fruit all year round even in winter. Traditionally people would be working outdoors after a long winter, harvesting , building, running, playing, running from predators! However we are now consuming lots of sugar whilst sat on sofas and at desks at work and its not what nature intended. Thats my theory.

Since you are a doctor I’m sure you have heard the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away “ Whole Foods are healthy for the human body. Who are all these fruits meant for then if not for us to eat? Ketogenic diet does not work for everyone. The only people who should be on a ketogenic diet is a person with absolutely no symptoms, however we live in a world of toxins and hidden sugars, gmos, msg. Everyone is dealing with some sort of issue because of our exposure. Telling your patients to eat a diet high in fat will definitely keep the medical industry in business. That is, we are dealing with a spectrum that starts from simple structures, up to very complex ones. Of all this range, however, the ideal source of carbohydrates for humans is MONOSaccharides.
