@@patricke8627 That's an example of genetic modification which is a valid method, but purely selective breeding by itself is enough to make a fruit overwhelmingly sweet (and hence make it sell more). They have done the same to chicken and turkeys, breeding only the large and muscular ones has produced the birds we have now. Keep in mind that's not evolution though, that's just selecting a previously existing feature and exaggerating it in the species. There is no new genetic information, nor any new feature.

Uhhh, Dr. Boz is right, people. Fruit has fructose which has to get processed directly by the liver. If you already have issues with your liver and eat fruit, you're asking for trouble. Also, if you rub a little bit of lime or any citrus fruit in your skin, then go out into the sun, you're gonna get severe burns.

I went Vegan about a year ago but i was still eating middle isle Vegan foods like crackers and breaded soy nuggets and i didnt lose weight. I finally started eating fruits, veggies, legumes, nuts and seeds and that's when the weight started coming off.I believe its the quality of foods that make such a difference!! I needed to lose the 10 lbs i gained and it didn't happen until i quit eating all middle isle foods and sugar also oils. I beieve fruits are from God & refined white sugar is from the 👿!! lol! ☺

I had lost 33lbs on keto and naturally most of my coworkers asked me how I did it. I simply told them that I cut out sugar. First reaction from most were that they didn’t drink soda or eat candy and so they couldn’t cut out sugar. However most of them were eating fruit all day long and having large fruit bowls after lunch. When I mentioned this they said but that was healthy sugar. So there was no way I could convince them there was no such thing as good sugar.

I think the biggest difference is you gotta digest that fruit in order to get the sugar from it.Thus it takes time and your body is probably using that sugar by the time whole process is finished. On the other hand eating or drinking something processed means you can transfer that sugar to your bloodstream waaaaaaaaay faster. It is not just about how much sugar you consume,it is also about how fast you consumed it. Think it like getting drunk. If you drink in one sit you are more likely to be drunk compared to drinking all day long but little by little.

he he, be careful saying "essential." There is no essential carbohydrate. But you make a good point. Originally it would have been a seasonal thing, if at all. Now, with fossil fuels and modern transportation, people can indulge year around, even in Northern climates. People can even do absurd practices like a fruitarian diet (which is the fastest way to tooth destruction known to humans). Another factor is the modern fruit has been selectively bred to grow larger, with more sugary flesh and few or no seeds. Then these fruits are marketed as healthy. Well, sorry, fruit is very much overrated and will certainly not negate the effects of an already nutrient-poor diet.

Fruit did not cause your heart attack it was the Standard American Diet(SAD) that caused the arteries in your heart to become occluded preventing proper blood flow. People all over the world and those living in "Blue zones" (high percentage over 100 yrs old) eat high fruit and complex carb diet. NO Blue zone area exist where the population consume high animal diet. Why? Although people in these areas eat small amount of meat(e.g. Okinawa, Japan) they eat mostly complex carbs(e.g. rice, fruit, beans). Also, Americans have created a highly stressful societal environment "rat race" in an effort to accumulate material things aka "keeping up with the jones". Stress causes inflammation throughout the body and the heart is no exception. The inflammation in heart arteries can cause spasms which narrows the heart arteries. Therefore, some particles(e.g. cholesterol, plaque) in the blood are not able to flow through the temporarily "smaller" artery and "stick" to the artery inner surface......until partial or complete occlusion(heart attack). Other cardiac problems are highly influenced by genetics factors for example scientist don't know why but 20% of the U.S population do not efficiently metabolize cholesterol. Therefore, the liver produce most of the cholesterol (800mg/day) the body needs, additional cholesterol intake(e.g. food) should done cautiously for people with a genetic disposition for hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol).

I actually did those experiments. I mesured blood glucose many times after high fruit meals ( example more than 2kg of oranges) and my blood glucose never went high. 110-120 max for a short period of time only... this lady does not mention that 1. the muscles can also store a lot of suger and 2. Fruit suger is not absorbed all at once... insulinsensitivity is key here. If your miscels and liver are ready to react to the insulin you are good to go.

Well most of the cells in our body can't actually process fructose so it's most completely metabolised in the liver essentially the liver converts fructose to energy this energy can't leave because of its molecular makeup and if there's any excess fructose after the energy conversion the liver stores it as glycogen which can be broken down into glucose and sent to other cells for use, the liver can only store so much glycogen once it's fully stocked the extra fructose is used to create triglycerides which can be moved outside of the liver for long-term storage as fat so based on this fruits which contain a lot of fructose must be bad? well actually no not at all fruits are loaded with water fiber and other nutrients so they take a while to digest therefore their fructose hits deliver. fructose is not unhealthy when it's consumed in moderation in the form of whole foods like fruits and vegetables.

Does this make any sense? (Especially with regard to fruit)
@rageonyx
@rageonyx 5 жыл бұрын
By definition "fiber" is the stuff you can't digest. It doesn't count because it's just like if you ate sand or swallowed a penny. It doesn't affect your blood and it just passes through until you poop it out. But for whatever reason, in North America when they do nutrition labels, they add the amount of fiber into the carbohydrate total. What fiber does do is it acts like a sponge, so that some of the nutrition from food (like a fruit) takes longer to get into you because it has to get squeezed out first. Also, more fiber means more farts and bigger poops.

I had alot of problems with binge eating etc, i've finally gotten my diet together more, i've also gotten in good shape again after a few depressing and messy years and fruit is honestly a part of it. It's a snack that is low on calories, theres also signs that point to how it can be good for your skin, some of them also have a decent amount of minerals and vitamins and most importantly it's really really tasty. I think it's funny how everyone on different diets always have to create propaganda on why their diet is the best and why everything else is bad.
@ursleepparalysisdemon1355
@ursleepparalysisdemon1355 4 жыл бұрын
There is no propaganda, some diets just work differently for others. And it’s not a secret that fruit isn’t the healthiest. The main problem is fructose. For example an average size banana usually consists about 15 grams of sugar, which is four teaspoons of granulated sugar. And that’s a lot if you’re on a diet, especially on a daily basis. And if the sugar is natural it doesn’t make it healthy. And no, fructose does not clear your skin, I can say from my personal experience with 5 years of bad acne You don’t have to be afraid of fruit however. Of course there are a lot of healthy sources in different fruits, like berries. But eat it as a treat only, and not on a daily basis. I also love fruit but yeah we all have to make sacrifices

Wow!! So wrong in so many ways. Raw Fructose does not raise insulin levels. (An Apple is about 50% fructose and 50% glucose.) And she made no distinction between raw plant-based sugars (fructose & glucose) compared to cooked/processed sugars. Geez, Now I wonder what else she has gotten wrong in her other videos. People, eat all the raw organic fresh fruit you want. You will be far healthier and you will lose all your excess weight. It is the natural diet for the human body. Its high water content and fiber slow the insulin production.

Jemmo - If you think there is no difference between the sugar found in a raw, fresh, ripe, organic apple compared to a Twinkie.. then you will never be truly healthy or free from some kind of disease or malady. This is one of the major reasons why confusion persists as to what it takes to be healthy, loose weight and keep it off. If I have two apples, one apple sitting on top of the kitchen counter and the other apple is placed in a 400° oven for 10 minutes, these two apples are now very different. The apple sitting on top of the counter is actually healthy still. The apple that has been exposed to an extreme temperature now contains “processed” sugars (cooked) and is unnatural, unhealthy, and unrecognizable to the human body. Heat (as well as light and oxygen) harm vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. This is one of the first things you learn when studying nutrition. But it’s almost never talked about in the media (tv news, newspapers, magazines,etc), and this is why disease and obesity still persist.

Allmost all fruits have a glow glycemic load, meaning they have little impact on blood sugar. That's because fruit, unlike processed foods, contain lots of water and fiber which slows down the absorption of sugar into the blood. The fact that she didn't even adress this, even tho it's the most important argument seemingly, already disqualifies this video as objective. Fruit is almost the only food in nature that we're attracted to, which should already be a huge red flag for anyone who wants to eat what our bodies were designed for.

@Vandana Uniyal, I'll offer an explanation. Genetics and the type of diet you were brought up on. I guess you're fasting blood sugar is 74 because that's pretty low by my standards. I'm of northern european descent exclusively. As a biohacker, of sorts, I've keto-adapted - there are ketones in my blood all the time. My fasting glucose tends to run higher than it did, often in the 90's (sometimes known as a "dawn effect" as the liver easily makes glucose). I also speculate this is simply because my body just doesn't use a lot of glucose. The brain and central nervous always require some, or prefer some, but the rest of the body is happy to run on fat. I also speculate that, because my fasting glucose typically isn't low, I rarely feel hunger, and certainly never ravenous hunger. I can easily go all day without food, while doing physical labor. I really enjoy this type of metabolic flexibility. BTW, my fasting insulin is less than 1.0 units.

Also initially for the first two examples (honey and bread) you say teaspons and so do your captions, but then after that you get your tablespoons and teaspoons mixed up lol! So you speak about tablespoons but your captions say tsp (teaspoons), which is confusing. I think you meant to say teaspoons all the time, not tablespoons. (Edit: Oh I see you mentioned your mistake in your writing box). Also I tend not to agree about your take on fruit. It's definitely an overreaction to call fruit evil! I think it's healthy in moderate quantities, just like everything we consume should be in moderate quantities, including protein, fats, carbs, sugars, sodium etc. Yes fruit contains it's sugars but is natural and wholefoods and comes with fibre to aid digestion as well as packed with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It's the evil processed food we have to watch out for way more than that apple or fruit salad.

I rarely eat fruit, and I had a sister in-law who kept trying to get me to eat it; because it was supposedly better for me than other sugars. Your sister is right. There are literally dozens of RCTs that proves this. And the fiber in fruit actually prevents most of the fructose to be absorbed through the cell walls in your intestine. Also, fructose is converted to glucose and then glycogen. Only once you exaust your liver and muscle stores, will it be converted to fat. So basically everything you said is wrong.

It was through my research that I learned that fructose is directly metabolized by the liver. And I was eating a lot of fruit. Since going on a keto diet, and not eating any fruit save for some berries in season, I healed my fatty liver.

The trouble today is people eat food everyday which used to be eaten only on special occasions such as party’s and celebrations. Now everyday is a party! People get sick eating crap but they don’t have the intelligence or motivation to care. Also people now consider that it is not their personal responsibility to care for their health, that’s the responsibility of their Doctors.

Like that rap from back in the day said, " Too much of anything makes you an addict . " No-sugar diets are just a trend that I definitely WON'T follow . I've been exercising and eating healthier ever since my neuropathy spread to my writing hand . However, I follow the same COMMON SENSE principles for weight loss that folks had back in the 50's, combined with a bit of 90's logic . Eat some of EACH of the basic food groups, but map out what you normally eat each day, research your strengths and weaknesses, ( as far as WHAT you tend to crave, WHEN you tend to crave it, and WHY). Then make a meal plan that centers around what YOUR cravings are at those times, and find healthier options of what you want . Believe me, it sounds more complicated in written form than it actually is, but it works for me . Why ? Because I'm not giving up anything . It's a whole lot easier to find a healthier way to make strawberry cheesecake, than to do without it entirely . Sure you COULD do without the sweets you love, but long term, what that means is a whole LIFETIME of BLAH . I would rather die eating what I like, than to live FOREVER eating ORGANIC SUBSTITUTES . Sounds like a cardboard diet to me .

What happened to a good healthy balanced way of eating. There are no secrets to eating, eating a lot of fruit and vegetables with sources of whole grain carbohydrates, some good fats and protein is only going to do you good. Also when you digest fat it is stored as fat. When you consume a lot of fructose sure fructolysis produce a lot of acetyl CoA which then can be converted to fat if not used in respiration and similar for glucose (although glycolysis is more controlled), yet why are carbohydrates deemed so bad for weight gain even though lipids are absorbed and stored straight into adipose tissue while ‘sugars’ go through various chemical reactions until it can no be readily used and then it can be converted to fat. Also fats are not a preferred fuel source for the body, in order for our bodies to respire (which allows us to function optimally) lipids have to be converted into glucose through gluconeogenesis which requires energy to do so. If ketosis is such an optimal state for humans to be in, based on how complex our bodies have evolved it would surely have been natural to be in that state if it is so advantageous to our health. No one is getting obese eating 3 balanced meals a day with a lot of fruit and vegetables. The obesity epidemic is not caused by people eating too much fruit😂

God also gave them animal skins to wear and specifically instructed how and what animals to eat. Nothing wrong with seasonal fruit, but there is something wrong with year round consumption that bypasses the seasons that God also created. Adam and Eve were also created with flawless DNA so that eating any kind of food they wanted wouldn't become the problem that is today. Flawless DNA would also mean that marrying a sibling wouldn't be a problem either. It's a big problem now that we have accumulated so many genetic mutations.

I totally agree that all fruit & vegetables and nuts & seeds are giving to us by God!! Its sugar that's evil not fruit!! Your body was made to eat fruit but not sugar!! I lost weight once i switched to fruits, veggies, and legumes and nuts sparingly! You can eat a healthy keto diet or an unhealthy keto diet and you can eat a healthy vegetarian diet or an unhealthy vegan diet. Its the quality of foods thats matter. If i were to eat a keto diet i would eat lots of vegetables, salmon, turkey breast and chicken breasts and never eat bacon, liver, eggs or pork or butter nor any dairy! On a Vegan diet i eat all whole fresh fruits & vegetables and legumes and nuts & seeds and never middle isle junk like vegan crackers, cookies , protein bars and soy nuggets!! I didnt lose weight until i cut out all middle isle foods! You have to figure out what works best for you! Its quality of food that matters! 🍄

Another factor here is the quality of fruit. Back in the days before intensive farming, fruit consisted of more quality and was less sweet, while more tart. Today's fruits are merely hybrids.

I'm trying to understand. Is a calorie deficit (or just the calories needed for weight maintenance) most important to preventing fat storage or is controlling insulin the key?? If I eat nothing but sugar but stay in a big caloric deficit. . . I'll lose weight. I'll feel like complete sh#$ of course but... if a steady high blood sugar and insulin causes fat storage, but calories are low , will I still store fat? I gave myself a headache trying to figure this out.

I'm very mindful that humans are not the only species who partake in fruit. Birds are essentially avian dinosaurs and have needed to become omnivores in order to survive, let alone thrive countless seasons. Fair point, we are assumed to live for 280 seasons on average, and not one single calendar year. So, on that basis, we might need to share that bunch of grapes to keep glucose level in check. But give up entirely, I'm still going to enjoy enjoy a kiwi fruit for example. Just with olive oil and a sprinkle of cocoa to reduce glycaemic index; plus promote absorption of key components. That said, I truly appreciate her passion for positive change.

Doctor . Why is sugar destructive while fruits save? Sugars are divided into categories. There are monosaccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. That is, we are dealing with a spectrum that starts from simple structures, up to very complex ones. Of all this range, however, the ideal source of carbohydrates for humans is MONOSaccharides. The ultimate source of monosaccharides is fruit! We are made to eat fruit sugars, as a primary and basic food

Thank you Dr. Boz. I realize this video is a few months old so I don't know if you'll see this but keep up the good work. We indeed are living in some strange days. If you where to do a video on meat being evil I doubt it would raise and eyebrow. It's always hard to go against the flow of what the common consensus among the masses seems to be. Many people find fault with the doctors because it was they who continually repeated to their patients the dietary Dogma that has been accepted since Ancel Keys. Now there are some in the medical community who are bucking that trend and they get it from both sides. They get it from the medical establishment which refuses to investigate the tremendous escalation I'm suffering that has been caused by their bad advice. They get it from the everyday person who had this message repeated to them over and over as they just continued to get sicker and sicker. Thank you for caring enough to try and rectify what has going on for the last 50 plus years. I myself I am now having to forgo all sugar or foods that turn into sugar in my body in order to try and maintain some semblance of a normal healthy life. This equates to a zero carb diet, as much as that as possible for me. This means for me sugar is evil. I have found by experience (as can anyone ) that I need no exogenous forms of sugar of any kind to be healthy. Too the contrary, any starch or sugar tends to wreak havoc in my system. This does not mean that I advocate or advise this to anyone else. Just to those who are sick or suffering due to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables, oh and a plethora of grains in their diets and became wrecked by this advice. Keep on keeping on Dr. Boz.

a healthy liver can deal with fructose with no issues. She's acting as if glucose and fructose follow the same metabolic pathways, when they do not. Fructose is metabolized solelyby the liver and small intestine, while glucose can be used by every cell in the body. If you're not ingesting excess amounts of glucose, your body will know when to convert sugary into glucose and when to convert it into glycogen, the stored version of glucose. Fruit also has fiber and fat soluble antioxidants that benefit the body's health. Glucose will go straight into the blood, fructose will not immediately enter the blood. I believe she is mistaken on this.
