I agree friend! But then there are games that changed me for the better. Like Persona 4 golden. In the end a game publisher sells entertainment (to escape day to day life and produce awe in the players) And this is the product that gamers want! To produce awe inspiring experiences In the players. Sometimes to escape, sometimes to socialize. I was a player, and that taught me how to be a game designer. That doesn’t take away from your point though.

I just think that everything you do in life is not a waste of time if you enjoy it. It may be a game with a dramatic yet inspiring story or just a couple of minutes spent with a friend playing a card game. Enjoyment is, imho, the sense of life. I don't have any regret on play videogames as long as i am having fun

My parents were never strict and didnt care what i did. That led to 10 hours a day playing as 10 yo kid. That continue until now and im 22. I own ps5, i buy every new big release im interested in. I own over 500+ games on playstation. I cherish gaming, but that resulted into no social skills learned as i spent all time home playing game. Ive had regrets about it past few months thinking about it daily. This video pushed me. Starting today im shelfing ps5 into the attic until god of war comes out. I think its Time to get back my life as i have no routine besides: work, play, smoke pot before sleep, repeat. Thanks for opening my eyes bro. Hoping for your growth. ❤

That’s great! Try and see how you do without it and you can always reintroduce it back into your life in smaller goes! But yeah try and do other things and grow as a person more in those ways! Good luck on your journey! And thank you!

I don't think I could just quit gaming. That would be cutting out a large portion of my enjoyment in life. I did try quitting it a while ago, and I was horribly depressed. I felt like I had no purpose in life. Maybe it is an addiction, but, well, I love it, and it's deeply meaningful to me. And I'm probably going to end up making money indirectly from it, as I'm working to become a game developer.

Yeah thats really cool that you can make money from something you love! And yeah the point of the video is more to talk about games and the effect they can have for some and how it effected me when I was playing and when I wasn't playing. I think the feeling no purpose probably isn't because of the games. Gamese will fill a gab for you but it might not address the full issue which is just a lack of purpose. I feel that often and will go through moments like it all the time. I had it a lot when I stopped gaming and I think thats because I know nothing but having that hobby in my life since I was a child so because of that it makes you have the connection with it.

How old are you? Maybe it's an addiction from doing it while growing up in an era when it was heavily marketed on youtube/online?

Man considering you are likely in your twenties... I wish I had your knowledge when I studied university as a "part -time" job while gaming full time :-) My parents should have done more. But I do not regret my time gaming well over 10k hours over my life. Same as you it helped me find good friends I would have never met otherwise. Also as a non native speaker the exposure to english is something I benefit from every day. And as I always played either story rich single players games or complex competetive MOBA games it could have never been a waste as I was constantly learning "something". So I've always had an easy time at school or later at work. That said I'm not glorifying gaming and I totally relate to your message that addiction is a massive issue. I believe your video might help to someone realize their problem. Thank you for that.

Gaming itself isn’t inherently harmful, but it can be. Gaming, in my opinion, is an activity that should be moderately practiced rather than taking up all your time. Enjoying a game doesn’t necessarily have to make you take time away from important aspects of your life, it’s an activity that should practiced in one’s free time, say 1-3 hours daily or bi-daily, so that you can get dopamine and happiness from it and not take away other important aspects of one’s life. TL;DR Gaming should be practiced moderately, 1-3 hours a day for example, as to not get addicted to it and to be able to enjoy it without feeling like you wasted too much time

Indeed, I can agree with that. I love games but always feel guilty for playing them if it’s not for this channel. It’s a weird cycle.

Singleplayer games/MMORPG are pure waste of time. Grinding inside the virtual world by sacrificing your real world character. that is why I'm never fun of any of it and always play competitive games with friends. I never think I need to login everyday. I just play when friends are available. Competitive gaming is just like playing sports when everyone is available. With Couch-co op. Multiplayer games(lethal company, among us, fall guys etc) that don't have grinding aspects is just another sports/Board games you play with friends. What can you do for friends that is working in another country??? not all have the money,time,dedication to always hangout and do activities like basketball,volleyball,hiking etc. Gaming is the most cost effective way to socialize. Unless you play it solo it will be harmful. (even if you play it for the story. We already have thousands of better movies for that.)

Very good video dude !! Lately I've been trying to stop playing online games, mostly MMORPG's (which require huge amounts of time to see progress) And I always felt guilty playing. I also work with creativity so the game ended up being an escapism during creative idleness and the feeling of lack of inspiration. I've aways knew that gaming was harmful to me but I always ignored it for the (false) pleasure of being conquering something in game or the feeling of being someone in those virtual worlds. I grew up with games, since my childhood I consider myself a true gamer and I feel that they are part of me, but I agree that we need balance and know when to stop and look at other areas of life. If you let yourself be carried away by the toxic logic of games (and gaming industries), it can consume you and make you forget who you are, your pleasures and goals beyond playing. I haven't been able to stop completely, but I'm still trying and I hope I'll be able to stop completely soon! I think the first step is always to recognize your addiction/excess in something, so that later you can take some action and change. Anyway, your videos are really good !!! I hope the channel continues to grow and you can deal with your personal gaming issues too !

Thats all good! I can understand why the essay format can be dull due to the length so I try to bring my expirence into it as it's easier for people to understand when they can either relate or know where I'm coming from!

Great watch! And great hearing your experience. And good points about everything needing balance in life. From my experience I think growing up I was able to avoid the multiplayer hype & environment coz all I played was single player story games during that playstation 1 to playstation 2 era I think I only started dabbling in multiplayer when the PS3 era had come along. Fully agreed tho that it's not something that's productive but I don't think any hobby necessarily has to be. Unless you're a content creator that is so definitely creators look at it from a different lense. Especially with multiplayer games that end up leaning into that toxicity with people getting mad at each other and teammates in lobbies 😂 But yeah all in all everything just needs to be moderated and likewise I've seen myself slow down on it as I turned 30 but it's still my go to guilty pleasure in my free time but definitely not as much as during like my university days.
@Exiled72 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I get what you mean entirely. Glad you're enjoying the content. I find that gaming is a great expirence for amazing stories but the mulitpler ones can become a bit to toxic for me like you mentioned!

I don't agree with you on statemanet that games are diffrent kind od addiction. If so, then you could say so about every form of entertaintment. You do what you find funny. I'm 31, last year my son was Born. I work full timer job, i have a lot od responsibilities at home, i exercise, watch series with my wife and Play games. It's all about how you organize your time and what you find fun at certain point on time.
