From a patient with Crohn's disease for the last 22 years, I thank you. There aren't many caring GI specialists out there, but when we find them we love them for a life time.

I got diagnosed with Crohn’s 15 years ago and I’m still with the GI who diagnosed me. My symptoms were super severe (I lost 30 pounds in a month) but got largely ignored by my primary. Long story short, my GI saved my life when he figured out pretty quickly what was going on. I refuse to give him up. Hope you’re doing well and your Crohn’s is under control 😄.

Would love to see a video discussing bias towards bariatric patients and how we can help create a more welcoming environment so they don’t delay care out of feeling ashamed to seek help. Also a video talking about recent advancements in GI as well as what it means to have a “healthy gut.” Maybe dispelling some myths about gut health and discussing relevant evidence.

Do attending that completed a Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship perform procedures? 3. Is there anything I do now (before IM residency) to become a competitive fellow applicant?

Hello, my name is Alizae and I have been diagnosed with Alchelasia. I currently have a feeding tube in my stomach and have been going through the process for over a year now. I haven't been able to get the "P.O.E.M" procedure to help me become able to eat foods and drink liquids once again. However I haven't been able to get fixed because my Medicaid was discontinued because I turned 19 years old in January and I have been struggling to get health insurance ever since. If you could help me or give me any advise, that would be great.

Thank you for nice video Dr.! I am also considering GI as my future career but I am wondering about new emerging technologies which can deminish GI number of procedures like, nonendoscopic sponge capsula for Barret Esophagus diagnosis or Virtual Colonoscopy by CT. Do you thing those technologies can take "piece of cake" from GI?
@geff801
@geff801 5 жыл бұрын
R B those are adjunct diagnostic modalities (and never first line); they do not provide interventional capabilities therefore, the “cake” will remain with GI.

Can anyone tell me if this is a red flag of a bad gastroenterologist. I had my first colonoscopy because I was dealing with bloody Incontinence. Being a massage therapist this is something that I can’t be dealing with while I’m working. So I begged the doctor if he could at least prescribe something to help me since my lab results show I have IBD. He told me that I need a colonoscopy and he promised to give me steroid afterwards. So he performed the colonoscopy. Afterwards however when he saw the results and said it looks like I have some form of diverticulitis he tells me that I’m allergic to sulfa and he doesn’t know what to prescribe me . The only thing he could think of was a $900 foam by Uceris . Well turns out that Walgreens doesn’t carry that . But they do have generic low cost pill versions. So I left messages with his staff days ago with no reply. I even had suggestions of other steroids that I’m not allergic to . So my main concern is this normal for a doctor to not know what to prescribe for treatment or should I find someone who knows more and isn’t gonna blow me off . I understand I’m not the only patient but I have never knew a doctor that has said they don’t know what to do.
