Why Ginkaku & Kinkaku Ruined The War Arc in Naruto

Ginkaku and Kinkaku were two ninjas from the Cloud Village that were brought back during the Naruto War Arc. We saw the Ginkaku and Kinkaku vs Darui fight, as well as the Kinkaku vs Shikamaru fight. And they sucked. But that's not why they ruined the Naruto War Arc. These characters had the chakra of the Nine Tails inside of them. Obito was able to create an incomplete 10 Tails using their chakra, which defeats the entire purpose of the War.
Obito went to war because he needed to capture Naruto, but if he could use Kinkaku and Ginkaku from the beginning there was no reason to fight a war against the entire Shinobi world.

For the War Arc, I watched it in the anime first and read the manga part later. When Ginkaku and Kinkaku appeared, I was 100% convinced they were filler characters. When it comes to the anime you can often tell with once glance when a character is filler, and those two somehow fit the bill perfectly.

The War arc didn't even need Ginkaku and Kinkaku to ruin it, it was plenty terrible all on its own, and G & K are a perfect little microcosm of why: random characters that we meet for the first time ever (without ever having heard of them prior) suddenly being presented as extremely important and vital to the core of the plot. The War arc is literally just an unending series of Deus Ex Machinas with no setup and largely no payoff either.

Jaraiya, the third hokage, and kakashi are all off limits for Obito for obvious reasons. He thought the 4th would at least be manageable and was WRONG. The fact that the Juubi can be summoned by simply having portions of the Tailed Beasts' chackra makes the Akatsuki's goal much harder than it should have been. Both Kisame and Nagato can absorb chackra thanks to Samehada and the Rinnegan specifically. So all they had to do was fight the Jinchurikis, use those abilities to absorb portions of their chackra, and transfer it to the Gedo Mazou. They could have even used the Zetsus as body doubles to fool their foes so that they could escape. And since both Kisame and Nagato knew of the Eye of the Moon Plan, they would gladly do this.

Wouldn't work. Even with most of the full tailed beasts and some Chakra from the last 2, the Juubi still barely had enough Chakra to take form. It'd be much worse if it were significantly less like you suggest.

Edos restore chakra fast but not that fast and they have a cap on their maximum capacity. If he had no chakra for FR then how did he fought against 20 elite shinobies + golden brothers? In the anime, there's filler arc about a character named Sora. He has nine tails chakra inside him. He would have been a good solution for that issue but the manga couldn't use him since he's filler

Naruto and Bee were still quite far to do anything and Madara hadn't been summoned yet. Obito could just have become Jinchuuriki and then capture Gyuki and Kurama if he wanted the full Juubi that much, say to speed up the blossoming of the Shinju. With the extra time he would have most likely won. The only way to explain it away is to use Tolkien's excuse for Sauron's apparent lack of foresight. Obito never considered Naruto a real threat, he even states that in their fight when he refuses to believe he is sweating against him, Bee, Kakashi and Gai. So Obito was 100% sure he could safely go the extra mile to capture the remaining Bijuus and speed up the set up for the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Now what isn't a plot hole and can help explain this not from a tactical standpoint but from a psychological one is that Obito saw his old self in Naruto as he saw a part of his current beliefs validated by Sasuke's personal tragedy. He wanted to pit Sasuke against Naruto, and then he wanted to personally beat Naruto and prove him wrong as an attempt to silence the hesitation he still had. By defeating Naruto he would be defeating the old Obito and his naïve goals and worldview. I guess his hubris was his downfall.

The worst thing about the fight was how they lost. It was the most bs plot armor thing, In the middle of being sealed Darui just changed the word he used the most somehow spitting him out? Then having him instantly get sealed by his own weapon, then they just get the other sealed before we see what they can do by another haxed bs sage of six paths weapon. Then they just never use those broken weapons again wouldn't that have been helpful against others in the war if it can even seal a full 8 tails no problem?

The inclusion of Ginkaku and Kinkaku was the first time a decision in the story made me fully lose investment in the plot. It's so mind-numbingly stupid that it makes not only the Fourth Great Ninja War a moot point, but arguably the entirety of the Akatsuki. Think about it; if you can summon the Ten Tails using only a fraction of chakra from each tailed beast, why put all this effort into capturing Jinchuriki at all? You only need to fight them enough to take a limb. Hell, you can follow suit of the G&S brothers and just eat a small piece of them apparently. I'm willing to accept that maybe you can summon a lesser Ten Tails with seven whole tailed beasts and fractions of the last two, but even that doesn't excuse eating bits of the Nine Tails to get the cloak. The worst part is, assuming everything remains the same in the plot, you can accomplish the same end goal without including these two lore-shattering characters. Without their existence, the only way Obito knows of to summon the Ten Tails is to take Kurama from Naruto. What he and the heroes wouldn't account for is that the Reaper Death Seal could be undone and the other half of the Nine Tails inside of Minato could become the sacrifice. Minato literally comes to the battlefield already. Either have Minato get absorbed entirely, or devise a way that the Nine Tails chakra in him gets taken without killing him (maybe he loses an arm, worked for the Eight Tails). That way Naruto and his part of Kurama don't have to die/lose any limbs, and you still get the cool Kaiju battle in full effect. Kinkaku and Ginkaku are definitely the most pointless addition to the original Naruto series, and are one of the worst writing decisions up there with the Black Zetsu-Kaguya twist and the decision to skip past Hinata and Naruto's entire romance.

The point was to avoid the annoyance of the whole Shinobi world comming for him. Six Paths Madara casted the Infinite Tsukyomi ina few minutes, If Obito summoned the imperfect 10 tails since the start the whole world would know about It (sensory-types all across the world would feel It), and they would come for the incomplete Juubi the same way they did in the original timeline. It took three transfromations between the Gedo Mazo and the Sacred Tree, and even than the Tree needed to extract energy from outside sources before the flower could cast It. It would have been impossible to do It without It ending the same way.

Yes, but at the same time Obito only gained interest in Naruto after he defeated Nagato, and this interest in Naruto was due to the fact that Obito respected Nagato, not only that, but Konan was also a mirror of Obito (both had the love of their life killed by their best friend in an act of sacrifice and they devoted their lives to creating a world of illusion), so much so that in the fight against her he says that she was the last person he expected to betray him, or to change his mind and disagree with Infinite Tsukuyomi. After that he began to see how Naruto looked like his old self. Why am I commenting this? Because Obito could have used Kamui and captured all the Bijuus decades ago, the guy spent 20 years doing nothing.

P.S. it is clearly stated that a single touch by Obito is enough to "end" Naruto, that's what the whole fight was about... Didn’t they manage to remove the 9 tails from Naruto at some point? Minato had half of the 9 tails, he could’ve given it to Naruto if Obito had taken Naruto’s half in order to awaken the 10 tails. Also having Kinkaku & Ginkaku swallowed by the 8 tails is better cuz its the tailed beast of their home nation which they betrayed. It would also mean that, alongside the tentacle that Sasuke captured, they would’ve completed like 3/8ths of the 8 tails chakra (assuming each make up for 1 tail’s worth of chakra of the 8 tails). Then Naruto’s half of the 9 tails & 3/8ths of the 8 tails would be significant enough (certainly more than what he had in canon) to summon an 80% power 10 tails. Naruto would have half the 9 tails plus 1 tail’s worth of chakra from the other 7 tailed beasts and Bee would have 5/8ths of the 8 tails to combat the 10 tails and would eventually give all but 1 tail’s worth of chakra to Naruto so he and Sasuke can fight Juubidara.

@@s.owl9 It makes sense in Madara's case cause the Ten Tails would have been near 90% at least to summon the Tsukoyomi effectively while I doubt Obito could of done it at 80% power, Jinchuriki's are also very plentiful in chakra reserves due to hosting the beast while guys like Kinkukku and Ginkuku just ate up the chakra and this is clear by the fact the ten tails is still incomplete after their chakra is used, their power would seem insignificant compared to someone with the entire beast inside of them which is why Akatsuki even bothered capturing them in the first place.

I really enjoyed the G&S Brothers being added into the story because it adds more lore and history behind the Cloud village. The 3rd Raikage who was also reanimated was very interesting because he sacrificed himself to save his comrades fighting for many days and nights and he fought the 8-Tails and stalemating. It was great seeing new characters being added to the story.

Idk about that they kind of screwed around ,1 even letting his arm get cut off to kick the rope into darui. They were in edo they knew what it was because of tobirama so they know they can't die. Besides a lot of their power seems to come from v2 cloaks off the ninetails even a 4 tails cloak from half the ninetails chakra was strong enough that orochimaru couldn't damage through it. kin and gin got 6 tails cloaks from the full ninetails. Ginkaku and Kinkaku from Naruto Shippuden are actually pretty interesting characters. They may have been antagonists, but they had their own unique personalities and backstories. Their determination and loyalty to their village, the Hidden Cloud, showed that they were dedicated to protecting their home. Plus, their abilities and teamwork were pretty impressive. Overall, they added depth and excitement to the story imo.

Ok… we have no gold and silver brothers but here’s what we do 1) obito gets nine tails chakra out of Naruto effectively killing him 2) Naruto is revived by Sakura and Tsunade or maybe jus Sakura as this feat will boost her character 3) Naruto relies on sage mode early in the war 4) sasuke revives hokage 5) minato gives his half of the ninetails to Naruto…. And this half has a psychic link to the other half so they don’t have to re-bond again… 6) minato doesn’t magically have a KCM form despite never being alive while he was a jinchuriki but he uses flying raijin and sage mode in his fights…. This changes literally nothing for the plot for minato…. 7) when Naruto and sasuke beat Jubito Naruto reclaims his other half of the ninetails so he has 100% of ninetails now.. aswell as getting chakra from other tail beasts…. 8) with this massive power boost Naruto and sasuke kill madara before zetsu does so we get an epic final battle with madara…

Why would Kabuto give Obito Kinkaku and Ginkaku? He wouldn't. Kabuto only gave him jinchuriki bodies... not the tailed beast chakra itself. Kabuto is smart, he would realize right away why Obito is asking him for those bodies and refuse. Why would he take out Kinkaku and Ginkaku before they arrive at the warfront when for one, Kabuto would see that happen and prob know it was him. Two, he can let them weaken the allied shinobi army first. Obito also needed to remove the heart tag so he could become Jinchuriki, so he needed the war for that. Obito also has a lot of depth as a character... it makes sense that he wouldn't do everything 100% efficiently at times. These are not robots, he has a personality. Especially given the subconscious doubts we see that he has about his path. I like your altered version better cause it is more streamlined, but war arc was not ruined by this... that's a bit dramatic lol.

An even better way would be to have Minato arrive early and get minato's nine tails sealed away, but since Minato is an Edo tensie he would not have died and Naruto would still be alive and there would be a reason since obito could not have asked kabuto to bring back Minato

No, Kinkaku and Ginkaku's V2 states are not "obviously" weaker than a real Jinchuuriki's V2 state. There is no such thing as fake bijuu chakra 😭 it's the same form. And Tobirama is fodder based on what? Getting ambushed by them or having to fight the Kinkaku Unit while out of chakra?

I have a better solution: -obito actually Win against naruto and Kill naruto. Sakura either sacrifice herself to revive him with granny chiyo's healing jutsu or she goes to where tsunade and the other kages are fighting Madara in hope that she'll be able to do something and she ends up sacrificing herself to revive him. While it wouldn't really make sense for tsunade to know the jutsu it would make more sense to have her die instead of sakura since: -she does nothing important after the war -it would make more sense as to why she isn't the hokage anymore in boruto -she could have a Nice moment with her grandpa before making her décision wich would give another reason for hashirama to hate and fight madara -it would make the war feel important. Because only having one important character die during a WORLD WAR and him dying to a freacking stick is pathetic -naruto being dead for a good while makes us care even more -i would also make it so that bee's clone wasn't enough. Like you need the entire thing. And so i would either have him die a bit before naruto which would cause him to act reckless due to Anger and get killed or having bee die after naruto wanting to get revenge -with this change it make sense for the war to happen, as the only way to revive the 10 tail would be to get the full thing -gintaku and the other one aren't swallowed by kurama. Or anyone for that matter. Or if they do it doesn't give them the chakra or anything

The positive result of the war had a point to it. That if everyone just worked together vs cycle of hatred and war, etc... they could achieve so much without any loss. It was very thematic. And to say only 1 character loss is disingenuous. Lots of name Shinobi died, let alone the non-named ones. Tsunade didn't like the job to begin with, so its in character for her to pass it up. Remember, she was only filling in, in the first place.

@@lord_dhaos8300 it's a war it should be impactfull. It's not candykiss land where nobody dies because friendship. And there's many secondary character that didn't serve any purpose. Guy should've died too. Him escaping the drawback of a technique that was foreshadowed since the shunin exam is BS. The war Felt like a drag to sit through because there wasn't any stakes. When the only characters dying are random unamed fodder and as soon as à character was slightly relevent they were blessed with a plot armor

I mean, most deaths in war are the "unnamed fodder". But I 100% agree with Might Guy not dying is BS, i said the same thing when i head that panel when Naruto became Jesus for a second. Realism aside, every death save made sense cuz it was all cooperation. There were no "this attack can destroy a continent, has a direct hit" and people just survive by no cause. It was always someone used a jutsu to give armor, or heal, or give chakra, or some combination ninjutsu. @@aqualacerta3961
