All the fanatics of the TLM should read this and not consider themselves innocent to the pressures this kind of burden places on a marriage. How many children do you cause to suffer though a 7+ hour trip, Jason? And all for what? For what your senses take in, what your eyes and ears hear? The chanting or the forms? Is not the sacrifice which the ordinary form administers not the very same blood and body of the Lord Jesus?! Why would you travel so far for your senses, rather than what you know is already close to you and spare your family this needless sacrifice.
@JasonSpano4 жыл бұрын
@@Zematus737 My wife is all for it. She has been enjoying going. I don't cause any children to suffer. I take 4 boys ages 8 months to 10 years. We don't do it just for eyes and ears, but that is a big plus. No chanting as we have only gone to Low Mass. The sacrifice in the Novus Ordo is just as valid and efficacious. Every parish I've been in though (sad to say) lacks any real reverence. When I tell my son "That is Jesus" but Jesus is being handed out by lay people, handled like a cracker and dropped on the floor, it is hard to make a convincing argument. When people pass by the tabernacle and bow their head, or do a 1/2 bow, again, it is hard to tell my son "No, really ... that IS Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior". At the TLM, you can't forget Who is up there. But a big reason we travel so far is my non-verbal autistic son has been typing out on his 'talker' "Yes, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church". This is one of the few Mass settings he doesn't scream, hit, pinch, bite, etc. at. Sacrifice is good. Jesus said we should take up our crosses daily. But, I don't consider this as much of a sacrifice as I do as an inconvenience. It would be nice to be closer to a Mass that is so reverent, but so far no one has complained much.

I’m 75 years old and grew up with the Mass in Latin but then spent the next few decades with access to only the new Mass. Then I moved to a diocese that has an FSSP Chapel. When I was deciding whether or not to attend Mass there I was aware that since I was old I would be accused of attending just because of nostalgia and I considered that that might be so. It was when I found out that they were teaching the traditional teachings of the church that I had grown up with that I made up my mind that they were teaching the truth.

SINCE THE MASS IS NOT NECESSARILY FOR OR ABOUT THE PEOPLE, IT IS ABOUT GOD, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE FOR THE PRIEST TO HAVE TO FACE THE PEOPLE AT ALL. IT"S ACTUALLY IRRELEVANT TO FACE THE PEOPLE SINCE IT IS ABOUT THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS & THE BREAD & WINE BECOMING JESUS. THE PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE THERE TO SHOW THE LOVE & ADORATION TO OUR GOD & JESUS THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB WHO SUFFERED & DIED FOR OUR SINS SO WE CAN HAVE SALVATION. ALSO, IF WE TRULY BELIEVE IN TRUE PRESENCE WHY WOULD WE EVER THINK THAT UNCONSECRATED HANDS COULD EVER BE WORTHY TO TOUCH THE BODY & BLOOD OF OUR LORD. Also never learned about the Church often designed in the shape of the cross either. So this spiritual insight and tradition was lost for me. Is it very important? Will I loose out on my closeness to Jesus if the Priest is facing West? I think not. Sorry I missed out. What is so very important to me is seeing every part of this theologically rich, scripturally based ceremony where I hear the prayers in my language and can actively pray with the priest. .. I also like that there are the Priests who pray the Mass in Latin because so many of the faithful are moved by it. Then it needs to stay. I’m distressed that the Pope wants to stop it. Has the tridentine mass been celebrated in English. That is with the priest facing the east, communion on the tounge while keeping, Lord have mercy in Greek, the and some other parts while predominantly in "the vernacular of the people" the structure and reverence of the mass should have never changed. However Eastern catholics were able to translate their Divine Liturgy while still having everything else in the same structure it has always been.

I'm glad to hear that the traditional observers are no longer presuming superiority over the ordinary form. While it gives me no pleasure to see you take a defensive stance in an attempt to preserve the traditional forms, I must make a complaint in the flaws of your defense of it. For you have taken a position that insinuates that the new rite is a departure of traditional forms. I will start by aiding your argument concerning veils for women. It is not just a traditional practice, it is found in the epistles themselves. Covering a woman's hair, or covering her glory, is a good practice to observe. It leads women into piety. It is not a covering of the head, it is a covering of the hair. We should understand the difference so that women do not cover their heads, but leave their hair flowing visibly. Now as for the greatest flaw of your argument on having the right to observe a traditional form because it has preexisted other forms and was not explicitly condemned or rejected. The only example you need is the adaptations to the creed. The liturgy of the mass is no different in this respect. Throughout the generations we have seen adaptations, clarifications, additions, extractions. Even though you may be allowed to say the old Nicene creed, it is BETTER for you to observe the current form for every reason that they exist. Mainly to confront the rising teachings of heresy and our pursuit of perfection to remove needless words, gestures, or rites that are not understood well, such as facing east. The facing to the east is a practice which can find its origin in the dedication of the first temple by Solomon (1Kings 8:22). Verse 29 and 30 specifically. This is why the Hebrews in exile/captivity in the west held to the this practice of praying to the east. The Mohammedans observe this for the same reason. There are verses in which you will attempt to excuse this same practice by saying the King will come in by the eastern gate, but I recognize the verses very well and I know that you are referring to the 2nd coming and none of these verses pertain to the return of Christ in the day that he comes to pay everyone back for their deeds. For you know very well the scriptures say that his return through the clouds will be visible like lightning from the east AND the west. None of you will overcome me in this, for I will tell you now that praying to the east or facing any other direction is a form more fitting to old covenant practices than it is of our new covenant. It does not belong in any Christian rite, for the true worshipers of God do not face towards any PLACE, as our Lord makes plain to the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:21-24). So, if we are the true worshipers of Christ, as we claim to be, how is it that we still hold to prayers that take places into account when we worship and receive the true boundless God? How senseless it is to elevate the host towards the altar, as if the throne could ever be as significant as the God that is in your very hands. How useless it is to pretend you are elevating Christ to the Father, when the one seated on the throne is, and has always been, the true Son who hides himself as does the Father, but reveals his thoughts to man. Revelation 16:7 "And I heard the altar respond: "Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgements." It is needless for you to present the sacrifice to the Father, as if you were to presume that such a killing of his son does at all please him, for not even to this day has the house of Jacob been forgiven this bloodshed of the innocent and holy Christ: Joel 3:21 "I will hold innocent their blood that I have not held innocent." Christ is raised above the heads of the people, just as Moses raised the snake in the desert (John 3:14); therefore it is better and right for you to elevate the Host towards the people, facing the people, so that they may gaze on that which can free them from their sin; by confessing they have been bitten they will be raised to life. You cannot win this argument. It is time to face the people.

You kinda missed the basics, but oh well.
@Zematus7373 жыл бұрын
@@Christian-lm6qh Indulge me, please. Or would you say I'm wrong without explaining yourself? Why even open your mouth? What are the basics? Mass means meal but traditionalists think the Mass is part of confession and speak only concerning sacrifice and the cross. Yet it was not the crucifixion that Christ instituted as a memorial, but the Eucharist, for which the cross was intended FOR and not the other way around. Mass means meal, and there is the table, but the Trads face east and raise the holy Lord towards the altar? What is more important, the throne or the one who sits on it? Trads are like the Pharisees in the temple. 'Lord! I thank thee for what I am and that you did not make me like this Novus Ordo Catholic. I pray my rosary every day, come to mass and receive on the tongue kneeling and give a little bit here and a little bit there, rule on rule.'

As a convert to Catholicism, I'm not sure if I would have felt comfortable going to TLM. I do however think Pope Francis should have made where you have to ask permission from rome to do the TLM.

Ok, I am going to give an argument. I don't think that the Latin Mass can get you any closer to God then an English one. The whole thing is all about Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Everything leads to us getting ready and receiving the Eucharist. You can do a Latin Mass but it's only as necessary as the availability of the holy Eucharist and thats it.

Look up the English translation of the Latin Mass prayers, and you'll see how much richer and deeper they are. First of all it is not a dialogue or exchange between the priest and the congregants. Rather it is a continual prayer addressed to God Almighty -- adoration, praise, contrition, thanksgiving. Above all it clearly indicates everyone's presence and participation in Jesus sacrifice at Calvary offered for our redemption. And this is all done in union of worship in continuity with our ancestors (e.g. Abel. Abraham and Melchisedech) as well as St Michael and the Holy Angels, the Virgin Mary, St Joseph. St John the Baptist, St Pete, St Paul and all the Saints. In the Tridentine Mass, we acknowledge God's salvific work uniting Heaven and earth. Granted the Consecration is the same and valid in both forms of the Mass, but they are far from the same. I invite you respectfully to attend a Latin Mass and follow the English Missal, and there's no doubt that your soul will be deeply touched and grateful. God bless

The Latin Easter vigil has the priest singing ....flaming Lucifer....christ is your son. And all the people sing....amen. Because they don't know Latin and it sounds so beautiful.

I think you got the translation wrong. I think the line youre referring to is: From: Exsultet Flammas eius _lúcifer_ matutínus invéniat ille, inquam, _lúcifer_ , qui nescit occásum. Christus Fílius tuus, qui, regréssus ab ínferis, humáno géneri serénus illúxit, et vivit et regnat in sæcula sæculórum. - Wikipedia (Exsultet) *English* From Middle English Lucifer, from LatinLūcifer, from lūx (“light”) + ferō (“bear, carry”). Attested in Old English as Lūcifer. Replaced native calque lēohtberend (“lightbearer”) also from the same Latin source. - Wikipedia, Wiktionary (lucifer) *Latin* From lūx + -fer, calque of Ancient GreekΦωσφόρος (Phōsphóros). The word "lucifer" does not always mean the evil one. It can also refer as "Morning star". - Wikipedia, Wiktionary (lucifer) The exultet lyrics that i just quoted means: May this flame be found still burning by the _Morning Star_ : the one _Morning Star_ who never sets, Christ your Son, who, coming back from death's domain, has shed his peaceful light on humanity, and lives and reigns for ever and ever. - Wikipedia (Exsultet) That's it, Have a great day/night.

@@snowcrystals6986 What ever it is through the TLM there were many saints converyed, but in NO it's chaos n protestanism completely, the priest while in celebration of the eucharist keep his Back that's not Reverant to Christ the King, other thing is that if protestanism then we are against the Church of Jesus n His Apostles tradition of Faith for all these centuries. Keep the Light of God Burning.

Traditiones custodes. You, the Extraordinary Formians did this to yourselves. This is not about the Extraordinary Form as such but about the fact that it has long been weaponised - against the Church herself - against her Sacraments, the Second Ecumenical Vatican Council, her Magisterium and her Roman Pontiffs. You know this is true. If you are Catholic, looking beyond your disappointment, you will see that this abuse could not be allowed to continue. For the good of those attached to the Extraordinary Form, for the unity of the family that is the Church, Pope Francis as a father has intervened. You should have been part of the solution and embraced the fatherly generosity of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, in unity with the Church but instead you abused their trust, continously. So you cannot feign surprise now. You brought this on yourselves.
