Maybe it's because it's a very good movie and one of the best movies out of that year and we were just coming out of a summer of box office bombs and we desperately needed some quality

I would agree but last year was the biggest movie business in a long time. There were a lot great films like Spiderverse, Oppenheimer, Barbie, Mario Bros, TMNT, and more.

I think another reason what made this film so special and why it was so famous was that it was made outside of the US. Foreign movie companies can't compete with Hollywood's robust industrial system but having one film that can stand in the spotlight can bring upon new possibilities. It exposes culture, strategy, and influence that people wouldn't have thought about and I hope Minus One helped to at least trigger a new wave of foreign films that can rival the Western movie industry.

1998 ,because the design of the zilla character was so not Godzilla. The zilla monster ran around town, ducking and hiding behind buildings or climbing them.Had no atomic ray. Had baby zillas.Got stuck on a bridge and was killed . Minus one embody what and who Godzilla represents. Like an unstoppable force of nature. He doesn't run from nobody. You mess with him. You get stomped or blown away. He doesn't climb buildings. He knocks em down. I am not too crazy about the look of Godzilla evolved either. The pink dorsal plates and slender body are the wrong direction for me. But still 98 is the least liked in my book.

@@wildone008 you got to remember the director for the 1998 Godzilla film didn't even care to make a Godzilla movie so I guess that's why the 1998 wasn't as good as other films and in my personal opinion Godzilla 1998 as a Kaiju I think he's pretty cool as a Godzilla not so much

Society was tired of woke agenda films and superhero fatigue. Minus One comes out and was a *huge* breath of fresh air. Similar to when Deadpool came out. We were _tired_ of seeing superheroes as goody two shoes. Deadpool practically flipped the tables.

Hummmm. Overrated??.naww. This movie didn't get much publicity here in the US. Even at the Oscar's, it only won for visual effects. Its success was due to word of mouth. And it still didn't make the money at the box office that Godzilla x Kong did. Godzilla x kong got the wide release publicity, TV spots and other advertising that minus one didn't get here in the US and other countries. But people who saw minus one began to talk about what a better film it was than what Hollywood was pushing.

@@wildone008 true but so many people keep calling it the best godzilla movie when vs Destoroyah exists and keep comparing it to the monsterverse and saying that it’s better for being true to Godzilla’s character and saying it and 54 are the only good films in the series when it’s not true that’s why it’s so overrated people talk about so much they forget about the other great movies
