Let’s not forget how much of a selfish backstabber The Rock is. He got his big break in Hollywood when Brendan Fraser convinced the filmmakers to cast ‘the part time wrestler’ as the Scorpion King in *The Mummy 2* to which he then got a spin-off that stalled the development of *Mummy 3* Brendan Fraser was removed from *Journey 2* because he spoke out against a producer’s despicable treatment of him (as well as his evil ex-wife divorcing him, believe that’s a can of worms). And who did the producer get to replace him? The Rock (which he would continue to hijack and assimilate franchises like F&F and the DCEU) And after Brendan Fraser got his comeback in 2022 with *The Whale* the Rock decided to post ‘how great his “brother” Brendan is, and how much he owes to him for his career’. If that’s the case, given his influence at the time, why did the Rock not help his “brother” and bring him back on *Journey 2* when he was blacklisted (while getting financially screwed by his ex-wife)? Edit: Couldn’t go into too much detail because of KZbin’s comment censoring and the comment is already long enough

The Rock is trash. When he tried to make his own universe around Black Adam, he (we) learned that he didn't have the clout in Hollywood to do it. I know you think he uses specific people to make films with...and you're correct but I feel it has more to do with these people being the only ones who will work with The Rock. Evans was in this for just the paycheck...arguable, most of the actors were. I think only the red headed guy who actually acts was in it for the role. It's a shame that films like this are put out into the word. They do nothing to promote (or progress) the craft of movie making, acting, or entertaining.

I suggest you research "Hitler and the Great German Art Show". Hitler held an art show with two adjacent galleries in the late 1930s. On one side was art from the artists he hated, featuring modern art which he called debased/degenerate art. On the other side was the traditional art, the Great German Art. The goal of this art show was to persuade the German population that the modern artists had ruined art and that the Nazis would redeem art. Compare that to today's "modern art" in TV shows, movies and videogames. And while doing so, understand that Hollywood has been promoting Marxist ideologies (which some call "woke", "Politically Correct" or "THE MESSAGE") as they continue to make overbudgeted products with low quality, ham-fisted ideologies and belittle at least half of their audience. Do you think modern Liberal Hollywood has debased/degenerated art? Or do you think they have made it better? Isn't it strange how "progressives" seem to be regressive when it comes to entertainment? Now let's go back further to the Roman Empire and what the Roman poet Juvenal called "Bread and Circus", a means for certain politicians to gain political power by appealing to the base desires of a population (food and entertainment). Do we see a certain "side" of the political establishment in the US doing anything similar? Like giving out food stamps to win support from certain demographics of people? Or specifically catering to a small, vocal minority of people on social media while foregoing well written scripts, CGI, directing, acting and overall quality in general? Do you know what brought an end to the Bread and Circuses? The appointment of an autocratic Emperor who removed all political threats. Sounds familiar, right? Did you know that #45/47 is a descendent of Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne via the bloodline of King John of England? (As were all of the US's "elected" Presidents. Only Ford, Nixon's V.P. who took over after the former resigned, was not a descendent of those men.) I now suggest you look up the following: Seven Mountains Mandate/Dominion Theology (Dominion, like the US "voting" machines.) US Public Law 102 dash 14 Seven Laws of Noah There are some "Yuge" changes coming in the very near future which many will think are for the better but will ultimately end very badly for the US in the end.

My theory is that people like the Rock function like Adam Sandler does. A quick, heavy hitting Hollywood produced movie, starring himself and a close circle of friends and business associates, never meant to be good or artful or entertaining or even really successful; just meant to make the people who work on it money. It's a cynical take, but it's fully inspired by the cynical movies devoid of heart or creativity.

Adam Sandler actually has movies that people love where he's the only lead actor and has shown in the past that he's an amazing actor when he chooses to be. The Rock on the other hand has not one where he's the only lead actor and has less range acting wise than Arnold Schwarzenegger and Keanu Reeves. Just look at his biggest hits and what kind of character he plays. Jumanji has Kevin Hart and Jack Black with Dwayne playing The Rock, Fast & Furious series has Vin Diesel with Dwayne playing the Rock, Moana is an animated Disney movie with Dwayne playing The Rock.

@Whoa80217 күн бұрын
That honestly makes things worse, as it makes all of The Rock's failures as a movie star his fault rather than the result of the lack of good writers/directors present. He can probably hire anyone he wants to write or shoot for him, but The Rock seems to have such a bland, vanilla level of taste when it comes to movies so he only seems to want hire the most conforming, work-for-hire, yes men types on his team. Dwayne should honestly take a page from Tom Cruise and work to secure the best, most talented team of filmmakers he can put together for his works and let them take care of things rather than try to micromanage everything himself. That's what's kept Cruise on top for so long. Thee guy recognizes and trusts talent when he sees it, The Rock should learn to do the same.

Ive noticed how crazy it is actors get paid. Which makes NO sense. I think it started in the 1940s when the actor Claude Rains, who played the Invisible Man, was paid 1 million dollars. Ever since then, actors have steadily continued to get paid WAAAY MORE than they really should be. Like why are people who are just PRETENDING to be a character getting paid so much more than people who literally put their lives on the line? Or who are like engineers, scientists, doctors, etc.? At least I could understand why they would be paid more. But an actor? Why?

He uses the same people to control them. If he was on a set with a real director, they’d never let him get away with being so damn lazy. Notice how Arnold and Stallone and Willis and Van Damne all worked with top tier action directors? Name one big time director who Dwayne has worked with? John Woo? James Cameron? Nope. Look at Batista’s resume and you’ll see he’s worked with Villeneuve, Rian Johnson, James Gunn, people who have legit credentials and respect in the industry. See how he’s improved as a performer? It’s not an accident.

Isn't all of Hollywood going in the same direction? I can't think of the last movie I've seen in the last 10 years that has left an impression on me. Everything is awful. I don't go to theaters anymore because I know I'm not gonna get what I want, and I want good storytelling and good acting and don't get me started on the elevated prices of tickets, popcorn and sodas. 🙄

Even Schwarzenegger has more range than Dwayne...he plays The Rock in everything...just watch Scorpion King and The Rundown...thats pretty much the best and most original he ever was

Arnold in his prime never came off anywhere near as fake, self-absorbed, and narcissistic as The Rock is. That's not to say that he was a saint or anything, but at least the Governator was willing to take more chances with his films and work with directors with actual talent and vision (Cameron, Verhoeven, McTiernan etc.) rather than just talentless hacks that just let their stars run the show for them. I remember a story about a time when Arnold got chewed out by James Cameron for being a couple hours late for the shooting of True Lies. Rather than talk back and argue with the director, however, Arnold instead took it like a man. When his co-star Tom Arnold asked why he didn't snap back at him, Schwarzenegger replied "Because he was right." Can you honestly imagine The Rock showing that type of humility?

'Hate' is a pretty strong word to describe someone you've never met and who's only 'crime' is seemingly making crappy movies. And as far as working with the same people goes, that's kinda silly because directors like Mike Flanagan, Ridley Scott and many others do the same thing because it makes sense to work with people you know and are familiar with and had good experiences with if the opportunity presents itself.

Kiernan Shipka played Sally Draper in Mad Men and now she's an adult who challenges herself as an actor with every different role, so she gives me more reason to watch this than the Rock does.
