I don't think gta 4 is better than gta 5. Okay, 3-5 physics details may be nice, but Liberty City in GTA 4 is not a living city. Since I didn't find the city lively, it was just an area I used to go on missions. The fact that the car driving dynamics are more arcade in GTA 5 makes the game more compatible with online. They will most likely use this physics engine again in GTA 6. Because RDR2's physics are already better than this game. I guess those who say the story of the game is good have not played Mafia 2. And frankly the 5 works much better. The missions are repetitive and consist of going from point A to point B and killing someone.

Smoke doesn’t come out of manhole in gta 5 (los Angeles) because it does not have connections for heating. Liberty City(NYC) in gta 4 has those boiler connections underground for heating during cold weather and season hence steam from the manholes

Moreso a downgrade, I'm replaying every game and when I got to gta 4 after beating VCS on a PSP emulator, it just reminded me how it was hated back when it came out lol and why I still agree. The physics are fun and story is good but damn it gets boring fast and the driving is actual aids compared to the other games. Except 1/london and 2 of course lol, I just found SA to be a way more fun and better game than 4 still to this day. 😊

Yes, SA has customisation(which I didn't even use in that game), but IV has hanging out with friends, Subway option, TollBooths, and etc I guess. @@berserker135 If you pay attention, in Gta 4, your ragdoll speed is equalized according to the speed of your vehicle. In other words, you are at the speed of the vehicle you are driving. In Gta 5, when you jump out of the car or bike at full speed (as soon as you jump through the door), your ragdoll speed becomes directly low. Because the ragdoll speed is preset in the game. This breaks realism. I also did an experiment with mods. While I was driving at almost the speed of light, when I jumped out of the vehicle, the ragdoll/character slowed down to a certain speed as soon as it jumped out of the door. EDIT: Apart from all this, the reaction/physics of NPCs to being shot in Gta 4 is undoubtedly much more realistic than in Gta 5.

My theory on why gta V doesn’t have as much detail on certain things is due to the online aspect and the game being built around that. Probably would be a lot more workload on the server to send data to each player for if the wind is effecting Molotovs or a Granade shattering glass on a windshield when thrown at it. But idk

I recently tried out GTA 4 and played it all the way through and I absolutely hated it! Don’t get me wrong, the characters were great, the story was pretty good, the map and activities were great. The reason I hated it so much was because when you die, you have to start the mission all over again! In GTA 5 there are checkpoints that you respawn to when you die, while if you die in GTA 4, you have to redo the mission from the beginning, and I don’t just mean redo all of the fight scenes, but you also have to sit through the entire drive again if you die! The bank robbery mission almost made me want to quit because there are so many fight scenes and you have to do it all over again if you die! Also, in the final mission where you kill Jimmy Pegorino, there’s a stupid glitch where you can’t get onto the helicopter even when you rapidly smash the spacebar as much as you can (Although there is a way to bypass that glitch on the Steam version of the game thanks to a video I found) which really pissed me off as it was the final mission of the game and I thought I was going to have to give up there! In GTA 5, I was able to invest myself more into getting to know the characters and be more invested in the story and enjoy it more, while I was unable to do that at all in GTA 4 as I was always just so stressed out about passing the missions as I would have to start them all over again if I died, and therefore couldn’t get super invested in the characters/story because of the fact that I was super stressed out about not dying in the game and needing to repeat it all over again! The fact that so many characters call you all the time and ask you to do stuff with them was also pretty annoying in my opinion, but at least that’s avoidable by simply declining the offer, but The fact that you have to completely start over everyone you die is completely intolerable in my opinion and will probably never play GTA 4 again! Therefore I personally do not understand why everyone prefers GTA 4 over GTA 5. I am praying that GTA 6 will have the same type of level checkpoints thing that GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 both have!

I think some of these differences have to do with the climate. That's steam rising from the manhole cover which you wouldn't see in warm, dry California. I've also seen cars getting gas in GTA V. I think fire hydrant is more realistic in GTA V. Maybe it's not as interesting or fun but why would throwing a molotov at a fire hydrant cause it to erupt?

The fire hydrant part was awesome, whenever I think I know every detail in 4 I then see something I never even knew about. It really goes to show you how detailed gta 4 is, gta 4 was rockstar making a game they wanted to make and gta 5 was just a game to please the whining babies who were bitter about the car handling and cut features and seriousness of the story and boy did they ever downgrade the story in 5.
