What I loved about James Gunn’s trilogy was that he was the only one who could finish it. When Marvel fired him, they tried giving the job to every veteran, and up and coming director, but they all passed on it, simply out of respect for James and the universe he created with these films.

The thing i love about Nebula is that it really feels like shes joined a family that loves her. In the second movie, she didn't understand how people can be at each others throats yet still love each other. She learned the difference between friends and family. That and they all call her by a nickname. They call her either Nebby or Nebs, which must feel nice considering she never had a childhood. Now she has a family who will call her a dumb nickname because they love her.

I'd say compared to Quantumania from before, this isn't burdening itself with being the big piece of the next part of the ongoing MCU nor does it feel like the film was predominately done on a green screen. It was like everything that wasn't in the best way. The fact that more investment comes out of the stakes of trying to help a friend as opposed to SAVING THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE says wonders.

I was never the biggest fan of GotG. But this movie had me by the throat. From the moment we meet Lila and the others you knew what was gonna happen and it somehow made it more devastating. Every time the animals were on screen I sobbed like a child. EVERY TIME. This movie made me want to rewatch the whole trilogy
@papigringo5692 Жыл бұрын
Me too with the sobbing. Maybe it's because I have four pets and imagine voices and dialogue for each of them. The scenes with Rocket, Lylla, Floor, and Teefs were at once sweeter than honey and also utterly devastating. Rocket has long been my favorite character in the MCU. The way Gunn was able to develop such a great story for a talking raccoon is unbelievable.

Lylla is a character from the comics, with a direct tie to Rocket's origins. So Gunn including her name in vol. 1 was probably no more than that at the time. (Gamora is likewise listed as the last Zen-Whoberi survivor in that same booking sequence, even though it's the Russos who end up actually showing us that, in Infinity War. That's because that fact is ALSO lifted straight from the comics.) None of this is to detract from James Gunn's brilliance as a director, nor to diminish the achievement that GOTG vol. 3 truly is. Just saying that every single detail of vol. 3 was NOT thought out as far back as vol. 1
