Loved the new style of camera work - was uniquely effective and definitely fits your video styles perfectly. Also just realised you lived the path I want to walk so hopefully will be working with you in a few years time!

20- year church player here. I’ve found that if you give God’s people enough reverb and delay, maybe…maybe…(you can get away with the occasional wahwah). Ssssh, just don’t advertise it 😊

I bought the fender reflecting pool pedal. I don’t use the delay often, but I like the different sounds. I enjoy the reverb effect. To me it just gives that little bit of extra depth and resonance. It’s the only effect I always have on.

As a worship guitarist, I also had to know how to make reverb do its thing. And I enjoy it so very much. The Line6 Glitz reverb in my Pod Go is so much fun.

Hey Mike, thanks for this video! I am new to guitar only been playing for about two years and I dont understand any of those types of effects. This has really helped me understand how to use reverb and what its purpose is. Could you do more videos on all the other types of effects? Thanks man.

Reverb makes such a difference, whether it comes from a pedal or your amp. TC Electronic’s Hall of Fame 2 does everything I need and a ton more.

Modulate and Dynamic on my RV6 are my favourite types of Reverb. I got really into Beach House and Slowdive (who make all their music based off Reverb) about a year ago and they’ve completely changed my perspective on Reverb, it’s definitely my most used effect now

I love reverb! not all reverb is created equal. I love Marshall's digital reverb on their MG series amps. Pedal wise, Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Max. sidenote, I was able to dial in the EHX HG max to almost mirror the marshall mg digital reverb.

I love a good spring reverb always use it pretty wet with clean tones, to me a strat sounds dead without the right amount of reverb and that depends on how much you want. Reverb is really the single most important effect

I use a Strymon Flint. Plate for subtle reverb to add a bit of space, and Hall for bigger and more ambient sounds (with delay in worship music at church). I got the Favorite switch to go between them.

Plate is the best of all reverbs. You can make it sound like there is no reverb at all, it's so versatile. Then you can make it sound big and lush. It melts seamlessly on a track. I think bits because there is little early reflections in its sound.

My very first amp was a Peavy Backstory Plus: 35 watts of solid state joy with a spring reverb and Saturation control (basically a distortion knob that you can work in conjunction with the pre-amp volume). I tend to go light with reverb and use delay for more ambient or "wetter" sounds. To this day, I still don't own a separate reverb pedal......but my Boss CH-1 has never left my side 😀.

I'm in a sorta weird place on this 'cause, one the one fork of the tail, as a player and a songwriter I *love* lush reverbs and space effects. But on the other, as my own engineer and producer; and as someone who likes to mix in a ton of weird electronic industrial elements on all my tracks; when I'm recording I want that all that space be applied in the DAW after the fact so that it fits with the other elements of the song. So I end up using a ton of reverb and delay and yet rarely ever really getting to *play* with it. :)

Because your really young guy. 🙂In 80's and 90's reverb, delay and chorus where the base of the first gig to buy. The basic was an ampli with distorion channel (so footswitch) and a reverb or delay pedal or both depends on the money.

Now, I'm not a scolar in the world of music, far from it, however I do know this. People overthink music and equipment way to mutch. It all boils down to this. If it looks and sounds awesome to you, use it. If not, ditch it. In the end, it is all a preference and other people will like it or not. Every single band has that happening. Stop focussing on perfection and make and play what you love to hear and it doesn't really matter what other people think.

I do a lot of church gigs, and for those, the big sky is still king for me. But I also do a lot of country gigs, and for that, I prefer the flint just for its simplicity and the fact that it has trem. I use trem a TON in country.

Having started learning guitar just over a year ago through youtube and the rest of the internet, there are so many hard "rules" that people make for themselves like "Less is more" that may apply in one circumstance but not in all. At the end of the day, who cares if you have maxed your reverb out if it sounds good for that song in that gig?

I think the guitar players who are wrong about reverb, or effects in general, are the ones coming from a blues background. Pretty much all the rest of us are: “oh yeah baby slather on that ‘verb nice n THIC” Of course worship gigs want heavy reverb, they don’t care about your skills they just want those pretty ambient sounds the guitar can make with the right effects.

Tbh I don’t care about trying to conform to a genre of music. I would rather create something new or breathe new life into a genre that’s dead. So guitar effects are just a means for that.
