as a citizen, I really feel sorry and pained for India as we employ approximately 700 IFS officers which is less than Singapore which employs more than 800 officers with the city size of Chennai. We the rising sovereign power need to increase our foreign service to a minimum of 3000 officers or else we will pay dearly in times of need or war. thank you for the video

Shantanu has been brutally honest about various matters in this video. His comments about the Indian Civil Services are so true. I admire his courage to decide not to be part of the crowd and do what is politically correct in order to remain in the service so as to enjoy the perks/benefits and retirement benefits. He had the courage to stand up for what he believed in and is now in a good place. An inspiration for people of all ages.

@Shivam: Sure, reforming the services is a very noble aim. But the direction has to be set by the political leadership. Administrative Reforms have been on the agenda for years now but progress has been very slow, although things are changing since the last 10 years or so (e.g., encouraging lateral entry)

22:00 that’s what my father also once told me. That as a junior IFS officer sometimes you may even be expected to serve not the country but your superior. That’s very unprofessional. You get to live in a hostel, not as lavish as it might seem from a distance. Partly the reason why people end up choosing IAS over IFS. The least you can expect as an IAS is to get respect from general public, your peer and your relatives.
@silverstone8039
@silverstone8039 Жыл бұрын
Who lives in a hostel dude. Almost all the officers I know live in big houses. Almost all of them are juniors. You are saying as if IAS and other services are too professional. Getting threatened by local gundas being IAS and IPS is not cool dude. It's funny how people assume things with very half knowledge.

Bhai it was an amazing amazing podcast. Such quality content, such practical insights from someone who has been around the world. I'm an aspirant and I always wanted to pursue the foreign service, but had so many doubts regarding it, this discussion helped me clear like 70% of it. (While there is a lot of content available on administrative services, there is surprisingly much less information about the foreign services idk why) 1 thing I wanted to know specifically was what exactly is the day to day work to be done in IFS (coz VIP visits, meetings are occasional , so I'm assuming the daily workload is much much lesser as compared to IAS?) Would love to see more content especially related to foreign services/diplomacy. ❤️🤞

India, Pak and Bangladesh are three countries left that still maintains the 3rd toughest exam on earth with brightest mugging students who crack to get those prestigious jobs with unlimited fuel & Cars with perks and decent cottages including police security for self and family and a Blue Beacon light on official car with VIP siren to drive them through crowded street. I bet the President & PM’s of half the world nations would envy. Yet Alas these 3 nations are one of the poorest of poor, where 80% to 95% graduates are jobless, broken infrastructure, school and health care, rampant corruption. What makes me wonder is the best nation on earth like Japan, China, Singapore, gulf countries and even Her highness modern UK do no have these fancy extra ordinary powerful Civil service officers with special privilege, yet they are 100 times far more prosperous and happy over these three nations manned by these extraordinary powerful civil service lobby who direct their presidents and prime ministers.

I would seriously recommend to do this kind of podcast in Hindi with English subtitles. People can't learn to respect own culture unless they feel attached to that. This language is very dangerous, works as silent culture killer. Unless you force to stick to your mother tongue at least at public speaking. Your none of the ideas will be assimilate by indians. Unless you speak their language, indian will never accept any of ur suggestions. Unless you guys stop projecting yourself a kind of seperate elite class than the rest of the indians, your entire effort n time will be waste. You have to consciously throw Macaulay out of life at least at public forum so that masses understand you n respect your achievement better. Your efforts will be waste my friend.

Dear naman.I dont know why you have so much negativity towards the civil services.Its true that CSE is overhyped.and its not as glamourous as potrayed in our society.But it is necessary that youth should pursue the services so that the quality of the services improves..It is important to remember that many officers have silently worked for ages.without any credit.Most recently .if you take the case of covid 19.When politicians were running away.it were the officers who were coordinating medical help and managing hospitals.and doctors.. It is so easy to give up..To blame the system.But if nobody pursues CS.i donno in which direction our country will go.So please put aside Grapes are Sour attitude..and stop the negativity..

Naman sir, u r the beam of li8 that shades off the darkness of mind one has...here's a request, kindly do bring some courses or internship kind of thing in which we interested students can participate on basis of our interest on learning,growing,contributing and earning as well not on basis of wat degrees are we holding bcz there are lot of people like me who have interest and desire to work in an guided enviroment but no guidance also the traditional routes are very time consuming and tirey where one exausts his/her energy or get completely lost themselves..like I m witnessing now after giving two unsuccessful attempts in UPSC and switiching to State PSC which are so erratic...not to miss the increasing taunts and marriage pressure and lot many things when u feel crippled due to inability to improve family sitautions n miseries. So if u can help these kind of students it will be highly cherished and welcomed. Thank you Edit- I came to know about the GGI fellowship sir, may be its mean to ask but still I m asking tht could it be something like Pay after placement kind of thing. Cz it will be immensely immensely helpful for people like us. I cnt convey my interest to join such initiatives as well as cant convey wat circumstances going through. I will be very happy if this small msg reaches u Sir!
