Most students find boredom in between the pages of a history textbook, but why is it so essential to learn? Hear this history professor explain how history is not as ancient as it feels, and why it is so relevant today. Patrick Allitt was born and raised in Derbyshire, England. He graduated from Oxford in 1977 and studied for the PhD in American History at the University of California, Berkeley. He has been a professor in the Emory History Department since 1988. He is the author of seven books, including I’m the Teacher, You’re the Student: A Semester in the University Classroom. He is also the presenter of ten video and audio lecture series with “The Great Courses.” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. I always tell everybody that nowadays history is your most important subject in school and you should not be allowed to drop it early. It makes you look more objectively to information making you more resistant to fake(or super biased) news.

To me his lecture here is far more important than anything you actually learn in history, you could actually take something from his lesson for everyday lives, trying to use history itself when debating a certain political decision, this is the best practical use for it for common folk, maybe the only good use for it. Honestly, if lessons and learning from mistakes is the objective fiction covers that ground in a much more effective way, if literature actually tried to not be restricted to national content teachers would have a much bigger space to work with, imagine learning ethics using Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) or Attack on Titan instead of Shakespeare or something, they're both so much easier to understand and take lessons from.

The Great Creator The Great Creator Saturates and Surrounds all Existence. Matter, Energy, Knowledge, Space, and Time are just different viewpoints and concepts of the Great Creator. They all are just components of the Great Creator from different perspectives. There are a Great many Gods, and Gods are just imaginary mythical personages of worship. Gods are not Creators. Gods and Religion has been the failed and futile attempt to search for the Great Creator and to the understanding of creation. And creation is only the rearrangement of Matter. We just call that rearrangement, creation. Matter is not created from nothing; Matter has always existed. And knowledge is not created in the human brain. The brain was only designed and created to receive Knowledge. Truth is all that truly exists. Other than Truth there is just the understood concept of an absence. Even lies, whether intended to deceive or not, are Fantasy. Lies remain in the Fantasy realms, in the nonexistent realm. And as for those who are in the Fantasy World, thinking that the creation of the universe and life was created without intelligence, are in the prison of fantasy. True Science has proven the complex intelligent design and engineering of all creation. It is only intelligence that makes Creation posable. This is just words to the honest and wise: honesty and understanding is the only true belief. Without honesty and understanding we do not know what to believe. To accept others opinion of the truth without proving it to yourself; it is being deceived it is not believing. We must understand to believe. Until Next time; Sweet Dreams: truth will solve all our problems before we create them; and ignore or reject the truth; problems will multiply all by themselves; those problems will need no help. Have a great and a meaningful life if it is at all possible. Just whispers, of the Ghost of Reality.

As someone who studied ethnic conflicts for many years, I suggest that perhaps it is not adequate to try to put oneself in other people's shoose hoping to understand them. We are all likely to be genetically wired to understand our own genetic history more so then our external experiences, therefore, one can never assume to truly understand "the other", our perception of "the other" are tinged by our own biology. Yes it is a conflict between right and right if you depart from the point that both side have their reasons, nevertheless, one can only see "the other" thru one own eyes.

Well, isn’t that the start of most wars? Indeed, if a war about a murder of a Archduke can cause a war or a treaty from said war to cause the next one, isn’t ever other war also caused by greed and power? Take the 100 years war between England and France in the high Middle Ages, it really was just a war for the French throne which can be interpreted as greed.
