I'd love for more horse based games to have a more adult look and feel. Alot of them are mainly marketed to children only and the gameplay and graphics are just mediocre. I'd love to see more from game devs in this area of gaming

I completely understand where you're coming from! It would indeed be fantastic to see more horse-based games that cater to an adult audience. Agreed, that many horse games are primarily marketed to children, which can sometimes limit the depth of gameplay and graphics. It's so frustrating. Hopefully, game developers will take note of this demand and create games that offer a more adult-oriented look and feel, expanding the horizons of the horse gaming genre. 🐎🎮✨

Since I was a little kid I fantasized about a story-driven game who happened to have horses as one part of the story. Especially fantasy themed, but very well made... Maybe including more serious themes like animal abuse or other more adult themes.

I feel what bothers me is that the gameplay in plenty of recent horse games feel lacking, with barely anything to do. Granted there isn't a lot in early games either, but each time I played My Horse and Me for example, I got better at the minigames and was addicted to improving my score and unlocking every peice of clothing Recent horse games don't feel like the reward for playing is worth it. With no additional games that don't focus solely on "realistic" horsemanship (which more often than not doesn't actually feel realistic to me)

Horse games need to have gameplay aside from Horses. It's so tiring seeing the same old "girl becomes super rider, tames wild horse and wins competition" story. Why not make a Darksiders Styled MMO with more Horse focus. Add some fighting, Dungeons and Loot to the game. Basically it needs to be a solid MMORPG first and then a Horse game needs to be added on top.

This is so true, the sad reality really... If Rockstar did focus all their attention to make a Horse Game... they would be dangerous on the market, they would own it all! Looking down from the hill! Horse games is more or less either half made, or people put their whole heart into it, but it does not work out in the end sadly for some of them. I hope that some of the games that are still in motion learns from the older games and see truly what works or not ♥

Ive assembled a small team to make a horse game (no promises) but what exactly does everyone think makes a good horse game?
@ChelseaLiz
@ChelseaLiz 10 ай бұрын
I kinda wanna make a video on this topic as I feel very passionate about this lol Short version: Realistic horse behavior - not just focused on realistic riding but horse behavior instead of riding mechanics. Graphics geared more towards adults if you are trying to move away from the childish horse game genre and tap into more of an adult audience but since children take up a wide part of our niche it would be a good idea to try and appeal to people outside the horse game niche to more than just horse game lovers. Like Ranch of Rivershine did with their horse game being a cozy game. Everyone is doing the riding, training, breeding, and competing thing now so it would be cool to see something unique and completely different. Move towards storytelling and not monotonous quests. Have DEPTH. Make it relatable. Make people FEEL and connect with the game. Customization is great but I miss character development a balance between the two would be nice. Community is EVERYTHING. Think about the community your game will create and let it help shape your game. I also wish horse games that were more "realistic" actually focused on educational elements that teach players about horses. Like horse genetics for instance which is very hard and complicated. BUT if you don't want that in the game just make sure you don't teach people incorrectly. Fair Monetization is #1 I hate pay-to-win or pay-to-play. I hate microtransactions and its why I don't really play rival stars on mobile nor do I play a lot of mobile games and have really grown to despise their shady money tactics. A game you pay for and that has actual DLCS of content, not cosmetic items would be awesome to see and encourages people to play for a long time. Not just finish the story and never touch the game again. XD I hope that helps a bit sorry I got a bit carried away. Thank you for your lovely comment and reach out if you ever want to talk more horsey games! ^-^

My Dream game would be realistic graphics interaction and gameplay of RDR2 type Horses, but in a ranching/farming game with full building/renovating ability to create your dream farm buildings and fences, other animals too etc. An open world to explore, wild horses to catch and train, option of training for and competing in different events dressage jumping cross country etc. Horse breeding too. Other people Online or NPCs to interact with and ride with would be nice too, a lot of offline games feel lonely.

Ahhh your sweet comment made my day! I would love to help you learn more about RDR2! :D I want to make a video on this topic so thank you for asking!! I really appreciate it. Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) is available on several platforms, each with its own benefits: PlayStation 4 (PS4) & Xbox Benefits: Offers excellent graphics and performance on a console, with the option to play in 4K resolution on a PS4 Pro. PlayStation 5 (PS5): Benefits: RDR2 is backward compatible on the PS5, so you can play the PS4 version with improved load times and performance. I recommend the PC (Windows): You will need a PC that can run it but it has the highest quality of graphics and performance, you can have mods, you can run reshade (which makes the game look really pretty with bokeh and pretty stuff ~ I record a lot with it), you also can join Redm Servers!! :D which is the best benefit. Most Redm servers are roleplay but ours is crafted for people who love horses so we use the mechanics and added our own things as well like jumps. We've learned how to import a lot of horse stuff into the game and yeahhhh) - So you can also get Red Dead Online (standalone) it's just Red Dead Multiplayer - but it's pretty toxic so it's what inspired me to make The Rift. We just trail ride together and hang out and we grew so much we built our own Redm Server . But PC is by far superior and if you can get a pc that can play RDR2 you can play a lot of other amazing games on PC and well I know i'm just trying to bring you to the PC side of gaming here so I might be a bit bias butttttttt RDR2 is a story based game. It's THE BEST. I love it so much. RDR2 is set in 1899, in the final days of the Wild West era. You play as Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and a member of the Van der Linde gang led by Dutch van der Linde. The gang is on the run from the law and is struggling to survive in a changing world. The story revolves around their adventures, struggles, and the pursuit of the American Dream, all while trying to avoid the lawmen and bounty hunters on their trail. Horses: Horses play a central role in RDR2, both in terms of gameplay and narrative. They are your primary mode of transportation, and you can bond with them, improving their performance and abilities. You can also own and customize various horse breeds to suit your needs, whether for speed, endurance, or combat. The game's attention to detail in horse mechanics is exceptional. Horses are realistic in their behavior, requiring care, feeding, and grooming. They also react to the environment and Arthur's actions, making them feel like genuine companions throughout your journey. Horses are not just tools for transportation; they become vital companions that form strong bonds with Arthur. They play a significant role in the emotional aspects of the game, and your choices regarding them can impact the story and character development. In summary, RDR2 combines an immersive, character-driven narrative with a deep connection to horses, making them an integral part of both the gameplay and the emotional journey of Arthur Morgan. In Red Dead Redemption 2, you can absolutely ride and catch horses. You can have multiple horses throughout the game, but you can only actively own one at a time. However, you can stable and keep multiple horses in your personal horse stable. While you don't have your own barn or home in the traditional sense, you do have access to a camp where you and your gang members stay. You can upgrade and improve the camp, which includes adding amenities for your horses. Additionally, you can buy and customize a variety of horse equipment, like saddles and stirrups, to enhance your riding experience. Red Dead Online (RDO) is the multiplayer component of Red Dead Redemption 2, offering players the opportunity to explore an open-world Wild West setting, engage in various activities, form posses with other players, and take on various roles such as bounty hunter or trader in a persistent online world. There aren't many updates and it's pretty toxic as people will mod and ruin the experience so that is why I created my community, The Rift. We have trail rides together in RDO we meet up and hang host other events. If you do get a PC you can play on Redm : RedM is a mod framework for Red Dead Redemption 2 that allows players and modders to create and customize their own multiplayer servers. So that is how I was able to make The Rift Redm. We transformed a multiplayer server into Red Dead a horse game. Other people's Redm Servers are more western roleplay. Like the story. Ours is all about horses and equestrian aspects of the game. We utilize the awesome horse mechanics. I hope that isn't confusing. XD I will try and make a video!! ^-^

Wouldn't it be nice too see a horse game where there are no humans? Could be like a wild horse simulater or like any sort of fantasy where horses take over the role of humans, kinda like with Star Stable's jorvik wilds living in wild woods, having their own economy and all. Or something where there are humans but not as the playable chacracter. Only an element for the story. A bit like some cat games where you're the cat and on a mission or where you are critical towards humans and now have to get along with one and slowly become friends.

I don’t think it’s really fair to call Rattle a good resource. They constantly blame developers for issues that have to do with decisions made by the companies behind many games. They’re great for learning about drama (especially when Rattle likes to go into discord servers and act like server rules and discord TOS don’t apply to them by picking fights) but they spread misinfo on how game development actually works. There’s also a distinct issue with them echoing ideas other (none horse game) KZbinrs say who have been called out in the past for misinfo. Aaaand doesn’t help they’ll bash SSO for micro-transactions but praise Rival Stars despite being entirely funded by micro-transactions. Maybe if they were consistent that’d be a different story. But yeah- horse games suck because well, the players kind of suck. They’re a very uneducated demographic and no-one wants to touch them with a ten foot pole. I’ve gone and asked quite a few game developers: hey, why not create a wolfquest style horse sim that emphasizes equine behavior and what they experience in a wild setting. Boom, fun and educational! However, overwhelmingly the answer I’ve heard is: horse game people don’t want that. They like the same old English timed event games over and over again, or they want a stardew valley type plot (which is understandable tbh), the community wouldn’t fund it, wolfquest is the only animal sim of its caliber and probably ever will be, people don’t actually want high caliber horse games, horse game people wouldn’t know how to appreciate it, etc, etc.

Hi there! Thank you for sharing your perspective on this topic! ^-^ I believe it's important to have open discussions about the horse gaming community and its challenges. While I respect your opinion regarding Rattle and their content, I want to emphasize that the community I have here strives to be a kind one. Your welcome to share your opinion but It's essential to maintain a respectful and constructive tone when discussing content creators and their work. There are various viewpoints within the horse game community. Rattle, like every other content creator , expresses their opinions, and while they may have different perspectives than you they do contribute to the conversation and raise awareness about issues that matter to some horse game enthusiasts. You don't have to agree with everything they've done in their life or even enjoy their content. You don't have like like anything they do or say, but I personally try not to judge someone until I know them on a personal level. 💞 I also knew adding their name to this list might trigger comments like this but I stand by my own opinion. You are also totally allowed to have your own and heck even make a yt video about it if you want and call it "horse games suck cuz players kinda suck". But I would beg to differ and it is a statment I do not agree with. We are just a niche not on the same exact page who got taken advantage of and let down SO many times. It's not suprising someone would make content geared towards the not so pretty side of horse games. - It gives publishers and the people making the games some accountablility. Something to at least fear or consider before some new game decides to use some unethtical monetization practice or teach gambling to children. When it comes to the idea of developing an educational horse sim game or something along the lines of a WolfQuest-style simulation, I agree. This game concept is far from origional and has surfaced in discussions before, and based on my own research and conversations within my community, it appears to be quite popular. My girlfriend who is a game developer has even talked about trying to make a similar game - but for now we are just learning all we can about the industry as a whole. However, it's important (in my own opinion), to recognize that the horse gaming genre encompasses a wide range of preferences. Just like the real horse industry. Racing to Western, to Ranch work, to horsemanship and everything in between. Not every player may have the same interests when it comes to the type of game they enjoy. We just need to have the same expectations. Realistic expectations. Anyways, thank you for the comment. Ultimately, my goal here is to encourage positive discussions and bring together horse game enthusiasts to explore various aspects of this unique niche. 😊🐴

Hey! Just popping in as well, "Rival Stars despite being entirely funded by micro-transactions" this part is not true. @Hawktail56

@@xOutdated that’s fair. I stopped watching Rattle because of the continued misinformation that developers control monetization, what gets published, and when- so I don’t have too much awareness of recent postings aside from Rattle being quite fond of putting rival stars on a pedestal and bashing others for not having the financials means nor control to be on Rival Star’s level.
