this might be one of my favourite videos of all time. the animation is absolutely lovely, it is the perfect example of the aesthetics of our decade. the explanation is satisfactory and scientific, while providing information for further research if someone would wish to do so. as someone who used to dance competetively i’m often sad about the lack of discussions about the place of dance in the social sphere so the theme hit close to home! thank you for your effort and keep up the good work!

I agree with the explanation of dancing in / with a group. it however does not explain why people also dance and move to music when they are alone.

It's a wierd thing but I guess the answer (like why we do most things in life is) that we feel good when we're doing it

Brilliant, just brilliant! Thank you for creating this amazing, probably one of the BEST, video explaining my life and the reason I believe social dance (such as Argentine Tango) is the best antidote to everything, from depression and pain to loneliness and isolation. Let's DANCE!

you can skip to 3:18 to get the explanation, also im pretty sure Emile Durkheim overview is just a post hoc rationalization, the simplest explanation would be it was trendy and people got socially pressured to do the same until it became the norm, maybe it started from religious ceremonies and tickled down to the society, and good luck trying to explain rationally why religion does things
