Love that Beta built this bike. I bought a '24 to replace my early 2000 KDX 220. Couldn't be happier - just took a little while to dial in the jetting after swapping on an FMF Fatty. Very rich pilot from setup from the factory.

Hilarious! I made the same transition as a more mature male! Had the YZ250X, which I absolutely loved, and switched to the Xtrainer! Can't say anything bad about the YZ...it's phenomenal! I abused it, then gave it to my older son who also abused it (then purchased the Beta 300RR with same KYB shocks), then sold it to another guy who's still abusing it! However, as is the case with your decision, my primary riding terrain dictated something different. Four things that I found to be I nice addition to the Xtrainer: 1) The P-Tech pipe guard/skid plate. Great fit and very effective for technical stuff! 2) The Motoseat ribbed gripper seat cover, sold on Betausa store. 3) Tossed the oil injection. 4) Stiffer springs for my mature fat ars! IMHO, the fit-n-finish and electronics have a ways to go. Nothing like the Yamaha. But this bike has been an absolute joy, and I'd purchase another. Best climbing bike I've ever had!

I have a 300re s and and Xtrainer 300. You were spot on on your description. The XT excels in slow speed technical terrain. The XT is so easy to ride! But what you gain in slow speed you lack at high speed. (Big sand whoops) the XT suffers bad. My race edition gets better the faster I go. The XT is noticeably lighter than my RE also.
@nosyjoe3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that feedback…I’ve been eyeing those race editions…great looking bikes!
@endurobandit3 жыл бұрын
Wonder what the top speed is on that baby? The YZ250X will do 144km/h stock, and I can hit big jumps with it which the Beta wouldn't do with it's peachy suspension. But I'm sure the Beta 300 would be better suited for more technical riding. The YZ250X is not geared right for that so you have to work it harder on the gnarly stuff when it's steep, even if you slap a bigger rear sprocket on to compensate for the tall 1st and 2nd.

Can't find a YZ250X, they're all sold out. But I found a dealer with a 2021 Xtrainer in stock. I live in Southern California and will be riding mostly wide open desert. How do you think it will do in that terrain? I'm not an aggressive rider and just want to have fun.
@nosyjoe3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on how fast you wanna ride. Some complain that the soft suspension on the XTrainer can get a little wild at speed. That can be helped with suspension mods. My riding trails rarely get me out of 3rd gear so it’s hard to compare
@jandrews37711 ай бұрын
Sounds like you need a xc bike. Better suspension, slightly longer rake , more stable at speed. This bike here is great for slower single track trails.
@Sanguine_Addiction11 ай бұрын
I actually found a used 2017 YZ250X a few years back, had 80 hours. I installed a SmartCarb and a Scott's stabilizer. STUPID amounts of fun to ride in the desert!! I sold it a few months ago after the birth of my newborn twins. I didn't want her rotting away in the garage, unridden. I'll get another bike once the kids are like 1 or 2 yrs old and most likely it'll be the Beta 200RR. Reminds me of the KDX200. The 200cc two strokes are the go anywhere, do anything bike.@@jandrews377

Looking into a yz 250x at 42 , and only 5 foot 7 inches tall the lower seat height is really appealing, as the yz I can barely touch the ground and it makes me very uncomfortable. Def think I might look into 1 of these instead. Just still a little unsure if it is versatile enough to handle mx track as well as I want an all around bike....
@nosyjoe3 жыл бұрын
It would be a lot of suspension work to make it MX friendly. Very soft suspension. Maybe look into lowering the YZ or get into the 300RR Beta but that’s more money but by the time you upgrade XT suspension you’d be about the same.

Unsure if I understand comparing the two bikes. The Yamaha is a race bike and not close to being streetable. It's high strung, no provisions for lights, horn, etc., a 38.2" seat height ?? While the Beta has a much lower seat, is tuned for torque and is factory wired to be street legal. Plus it has a 6 month warranty. One Beta, please.
