Nice welder. I am a beginner. I clicked on the video because I saw the FORNEY. I am using one at work, it's a different model, but looks identical to yours. The machine is solid and easy to use. I am considering buying the machine you have for my own personal use. Good review, thanks a bunch.👍👍

Been looking reviews for this machine for few weeks now. Your video made up my mind and definitely will get this welder today! Thanks for straight forward explanation and honest review. Good luck with your "skoolie" and happy welding!

Very good primer for a beginner. Flux core is good enough for most things on a Skoolie project. Your explanation on why you chose that machine is exceptional. I bought the wrong starter 120v machine myself. It was cheap but it's very limited in its controls. It's definitely far easier than most people think to do hobby level welding. Obviously technical welding is a very different thing. Excellent video.

Thanks! I put a lot of time into the research, so I am happy to share! We're cutting out bolts and grinding floor rust today, so we'll get a better handle on what we'll need to weld!

Been welding since age 15 mostly stick some mig, commercial welder. In a different part of the world from where live now. Recently bought the Harbor Freight 225 amp stick welder and their multi welder. Decided I didn't want to have to keep changing wire from flex wire to MIG so I bought the same machine in your video from Amazon. Recommend you get anti splatter spray and the nozzle dip.

Great tip, thanks! (I have really liked this welder. Just did a pretty big under-storage project for the bus and it did everything I needed it to!)

Great review. As a matter of fact this is the one I bought, thanks to your review. Totally happy with it as I too am a beginner pretty much. I like your honesty and the fact you're not reviewing it like some pros whose skills have gone to their head. I mean really, comparing a $399 welder to a $4,000 welder, then say it's junk because it cant do the same job. lol

I know, right? "This Honda Civic is a pile of garbage because it's not as fast as a Porsche." I'm still really happy with it...just welded a crack in my exhaust with it last week. Super handy to have around!

Stick Welders are great for putting heavier metals together, MIG - CO2 and Argon gas mix and great for the kind of projects you are doing too as well as the Flux Core Welder which is simpler eliminating the gas component. Great Choice Ted :) I think you will be Very Happy with it. Nice Beads on the shelving bars.

Just a thought. If there is a welding shop nearby, most certainly someone would spend and share their talent and suggestions. (BYOM, Bring Your Own Machine)😁 Would make great content for a video and advertisement for a shop! Thanks!👍

Great idea, Phil! I know we have a couple of machine shops in town, I'll have to see if there are welding shops, too...

@River-Channel2 жыл бұрын
I looked at both and went with the Forney. It's got a little more power if you need it. I've really been happy with it...welded stuff from 14 gauge to 3/16"

@@River-Channel yeah I'm going to go pick a used one yp with extra spool 0f.30 flux for 120... when used titanium are going for the price they sell them at harbor frieght... plus if I had the choice to have more power or have less im gonna go with more power. Tha ks for responding and the video helped me alot

Mind sharing what voltage and wire speed you found to be most optimal for 1/4 inch and 3/16 inch steel? Thanks for this video.
@River-Channel2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay, Jeff...I had to track down some 3/16th steel scraps! I played around with it a bit today. The chart on the welder says 9 for both voltage and wire speed, but I found just a bit over 8 worked best. Hope this helps!
