In this video, I'm sharing why I chose the Fujifilm XT4 camera over a Full Frame camera.
I hope you find this video helpful if you're looking to make the same decision! I cover the pros and cons of both cameras in detail, so you can make an informed decision about which camera is right for you. Thanks for watching!

What you’re saying about low light and aperture size is incorrect. The reason full frame cameras are better in low light is because of a lower sensor signal-to-noise ratio. It has nothing to do with the lens. You get the same exposure on crop sensor and full frame using the same exposure triangle settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO). The difference will be that the full frame camera will produce less noise and have a shallower depth-of-field at the same settings.

I have read up on it after creating the video, unfortunately not in time to make it in the video, thanks for adding it though, I'll pin the comment :-) And what I meant with the better light performance touches on what you mentioned, you'll have a shallower depth of field with a FF camera at the same settings. :-)

Actual it’s when you account for the Field of depth it’s actually the same SnR but it look’s different be a people zoom in at 1:1 when it’s different crops factors. The fuji X-H2/S has some of the best SnR and dynamic range on the market. Some of the cinema and sony cameras beat them tho. Look at CineD and look at their rankings list

A light meter does not ask whether you use FF or APSC (or MF or MFT) - an F/2 or F/1 or F/1.4 will always give you the same exposure on any size sensor at a certain ISO and shutter speed. It's the angle of view that differs because the projection falls on a different size sensor.

I picked fujifilm because i wanted the best apsc system, without having to carry full frame lenses. I like photography but I like hiking without having my gear weighing me down.

Don't really get why you'd think image quality e.g. on prints would be a concern when print quality isn't bound to sensor size. Most full frame cameras out there have around 24mp, just like most APSC cameras. If you were to have an X-T5, you even have higher pixel density than the average full frame camera like a Sony A7 IV. Of course there are full frame cameras with even more pixels, but they are not the norm, especially not outside of commercial photoshoots. I think the huge advantage of APSC is that you get a way bigger feature set at a way lower price. Take the Fujifilm X-S20 for example, you get a 26mp sensor with good IBIS, good rolling shutter, 4K60 video, 6k open gate video, 1080p240 slow mo, up to 30 pictures a second in burst, a big battery and a decent screen and viewfinder for €1300. If you look at full frame, you just don't get that for less than double the price and the body weighs 50% more as well. So while you give up some minor lowlight performance and lose a bit of bokeh, you gain way more. People always focus on these two downsides of APSC but never address the upsides you get for the same or lower price. 4K60 and 1080p240 are way more important for video work than a bit lower ISO at lowlight or a tiny bit more creamy backgrounds. Of course, you can get a full frame camera that has all these features while being full frame, but that will set you down 3-4k, not 1.3k. Overall really good video quality for a small channel, keep it up

I'm mostly talking about the newer FF cameras, that deal easily with 45+ MP. To be fair, a lot of new Fujifilm cameras are also on 40 MP now. I agree on the price being a huge advantage, and also the lenses in comparison. I think FF cameras have a better better signal to noise ratio and can therefore display more to detail in a print the same size, even though both cameras have the same MP count. Thanks for your input though, I agree there is really not a huge difference anymore. And thanks, I'll keep at it :-)

Hi, nice video but FIY crop factor will only affect bokeh not light performance of a lens😊
@lukasbenjamin_
@lukasbenjamin_ 11 ай бұрын
Well, it affects the light performance of the lens in the sense, that you need a lower aperture to achieve the same bokeh of the FF, but fair point, thanks :-)
@saulsigalov
@saulsigalov 10 ай бұрын
@@lukasbenjamin_ That's not true - light gathering camapbility is not the same thing as bokeh. Yes the crop factor affects the shallow depth of field but f2 on a crop sensor lets in the same ammount of light as f2 on a full frame. Exposure settings will be the same for a FF or Crop sensor, the only thing that will look different is the depth of field.

I had Nikon D850 and D 500. D 500 crop sensor for wildlife. Crop to full frame sensor is one stop of light. Is important not only for low light photography. Is a big different you take a photo with 6400 ISO or one stop less give you 3200 ISO. 3200 ISO is the max I use. In Canyons and forests forget the crop sensor. I took several test shuts on calibration images. I print larger prints. You see the different easy. The lens ranch is much better. Now I have aZ8. Top landscape photographer going with medium format about the details. With the crop you get more depth of field than with larger sensors. I use crop only when my 600 mm lens is not enough to capture a small bird etc. My next additional camera will be a medium sensor 100 Meg. for larger prints and details.

It’s a valid reason especially if you print very large. Personally I only print max. 60x40 cm and Fuji apsc is more than enough for that. Also I mostly shoot still scenes, rarely anything that’s moving.

I did too from Nikon D850 to fujifilm XT5...and I dont regret it!! It has actually made me a better photographer because you need to be a little bit more precise with light. You can't just under expose something and then save it in post. You actually have to correctly expose your images a little bit better than what you do with full frame, especially the icon I can severely und expose image and still rescue it in post I can't do that on the Fujifilm XT5 I can under expose a little bit it's dynamic range is fantastic, but it's not the D850 and this time has made me a better photographer

I agree completely, you have to make sure you get it right in camera, which in turn gets you to pay more attention to detail. Same thing with cropping in on my 26MP xt4 vs a let's say 50 or 100 MP camera

@@lukasbenjamin_ yeah you could grab 100 megapixel Fujifilm camera and just press the button and crop and save it in dynamic range and say wow look at me I'm a great photographer it's not the true test is using gear that is a little bit more challenging and this actually makes you a better photographer, 100% agree. The only reason I went for the XT5 is because of the flip out screen I didn't like the flip out screen on the XT4 as I'm a photographer. Not really a hybrid shooter.... I shoot 4K 30 with a GoPro 10, so I don't need a video camera. In fact, I wish Fujifilm made a camera with no video I would buy in a heartbeat.

@@nevvanclarke9225 oh I definitely understand your reasoning with the xt5, I much prefer the tilting screen to the flip out screen of the xt4 for photography, but for video I just need the Flippy screen. I actually do like the fact I can turn the screen around and only use the evf though, I do that a lot when I'm shooting travel photography.

A good few years ago now I printed a 4mp image at poster size (around 16in by 20in I think). I made a perfectly acceptable image at viewing distances when stuck on a wall. When compared to a 6in by 4in print of the same image there was an obvious drop off in quality, not surprisingly. However, in isolation stuck on a wall it was more than acceptable.

I think we’ve all become too reliant on those high MP cameras. It’s not strictly necessary to have 26, 40 or even 100 MP to print an image. Obviously the quality is gonna improve, but I don’t know anyone except photographers that would go up close to an image to check the finest detail.

Thats a lens I was always a bit curious about, read good stuff about it. Though I do have a 12mm from samyang and even though thats a bit wider and its practically not usable below f8, I dont tend to shoot wide angle as much. Most of the time I my shots tend to be more on the telephoto side. If I do have the opportunity one day, I will def test ist out though!

Not at all 😅 My reasons to go with apsc, is that I print lots of my work and the sensorsize is not a problem for the size I print. Mobile devices would certainly not get the same quality on a print. But more importantly, I shoot Fujifilm specifically because I like the cameras retro styling and being able to use physical dials on the camera to adjust my settings, both not available on mobile devices. Though if you like shooting mobile, more power to you. Shoot on whatever feels best for you!
