I found face/eye autodetect confusing when there are multiple people too. I just assumed that it would prioritise where I placed the AF point or square. I've set a button to turn eye auto detect on or off as I need. I'm not usually going with really shallow depth of field with groups of people, so I'm happy to turn eye detect off with a button as needed. I would love though if there was at least an option to have it prioritise the face you choose.

Yeah, I made the same assumption about subject detection and autofocus points… Fuji should really revise the firmware to prioritize the autofocus points heavily…

Dude I swear I love Fuji, I have an XT2 and I still love it, I use it for street photography, but for the type of photography I do so far the approaches do not support me, so I use Sony for professional work, I think it is something that if Fuji gets to put on par with a Sony RV, things would change for many photographers, because really many shoot with Sony for the performance, but not for love, Fuji has that nostalgia that gives you a special affection with the camera, but in time I am sure we will get to that point.

Hello, thank you for your good video. Please suggest a good zoom lens for the Fuji system. The image quality of 18-55 is not very good and it behind fujicorns, the 16-55 lens is very heavy and large, the 16-80 has some focus problems and exposure changes during zoom! Also, 18-120 is not in a better condition!
@SimonLorinser
@SimonLorinser Жыл бұрын
Hi, this is very hard to say. I use the 16-55mm and I like it very much. Yes, it is heavy but for me it's in the balance and with the f2.8 and the sharpness a great choice. And I wouldn't say that the image quality of the 18-55 is not very good. I always liked that lens, but of course it is not as sharp the 16-55.

This will be my first real camera. Do you reckon going for the XT5 or XS20 for longevity? My main interest is taking stills. XS20 with lens would be £1599 while the XT5 with lens would be £1999 with £90 cash back from Fuji.

I've been tossing up X-T5 vs X-S20 for a while and went for X-T5 in the end. The XT5 is an upgrade from my XT2 which I use in conjunction with an XH2 for event photography. For longevity the lack of weather sealing in the XS20 worried me a little. If you anticipate taking the camera out in bad weather, I think the XT5 wins out there. For me in addition to the weather sealing it was the second card slot (it's reassuring to have 2 copies of every photo for paid work in the rare event of a card failure) and the higher res sensor. I don't want to overstate the 40mp sensor though. I have been working events with 2 bodies (2 different focal lengths) on a harness with one being 24mp and the other 40mp. The clients will never tell which photos I delivered from the much older XT2. The same would go for the XS20. There is advantage though in 40mp if you find a nice composition in a really aggressive crop without losing too much detail. It to me a while to pull the trigger on the XT5. I've got no doubt that the XS20 will be a great stills camera. It's cheaper and it more closely matches the control layout of my XH2. For me it's mainly not wanting to be worried when I have to (or want to) shoot in bad weather. I also just love the look of the X-T5 in silver :)

Thanks for the reply@@NeilMcAliece. I have really been thinking about this for awhile and it certainly is not an easy choice to make... how much have you enjoyed shooting with the XT5?
@NeilMcAliece
@NeilMcAliece Жыл бұрын
@@PROnickDUDE I've only owned the XT5 a few days now. It's a very similar look and feel to my XT2 which I still love using, so the XT5 is a comfortable fit for me. (just a big leap in performance over the XT2, nicer EVF etc). What might have tipped me towards the X-S20 would be if I struggled with the control style of the XT cameras. I've already been switching back and forth between the XT2 and XH2 for about 10 months now without problems. It might be nice when working with 2 cameras at the same time to have the controls similar, but it hasn't really been annoying me. If your priority is photography, I think the XT5 wins out if you can fit it in the budget with the higher res sensor and possibly better durability with the weather sealing.
@SimonLorinser
@SimonLorinser Жыл бұрын
Let me say it like this. I think you're gonna be happy with both cameras. I think it's a question of your budget. If you're shooting mainly photos I think you should go with the X-T5 cause it's higher resolution. If you're more on the video side go with the X-S20. I think it would be best if you go to a store and hold both cameras in your hands and see what fits better.

I used it multiple times and liked the feeling in my hands. I can hold all lenses with it comfortable. But I suggest you test it out yourself and you can make your own impression in the store before you buy.

For landscape photography - Sony a6700 or Fujifilm X-T5?
@SimonLorinser
@SimonLorinser Жыл бұрын
That's hard to say. Especially because I never used the a6700. But both cameras have their advantages and disadvantages, but both are totally fine for landscapes. I would say you can't decide wrong so you have to figure out which camera you prefer more, also based on the lenses you want.

@@paulmaher1705 m 3 lenses for the X T 5 are 16-80, 70-300 and the Viltrox 27mm. The latter with being 40 mm equivalent is very useful for a variety o uses and weight wise is between the other 2 lenses. Kept the X T 20 with 18-55 kit lens for my wife.

@SimonLorinser
@SimonLorinser Жыл бұрын
Hi Josh, that's really a tough question to answer. It depends on what you want to photograph and what are you planning to shoot in the future. If you need a camera for private matters only and one which is so small to take everywhere, then go for the X100. If you tend to shoot more professional work, then go for the X-T5 for better battery life, autofocus and interchangeable lenses. I hope I could help you a bit but maybe you rent both cameras and try them out and look what is better for you :)
