The only reason why I got a studio is because my wife surprised me with it. I won’t lie, I LOVE IT and it got me addicted to Les Pauls and I will ABSOLUTELY be buying a standard too though!! But my studio feels more comfortable and natural than any guitar I’ve owned in the 27 years I’ve been playing!

wow a wife and a wife that buys you a guitar instead of complaining about you buying a guitar, you hit the daily double on that one! I don't have either but I am in search for guitar right now, its cheaper than a ring. And there is no guarantee the ring will always be there.

Functionality aside, I have always hated the aesthetics of most guitar bindings. And in the worst cases, bindings (body and fretboard) make a guitar look too 'busy.' I prefer the Studio's cleaner and simpler look, but that's just my preference.
@McAdamstry6 ай бұрын
I was the same. I’m a fender guy but it was time to get a LP and I was drawn to the studio. Price helped of course.

I've got one of those too, mahogany top 2007. Killer guitar, and I especially love it because it looks like a big coffee bean :) Very resonant too, maybe due to chambering, but I don't mind chambering at all! It's still a real Les Paul! I added mirror knobs and a 3-ply pickguard for that tuxedo look. Looks killer now! My main gigging axe!
@bradowens40528 ай бұрын
Everyone knows that you need binding and a fabulous looking top, or the guitar was not have sustain or tone. Anything less than a custom shop Murphy lab is not worth your time. The guitar has to have a highly figured top if it is going to stay in tune.
@crypticreality84845 ай бұрын
Plus the aerodynamics of the triple flame, (even if you have to put the Standard into the Studio's*scoff* 'soft case), allows for faster movements due to the superiority of the Standard's travel ability characteristics. 😂

Nice chops dude! I’ve played Epis for a long time. My favorite is a 93 LP, made at the Samick plant in Korea. It’s been all over the country with me. It’s to the point that it needs a new fretboard. So, I started looking at new Epis. There is no way I’m paying a grand or more for a Chinese guitar! So, I bought a Gibson studio in bourbonburst. It took me a few weeks to get used to the neck, but it came pleked and set up fairly close to how I like em. It’s also getting gutted and wired point to point 50’s.
@rockhaze9 ай бұрын
So you paid more to have Americans do the same work and follow the same guidelines, only to slap a Gibson tag on the headstock instead of Epi. You could have just spent less on the Epi and gutted it the same way you're doing to the Gibson, at half the cost. Not really following the logic here, other than brand envy.

If I could have found another one, I would have bought it. Also, shelling out that much money for a Chinese guitar….couldn’t bring myself to do it. Hard to describe? The gibson feels more alive? I miss my studios for the mid 90’s with the ebony fret boards. They just had a thing. I haven’t played recent studio that feels anything like it. The headstock snapped off one and dropped the other one in the studio and cracked the neck slightly. You cant go wrong with an American Gibson or Fender guitar when it comes to resale. I’m still kicking myself for not buying the smoke house studio with binding at $1,100. Back in 2018.

Yeah, I'm sure the Gibson hard case is made from higher quality chinese plastic than the Epi. Heard it gets additional reinforcement in the plastic from the Gibson logo. Heard it also gives your car +5hp when sitting in the trunk.

I had that same guitar. It was the best sounding LP i've ever had. It had repaired neck break. Kirk Hammet said that les pauls that have a neck repair end up sounding better. I don't know if I buy that. But it sounded sweet and played wonderfully. And I loved the feel of the satin, and the look of the natural finish.

Nice colour Gibson Les Paul Studio. I have a very similar coloured model, except that I bought mine new in 1993/94 and it was called the 'Les Paul Studio Lite'. Its colour is often referred to as 'Root beer' and it has black pickups and hardware. It's all still original, still stays in tune, and every year I love it more and more because of its character as well as its sound, as the inlays have yellowed nicely with age. My model also came with a ebony fret board, which was not a common feature on studio models, from my understanding. I hope it brings you years of joy!

Lastly , how does anyone feel about tuning locks on these? Sorry to ask so many questions.

One of the best guitar players I know, in fact basically the best Musicians I know main electric guitar is a Studio that looks exacley like this, he is far from a gear head ( the best players almost always have zero interest in that stuff), but he loves his Studio, always goes on about how his LP is so light compared to others, doesn't care why or how just loves that it sounds great and is super light.
