Thanks for the video! I'm currently hand stitching waxed canvas pouches and bags and loving it too, but sometime in the near future I'll be getting a Fabricator and I'm more excited than I can put into words! I was wondering, and I don't know if this is a stupid question because I've only ever hand sewn, but does sewing waxed canvas clog up your machine over time? Since I'm waxing the canvas myself I was wondering if it would be better for my machine if I waxed after sewing. Thanks and I'm glad I found your channel!

Would you mind explaining why hand stitching thread like Ritza doesn’t work in a machine? Thank you for the video

Hi there, I have heard of people doing this, I would advise against it as the thread is coated in wax and could lead to clogging, jamming and constant maintenance that your machine that its not built for. I always try to stick with what the manufacturer suggest. :)

@@Artysmotosupply thank you for replying... I figured waxed thread was a huge no no. I think a better stated question would be, Why does thread in machine have such odd sizing while something like ritza or similar is sized based on MM thickness?

@@xyz7975 you got me on that, I agree the sizing seems a bit odd, I just did a bit of trial and error in the beginning and found that size 92, and 138 thread are my happy places for my projects and the Sailrite machines.

What made you choose the fabricator over other models of sailrite?
@Artysmotosupply2 жыл бұрын
I would have to say the size, I knew that eventually I would want to make items bigger than wallets. The fabricator has a longer throat size than the rest allowing for larger material to run through without having to bend or manipulate the material too much.

Just found your channel :) - liked and subscribed. I'm a weekend leather worker and been hand sewing everything until I too just purchased the Sailrite fabricator. Given the shape of middle presser foot (.4 in/1 cm of metal sitting in front of the needle) I struggle with starting, stopping, making turns exactly where i want. Did you have this issue too? Thanks.

Hi Dan, thanks a ton for joining! I’m not sure I fully understand what you mean, I do know that when I need to start or stop on a certain location I turn to hand cranking. My order of operation that works for me is 1-use edge dividers to desired stitch line. 2-manually set the needle in desired start point. 3- line up edge guide to the leather. 4- stitch away keeping leather pressed against the guide….and always slow down around corners. Hope that helps !!!

Thanks so much for replying and sharing your process. I visited sailrites website and saw they sell a walking foot for leather work. It's notched in the front so there is nothing in front of the needle. I ordered it immediately. Going to solve my problem. Thanks again
