Why I chose to buy a 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor

I have a RR and triplets and this truck is perfect! I came from a 2020 FX4 F-150 and yeah, there is less cabin space, but we don't miss it at all. I do wish the US version got the rear vents, but the kids say they're comfortable and no gripes. With that being said, this may actually be my forever truck.

I've owned and driven 4WDs for over 50 years--everything from "bobtail" 4WDs to HD 4WD pickups. I've used all of them for more hardcore 4-wheeling than most people ever will--both for work and recreation. You've touched on the major downfall of ALL of the full-size "hardcore" 4WDs--they will perform great on the trails where they can physically fit, but--in many places--over half of the 4WD trails are too narrow for a full-size truck to fit. For years, I needed full-size 4WDs for my work, but I always kept a smaller 4WD around for the places that the full-size 4WD won't fit. And I still do today. The Ranger Raptor (or the Chevy Colorado ZR2) are still way wider than an old Jeep bobtail, but they can surely go a lot more places than a full-size Raptor. Ford's biggest challenge (along with other the Big 3 manufacturers) is getting their act together on reliability and making their vehicles affordable--they are flunking on both right now.

Great comment man. You definitely highlighted challenges for raptors and advantage the RR (other midsize) can bring vs a full size. It's crazy to think the prices of vehicles today. I do think they're going to increase the RR price. Most of the competition is starting $65k+ and arguably not as good

@@DavidFigs I agree. I bought mine immediately because I knew my trade wasn't going to worth more as time passed and based upon the dealer mark ups, I'm betting Ford jacks the price 10% cause the market has shown they will pay it.

One thing you left out of the Baja 1000 part, its the ONLY raptor to drive there, through and home. All the other raptors they put in it were towed there and home.

I was actually looking at gen 1 and gen 3’s but happen to find an available RR at MRSP, did you get the stubby antenna? I think for daily driving, the RR is excellent on the road and is enough for me on off road
