If I worked a 9-5, I wouldn't be able to afford to live on my own. There's also a level of peace I get being in my truck alone. Being on the road when most people are in bed and then getting off when most people are going into work is also a nice feeling.

Trucking can definitely be a blessing. My husband 404 Trucker was in trucking for almost 15 years and used that experience to land a federal career that still deals with trucking in a certain capacity. Yall be safe on those roads!!!!

I actually went through the grant while I was working as a forklift operator at a warehouse. They’re picky about who they select and it’s not giving to a lot of people. It helps to have job stability as well as something good on your resume. I have an associate degree so that helped. Life ain’t the same after trucking. The financial freedom is great as well as the opportunity. God is good 🙏

Getting my AZ license (essentially CDL here in Canada) was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Looking back, I wish I had got it sooner considering how little time investment is required for how much return on investment it is. It cost me around $10k to get it (because I chose to learn manual as well) but I was able to get an education grant like you said and got a $2k refund at tax time so I only came $8k out of pocket.

The problem that I’m facing right now is that I want to get my CDL and work with Gordon because I’m currently employed there, but they don’t do the CDL reimbursement nor offer training, so I would have to resign in order to go to school and wait six months in order to reapply. It’s not really a problem per se, I just don’t want to lose a job that I’ve tried so hard to get.

Hi Anthony. I don’t know if you would read this or not but I need some guidance. I was a lead driver at a food company I had one accident and it caused me my job. I was on salary making good money. Anyways I have this new job completely different from food service. It’s a construction trucking job. I get payed 23an hour plus overtime but I really don’t like this job and I’m driving a class b Truck. It’s not the pay that I complain it’s more about the job. I love moving boxes and working hard. In this job I just sit in the truck all day. I really don’t like the new job I have. The only reason why I haven’t gone back to the food service game is because I’m worried I may get into another accident. I have an interview with Sysco on the 22nd of July. I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna have a set route which makes more likely to get into an accident. What should I do? Thank you!!!

They didn’t have any weekend class’s in Florida? That sounds crazy. In Rhode Island there are options of week day and weekend classes. And I never seen what the week day classes looked like as far as capacity. I’d assume it wasn’t as full as the weekend because most people work. And got bills to pay and babies to feed. So seems strange that weekend classes wasn’t an option. Someone should open up a school and do weekends in Florida.

Not asking what exactly you make. But does someone like yourself with 6 years of experience make well over the $100k mark, when it seems a newbie can get to the century mark with food service? And do you see drivers leave food service due to injury? I've thought about food service, just not sure if my body can handle it. I grew up an athlete, and spent time in the Army doing some physical stuff. I still get out and play sports with my boys. But I turn 45 tmrw (June 27th) and know I have a partial tear in my rotator cuff. Just thinking out loud. I enjoy your videos.

If you’re concerned about hard labor with food service, look into getting your foot in the door in fuel hauling. I earn over 100k a year local fuel hauling in Texas and it’s not labor intensive at all. I still enjoy it.

I wouldn't go into food service with money as your top priority in the beginning. I know it sounds crazy. A lot of what you make depends on the company and location. Then you get into driving local or regional, etc. Injuries aren't a big factor. Most guys quit food service because the work is too much to handle. A lot of the older vets I worked with (50 and up) made it look easy.
