Wow, what a crazy journey it’s been! Thank you to Josh for being such an incredible collaborative partner and brother (yes we are actual brothers) and thanks to all of you for your amazing support over the years. This is a big change after six years on the Brothers Green Eats channel and it didn’t feel right to just move on without sharing a little bit about what I’ve been going through over the last few years as well as the changes that are coming to this channel. I’ll be releasing one video a day for the next week on the subject of change and transition and then I’ll be back to food content on Monday (I swear).

On the one hand, I do see why people don't feel the need for a 5-part series of videos explaining why Brother's Green is disbanding: most are here primarily for the food videos and that's what they want. However, viewers sometimes forget that Mike and Josh are also REAL PEOPLE, struggling with real life challenges. A 5 minute video just briefly touching on the bullet points of the breakup would feel like it is not doing justice to Mike, Josh and Brothers Green because it is something they struggled with personally behind the scenes WHILE they kept pumping out content over the past year(s). It might have been a bit chaotic and random at times, but that was also the beauty of it as we saw the dynamics between two brothers trying to collaborate and continue building something that was beautiful and worked for many years, but we were also witnessing a very relatable and inevitable facet of life unfolding where two people grow apart, struggle with accepting this and ultimately deciding to go their separate ways. Mike and Josh are the authentic part of KZbin that I enjoy watching, and if they want to share their stories of their personal journey (cooking-related or not) I'm here for that (cooking techniques and life lessons, what more can a girl ask for!?). They are showing us a part of them that is usually reserved for close friends and family: exposing their vulnerability and sharing their personal struggles with millions of people on KZbin. This is not easy. So, before you guys start sharing your (negative) opinion and feeling entitled that they should 'stick to the cooking videos cuz that's what I wanna watch', think about the real people who are creating these videos that you watch on KZbin and have some compassion with their personal journeys. Thank you, Josh and Mike for being true to yourselves and taking this big step and most of all, letting us be privy to this journey. I look forward to seeing how you both grow in your own ways! ❤️

It generates too much money to just throw it all away just because the channel is changing. I hope both brothers will have nice upcoming experiences, and hopefully people will be mature enough to understand that as viewers they are not entitled to anything. You watch if you like it and if not then watch some other video or head to another channel and opt for one of their videos that specific day the content here wasn’t a good fit.

Ryan Perrin well said. There seems to be an awful lot of discussion about preferring one style of content over the other and it’s unnecessarily divisive. While I have always appreciated Mike’s cooking chops, quality and penchant for learning, if the purpose of TBH was to INSPIRE LOVE FOR COOKING then for me it has been Josh’s optimistic attitude and “if you had fun cooking it it was worth it” approach - Cooking Technique VS Cooking Philosophy. This whole process has made me feel like I have to choose between these guys and it’s pretty clear to me who I’d rather hangout with. Sorry, man but the last few rounds of content are riddled with Mike taking passive aggressive judgements at his brothers approach. He blends it in with generic compliments but it’s paper thin. Maybe it’s because my brother and I are similar ages apart and I can relate to Josh as I am the older sibling and have the more gregarious personality between us.
@Ryan_Perrin

@@Harry-ju8yw I think both of them have definitely had that issue, but I'm sure it's hard. I'm still going to watch both, but probably Mike the most because I don't know that I care as much for the stuff Josh does on his other channel. Nothing against it, it's just not what I want. The sandwich and fermentation videos from Mike were amazing, and that's what I love about his stuff.

This split is called individuation. You both represent two different outlooks on the world, yin and yang, left and right brain, rational (organized) and imaginative/spiritual (spontaneous). I admire you how you could work together and create so much beautiful and yummy food. The energy that was created between you got this production started. That is of great value. You BOTH are equally valuable. I hope you keep in touch, there is so much more to come.

@@ProHomeCooks Any time bro, I can relate to a lot of the things you said in this video. Have owned my own business for the past 12 years, a supplement and vitamin retail store. With Amazon killing off our industry I have hung on for dear life and created small studio kitchen in the back of our store to do youtube videos about my true passion since I was a kid which was cooking. We are at the end of our rope and can no longer hold off the inevitable with our business having to close down soon. I am forced to adapt and put everything I got into our channel and doing uber eats and other deliveries on the side to pay my bills. It is a really menatlly tough transition and really hard to change when you have been doing something every day for 12 years. I would go to our store and open every morning 7 days a week. Actually, I think it's great that you're exploring this. No matter the age, we all go through these growth and change periods. And I for one enjoy listening to people talk about going through these transitions. And it's nice, isn't it, that those of us growing and evolving aren't alone in these journeys? To each their own, but I don't think this is overkill. I appreciate the thoughtfulness here. It's the same level of thoughtfulness you put in your cooking.

I've followed Brothers Green for years and it really did make a huge difference in my home cooking confidence. I'm a lot more improvisational, and love experimenting with different foods and methods of cooking, and a lot of that, I think, is due to you guys. Thanks for everything you've done over the years to inspire home cooking and for keeping the channel going. I love the evolution that you've brought forward! Keep it up!

I feel sad reading some of the comments here... I understand people come for the food, but Mike and Josh are people too. Two brothers doing this for years and years under the scrutiny of millions of people. It takes a lot of physical, mental and emotional capacity to do so and endure. I followed you from Hungry and was ecstatic to find out you brothers had your own channel. I was in college and your videos mean a lot to me, taught me so many things. I noticed how different the two of you were, and watched you brothers change, grow and interact and react differently over the years. I started to really realise you guys are people when there's marriage and you guys started living apart, doing your own thing, then Josh made his healing videos and talked about his journey and now this. Both of you are probably a few years older than me so it freaked me out a little how stark changes could be in life. It's like looking in a mirror of the future of what it might be for me. I mean, to embrace real life, observe how relationships change, getting out of comfort zones, battling our inner selves and things like that. I applaud you brothers' courage in facing all this. If talking it out into a multi episode series is what you guys need to be better and stay strong, then please do so. I wish you brothers a beautiful journey ahead. Stay safe, healthy and always strive for your happiness. Much love ♥.

I know this is 2 years ago. But I recently found this channel, and as I’m diving deeper into it, I’m suddenly watching some college content, and I was thinking to my self what a major (positive) shift and more natural it is to see you on your own - though it was fun to hear you two ping pong - It’s so obvious now that this was the best thing to happen. Probably for both of you. Anyways, I’m so glad I found this channel, you inspired me to actually start cooking. I’m a young dad of 2 girls and they deserve better than my inspiring lacking food. I’m really gratefull. Thanks for you. Regards

I used to love watching the food network, and cooking channel. I wanted to learn how to be a good home chef. I find that I don't learn anything from those shows. They generally only show competitions. I have no interest in that stuff, so I just stopped watching. I discovered KZbin about a year ago, and found exactly what I needed. There are so many great shows, like yours that teach me how to cook the basics, and how to make something complicated. Thanks for putting out great content and teaching us the lost art of cooking.

I enjoyed the videos with you both the most but did watch the solo project videos y’all did as well. Good luck to the both of you and hope both channels are a huge success. Subscribed now to both and look forward to the content you guys will provide.
