The year was 1985....the music genre was synth-pop.....the video animation technique was called rotoscoping....and the tremendous lead singer was Morten Harket!.....with all that combined, this song and video never gets old!

Not early 90's - not late 80's - The Song was written by the guys from a-ha in 1982 and called "Lesson One", then another Version "All's well that ends well and moves with the sun" and comes from the Band Bridges, Magne Furholmen (Keyboarder & the writer of the original Song) and Per Waaktaar-Savoy (Guitar) are member of this band. After Morten Harket (Voice) joined them the name changed to "The Poem" and shortly after, all in 1982 to "a-ha". Then in Januar 1983 the band goes from Norway to London, England and signed with WEA Records. In early 1984 the first single "take on me" comes out. This was another Version of the song you heard and they only sold 300 pieces. Only at the third attempt, another single was released in the meantime, and with the video made up of comics and real film, which was then also shown on heavy rotation on MTV, there was worldwide success. Fun fact: the girl in the video, Bunty Bailey, later became Morton Harket's girlfriend in real life as well. Greetings from Germany, i always enjoy you when you enjoy good music and sorry for my bad english.

The "Technology" used to make the Video is called "Rotoscoping" and it wasn't new since the technique dates back to the 1890's and was used to make the first Silent movies. What is incredible is that every frame you see in the video had to be hand drawn from a film to create that effect. Now Computers do all of these Graphics. By the way A-Ha has 2 other videos that use this technique "Train of Thought" & " The Sun Always Shines on TV" so go check them out too!

The graphic effect is call rotoscoping. The technique goes back to the 1880s!(Not a typo). It is basically tracing over each frame of a film. According to Wiki..."Approximately 3,000 frames were rotoscoped, which took 16 weeks to complete."
