The technology used to make the video : Rotoscope : is actually very old, being invented in 1880. That's not a typo, eighteen eighty. It is made by drawing over the pictures of each frame of the film, and is extremely labor intensive. That part of this video alone took 16 weeks to do.

first of all thankyou for reacting to AHA i became an AHA fan back in 1985 when this video and song were released. I was 16 years old then and i’m 53 now and still a huge fan. AHA are a trio of very talented men from Oslo, Norway. They are criminally unappreciated and underrated. They have a huge back catalogue of music take on me is just the tiny tip of a very very large musical iceberg. Every AHA song is completely different from the last one. I describe AHA as the viking invasion of 1985 that penetrated my heart and soul and never left. Don’t just take my word for it i suggest you check out more of AHA’s music for yourself and you’ll get what i mean. Take care, from a scottish AHA fan. 😘🏴🇳🇴❤️ #AHA FOREVER🇳🇴❤️

Everything real was videotaped. Everything drawn was also first videotaped. It took them 16 WEEKS of working 10-12 hours a day to "rotoscope" reality into drawings. The imagination to conceive of this plot and create a visual representation back in 1985 must have been truly groundbreaking.

If you didn’t know how they did this remember very little computers were used to make movies and videos: the model (actress) the members of AHA had to act out the scenes while a photographer or videographer filmed the scenes. Then every frame or picture was printed individually. Then they had to take tracing paper. Put it on the photo and trace that part of the clip. Then they would put them together like a cartoonist would after drawing one frame at a time and the real scenes were spliced into and even cut into what was drawn. Disney had really hard jobs years ago doing color cartoons. But yeah tracing paper.

You never hear his name with Steve Perry + Freddie Mercury as among the GOAT singers. But Morten belongs here! 😃 The actress later appears in To Be a Lover with Billy Idol. 🇬🇧 In the Solid Gold performance, Gina Schock from The Go-Go's played the drums. Sample. Pitbull wrote a rap + sampled Take on Me. Suggested sampled song: Pitbull, Christina Aguilera + Morten Harket perform Feel This Moment. Suggested next a-ha song: Train of Thought.
