You are 1000% correct about heat on hair! Idc WHAT type of heat protector you use, your hair will undoubtedly get damaged. I wash my hair weekly with a co wash, followed by a leave in conditioner and massage argon oil on scalp … I do use a bit of gel for edges and baby hair. Other then that I try not to do too much … it needs to heal after MANY yrs of heat/chemical abuse. I have a big head too so a big chop is not an option lol

Great advice. I remember I used to perm my hair years ago and gradually it started breaking off and my hair barely touched my shoulders. I stopped relaxing my hair, stop flat ironing my hair, and now my hair is to the end of my back.

Heres what I do: i wash my hair once a week with liquid african soap, no shampoo. Then I put straight organic castor oil in my strands while the hair is moist. If I flat-twist my hair I'll put peppermint or rosemary on the ends. I massage my scalp and sleep on a satin pillowcase. I also use a water mist bottle before I go to bed. It all works for me. Lofi, how how do you keep your hair from frizzing in humidity??

I go 6 months with out heat because of the weather. It’s a waste of time to straighten hair during hot weather.

I stopped putting heat on my hair since 2017 used to curl and straighten my hair but i have naturally straight hair but i dont even take extremely hot showers no more only Lukewarm water to open the pores and cleanse my scalp and rinse with cold water so the conditioner can really get the pores

Good video. I used to Flat Iron my hair. Did for a year and I started to realize how lifeless it looked. Straight but it looked like hay strings. I stopped cold turkey in 2019 and have been on a healthy hair journey since. Found products that work and that is what I use only. It's so much more healthier and I'm so glad I stopped. I would have been bald right now if I hadn't stopped. The thing about hair is, it mends itself with proper care. Had to cut off the damage, little by little. Finally gave myself a bob cut and after that cut my hair started growing like nobodys business. I mean it grew fast. Been drinking lots of water too. Nah, heat is okay in moderation but the Flat Iron is not for me. I won't do that again. I cringe everytime I see a female using it.

I don't think my hair likes the heat or maybe it's the kind of flat iron I have. It's shedding right now. I use a heat protector too and it still shedding or breaking or whatever it's doing smh The next time I wash my hair I doubt I will use the flat iron and will just blow dry my hair and possibly braid it up.

try a silk press. I'm not sure if that's the same thing. it I hear it's wayy better than flat ironing

Yes as it is a very particular method that preserves the curl pattern and last a bit longer, but u still can go overboard and get heat damage by losing your curl pattern over time. They call it “heat trained” but it is technically damaged.
