I haven't been making art much anymore on my channel as you may have noticed. A few things behind that I explain in this video. One of those being I have actually been drawing - you just havent seen it yet! Other reasons being I'm burned out, KZbin and art isn't always the most fun combo. I love to make videos and I love to make art but there aren't a lot of times where I enjoy doing both together, so I tend to make videos that don't require me to paint on camera. Those don't even do too well anyway! I'd love to know what you enjoy most about my channel so I know what kind of content to go for in the future!

I’ve always thought of your channel as an “artist channel” rather than an “art channel.” The content I have loved the most from you has been about being an artist: trying new supplies, exploring art hacks, organizing your art stuff, learning a new artistic skill, etc. It’s about your journey and life as an artist, and you don’t have to show us your art to stay true to the heart of this channel

SO MANY KZbinrs are either quitting or scaling way back lately. I don't think the creators are to blame, I think YT keeps moving the goalposts on what will make channels successful or even keep them sustainable as a way for creators to earn a living. Hopefully they will stop putting their creators in impossible positions before the whole thing shuts down because only AI and bots can keep up with the system they created. Take care of yourself and keep making the content that brings you joy and fulfillment. Happy New Year.

100% agree! It’s so difficult to navigate now, and there are very few short videos by crafters or artists that really encapsulate the creative process and how stuff is created. Is the need for instant completion on arty/crafty videos part of the reason that AI art is now emerging and overwhelming online communities…?

@@creepycutiecrafty6637 i personally like seeing art/craft stuff in long form as you get to see the thought process of the creator, their struggles with the project.. Which makes the end result all the more satisfying to see. You cannot get all of this in a 60 sec short

I admit I’ve been really sad lately at how many of the creators I love are quitting or scaling back. I get why, and they have the right to do what they want with their lives, but I can’t say I’m not disappointed. I miss their videos, and I have not been able to replace a number of them. It’s always hard when people change in a way that makes you sad, whether you know them personally or not, but it’s kind of like your favorite TV show being canceled. It might be inevitable, but it’s still disappointing and sometimes you might feel like nothing will ever replace it. That’s where I am.

It's so true that making art for a video and for yourself are entirely different processes! One is quite meditative, the other is stressful because you have to worry about working with 30mins of camera battery, horrifically bright lights shining in your eyes and not naturally tilting the canvas etc haha! It's nice to see you're still making content after all these years, many people have burned out by now so do whatever you gotta to look out for your own mental wellbeing ❤- Steph

I love to watch the whole process of art being created. Please continue to make your incredible art, but also throw in the type of videos that get you maximum views, so hopefully most of your viewers and KZbin will be appeased But, first and foremost, put yourself first, take care of your mental and physical health above all else.

I also want to say that I have loved when u have done the art boxes. I don’t think it’s the boxes so much as seeing you do “a page” of a sketchbook or using a prompt to jump off of. Seeing you share your creativity through things like this or “projects” on designing/ organizing your space, or just hearing you think and verbalizing your creative process. Really what we love most is your personality and openness and just being you (so yes we loved the silly skits etc too).

Chloe, as a fellow artist I always try to let my clients and anyone else know that you have to take care of you first. We get so overwhelmed with the day to day, or even if we have large queues of things to do that sometimes we just need to step back and just take care of ourselves. Keep your chin up! Whatever content you decide to make, be it painting, crocheting or opening cool supplies, those who are here who care about you you are, will remain here. :) I've been following your channel since pretty much the beginning and it has been fun to see all of your adventures. Art related or not. Its a new year and its time for a new you :D and I, for one, am excited to see where the year takes you!

I feel this all so deeply. It's SO HARD to figure out what to do as an artist even without taking KZbin into account. Honestly I like that you have a wide variety of content, so I feel like you're really doing things that seem fun to you at the time. Keep doing what strikes you as entertaining. Work on your shop. Heck, do some vids giving tips about what you learn through that process - site set up, advertising, etc. How do you decide how much of what inventory to get? I promise, whatever you put out, there's going to be somebody who loves it.

As a long time member of the KZbin art community, I am here for you Chloe. I know so many others are as well. I’ve witnessed this shift in art content throughout the years, and it truly breaks my heart because the art KZbin community inspired me so much. I truly believe it’s the reason I love art. I’ve seen this happen with all my favorite KZbin artists but at the end of the day, this is a job. You have to minimize your expenses (including expenses like stress, burn out, and your time) and maximize your profits, and that’s simply not possible making long form art content. We are here for you regardless Chloe. 💕

This is reminding me of the quote: "Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind". I started following you because I thought you were funny, relatable, and someone I could see myself being friends with in real life. It sucks losing subscribers, and I understand worrying about changing your content because of that. At the end of the day, I think doing what you find happiness in will draw people to your channel because it will be genuine. If some people unsubscribe just because they don't like that "you're not doing art anymore", I think they're missing out. I'm of the belief that you subscribe to a person first and foremost. It's just nice to see a nice person having fun and being happy no matter what kind of content you decide to make :)

"and my theory is that people have the attention span of a spoon"😂 I thought this was really funny so I wanted to add this quote, but I just wanted to say that it is more than okay to not make art in your videos because you are not feeling that spark you used to or the spark you feel when you don't do it in front of a camera. I do make art and I couldn't even imagine a fraction of what youtubers who post art deal with. I couldn't imagine having to think about what will make views, what are people gonna say about my art, or I hope a get a lot of views from this piece of art, or anything else. It is hard and especially harder when you are burnt out, making a book, getting married soon, dealing with health problems, and so much more. I don't know how long I have been watching you for but your videos are raw and I really enjoy that. Even when recently watching your arteza advent calendar video, I was wondering why you didn't make any art at the end of it with the supplies but it didn't bother me because I knew you probably had your reasons. I just want to say, don't feel pressured by your subscribers and that we will always enjoy your videos no matter what. You should be doing what you love and making what you love because that's what youtube is for, to share that joy. 💙

I found quite a few things on this channel that I ended up trying afterwards as well. It's not even necessarily about the art itself, but also about watching things I definitely can never get (too expensive or not buy-able here) or just to get ideas for myself. Also to find affordable art supplies that aren't too bad that I could look into buying. It's a bonus when you draw something with the supplies you got in a box or through a challenge, but it's not a necessity in my eyes.

I can, I think, tell when you're at your ease and really just enjoying what you're doing and being creative however that comes out. Whatever media that is. I'm so delighted that you're prioritizing yourself this year! I think your exploration of medium videos and trying new things and talking through the thought process of the decisions that you're making encapsulates that 'eclectic creative joy' that is so enjoyable, for me anyway. But, I'm here for whatever you want to try. Your videos are stress relief from work. I've been wanting to do the same for years, but it's always on the 'when I find time' backburner. Not much help for your questions, but you have my support any way you go!

Maybe this helps; I started to do KZbin to balance out the burnout from my work as an artist (specially commissions) maybe finding a completely different creative activity might help you! Maybe even crochet like Chloe! ❤ good luck it’s the worse feeling ever!

@@theillustratedauthordesign love that! I’m also planning to say more to commissions more this year and it’s so hard but I’m throwing myself into the hands of the universe! Your chanel is always fun! Painting or opening stuff, reviews, you are enjoyable to hangout with. I’ve seen every single video you’ve made and I’m still excited when I see a new video. I’m in my 40’s and one thing I am sure of is that having fun is literally overlooked all the time. It must be so so hard to try and please everyone and probably the weird guilt when you don’t get the views you like/need. Honestly, the stuff you are doing is great. Switch up what you feel like! Making things for your house, reviews are great, challenges… do what is fun for you and the people that are here for you, will still love it

Super excited to hear about your book. I like your videos where you try things out because you make it fun, not stressful. It inspires me to try new things without getting anxious. I’m not a fan of long content because I’m usually watching with my morning coffee so I don’t have much time. But I also want more than reels/shorts. And I love seeing process & finished works on Instagram.

I understand exactly where you are at. I loved the look of stain glass windows from childhood. One day in my late 20’s I took a class, I was hooked and I was good at it. Next thing you know I’m in business, teaching, retail, ever growing list of more and bigger and more complex commissions. I had to keep working while I was pregnant (like drawing & painting) it’s a hands on & labor intensive. I worked through recovery from an auto accident (on my way to deliver a church window). The church was content to wait but I had two other customers who threatened to sue if I didn’t deliver on time. There I am 1 day out of the hospital my mom and aunt foiling 2000 glass pieces for a lamp and me soldering with 1 hand, 1 day out of the hospital. One day after my second child was born, I woke up and JUST HATED IT! I picked up, packed up and moved out of my retail space. Took me more than a decade to recover mentally and emotionally. People can be snots. Now I am extremely selective on what commissions I take, charge extra for dealing with committees and give my self very long deadlines and avoid them when possible. Hang in there and please yourself. Those of us who follow “you” will stick. Trust me you can ultimately do without the snots.

Happy that you are taking control and going in a direction you want. PCOS is a struggle and those dang cortisol levels can be impossible, but it’s also nice to see that there is hope! Excited to see what comes next!

Hiya Chloe - I am one of those viewers, who just lurks, and watches quietly! BUT I felt compelled to say "hi"! I started watching your channel, after doing a search for left handed art tutorials. Your channel came up, and whilst your content is not tutorial based - your vids did give me the confidence to pick up a pencil after years of school and other people telling me my art was **** not good! And now, at the time I was pushing 40! I can just enjoy what I create, however it turns out and the process of creating, thank you. I enjoy your arty stuff, and the mix of content means I also get to see what products are out there, and are they any use to me. I mainly use pencils and pens, but do get deeply inspired seeing other mediums. I have also come to enjoy your personality. I get a cuppa tea, and sit down its like spending time with a friend. Again, I thank you. Art takes such a long time to create, and if you are having to stop every line to film, it can suck the joy right out of things. As creators finding the balance of what you want to create and appeasing the almighty algo' is a tricky one from what i see of big channels... I am very early in my journey back to trying to find my confidence to create - No way I would ever think of doing an art channel though. My passions are elsewhere. (Art is such a vast subject, that I have many hobbies in this space!) Life gets in the way, for sure (its a struggle), I empathise, I really do I see how hard you work, and your shop and being seen, and trends, etc. Its exhausting. Your real audience (not the fare weather audience) will be with you whatever you get up to. We are here for it. For you, and your wonderful personality. Never stop, keep going, in whatever direction you want to go.. A mix like you are currently doing is great. I started watching you, around 2019. You made me feel welcomed and less alone, so thank you for that. affirmation for the day - never give up, never surrender. Have yourself a wonderful weekend. (Oh congrats on the engagement, wishing you every blessing)

I love your channel BECAUSE you don’t make art every time! There are so many channels out there just doing art tutorials but what I love is you being a bit different, talking about being an artist, discovering art supplies, unboxing, trying out kits, or just being you! Nothing is more important than your health and doing what you enjoy and reducing stress is part of good health. Just do what you do - your community loves you. 💚

I'm so sorry that your art videos aren't as popular and aren't getting views. I love your art and videos where you paint especially the Disney ones like the Tangled wall. As artist and someone who has a lot of hobbies I definitely understand burn out and needing to step back and take time away. You should make content that you love and not feel pressured to do something that might stress you out more. I'm glad you discovered crocheting that sounds like so much fun. I also have PCOS and other medical issues so I know the struggle and stress that comes with that. If you need to take some time away to focus on your wedding or just to step away from the pressure of KZbin that's okay. You're amazing and your art is incredible and all your videos are enjoyable whether they have art or not. Thank you for being open and honest with everything you are going through and have been through. You're doing an incredible job. Also I had no idea you drew Dean Winchester that's so cool. I met Jensen and a few other Supernatural cast members when I participated in GISH which was hosted by Misha Collins. I hope you are having a good start to your new year and congratulations again on your upcoming wedding. I hope you are doing well and I hope you have a wonderful day.
