Why I don't use Kliplok roofing

In Australia, we have low pitched roofs. Our standard solution for flat roofs is the 'Kliplok' profile metal roof sheet. The reason we call it Kliplok - is that Lysaght pioneered this roof profile for use on flat roofs. It started off with the 'Kliplok 406'. This was a 406mm wide roof sheet with two drainage pans.
Other roofing manufacturers followed suit and produced 'copycat' roof sheets (with their own names). But by this time, all Australians got to know ALL these types of roof sheet profiles as plain KLIPLOK...
When Lysaght introduced their new 700mm wide 'Kliplok 700' roofing profile to replace the pioneering Kliplok 406, the other manufacturers followed suit.
Now, we have standardised the use of 700mm wide KLIPLOK styled roof sheets for all our flat roofs.
But the Lysaght KLIPLOK 700 front runner has a major design fault.

Exactly what happened to me! When on to roof to pressure wash, over time started leaking causing an electrical shortage realised after a year. your videos are very educational and hope you pass on your expertise down on to others. thanks so much Jack!

I always tell my roofers to walk where the purlins are or pay for the damaged sheets.

Fair enough. I have experienced the failure that you showed. We would stand on the purlin to receive and lay the next sheet anyway; which is preferable and safer anyway. I just love the speed and ease of laying speed deck ultra. But there's another popular and cheaper one available now (with the little ripple marks ( I forget it's name sorry).

What's the price difference, if any, between the products? Surely an extra batten or 2 to bring down the spacings to 1200 or even 900 would resolve the issue too right?

Great demo. What do you prefer to use for battens? I'm finding it hard to buy untreated pine battens in Sydney. Is it better to use metal battens?

We do t have this problem in NZ as we can’t put purlins more than 900 apart.

Yeah but New Zealand generally does things better than in Australia. Bit more rational with far less hysteria it seems.

Not familiar with the Stratco product, but i do know that Metroll have a similar final rib on their 'Metlok' sheet, is rock solid. I would still say the Lysaght product is my favourite to lay though, interlocking clips mean that if you set up that first sheet 100% you are off to the races. 100LM of perfectly straight gutter line vs having to shrink and stretch clips on all the other products i have used..
