Why I Fitted Rockfox Crash Bars on a R1200GS Adventure | DON'T Trust the OEM 💩

Do not trust the OEM crash bars on your old airhead BMW R1200GS Aventure. They barely stick out past the cylinder head covers and won't help in a drop. Rather get yourself a good set of aftermarket crash bars.

Totally agree on the crashbars, I went for aftermarket ones. They wrap around like your Rockfox. They give much better protection than the original (I have the GSA OEM from a crashed bike but find them way too thin/light).

100% The OEM ones are just cosmetic in my opinion.

Hi mate, Just bought an old 2012 triple black 1200 adv. Thought the same as you. Ill drop it. Looked on net and found Heed add on crash bars from Poland. Bought them and fitted them. Brilliant solution.

When doing valve clearences, you need to remove this crash-bar again? Keep up the good work with your channel!

Yes, unfortunately you have to. But luckily it takes two minutes to remove and replace the bars. I did a video on valve clearance two weeks ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqfHl5mmrJqffac Thanks for the support!
