The reason why people are made to feel embarrassed about doing things alone is because there is a mistaken belief that if you are always surrounded by others that must mean you are the most intelligent, the most friendly and the most fun person in the world. Unfortunately society favors extroverts and you are judged as a person by how many people you draw into your orbit.

Well, I'm pretty much the same as you. But remember, even if you've got nobody, you'll always have yourself. So make sure that you become strong enough to take care of the person who is literally one body and soul with you. In life we will always have solely ourselves to rely on, the person who shall always be there for you is, in the end you.

I have a girlfriend I love, close friends and family...but I still hit up the movies, the bar, go on hikes, etc...alone. There's something therapeutic about it that trails back to me as a loner since being an adolescent. I'd even dip out of parties just so I could enjoy the ride home alone listening to music lol

I'm going to the movies along tomorrow to watch the premiere of the Lion King in the morning. I'm actually excited to be alone, I'm always with people when I'm out but this will be the first time ever. Wish me luck! I go alone because i have no true friends everyone I've ever met has shut me out from there click or friend circle so stay to myself i go out and do things with family but even family don't want to do things with me when i want to so i know how it feels to be alone and wanting to be alone

Joe Terrance universe why do you feel the need to have friends or to go with someone? Is it because you want others(parents, family, colleagues) to see you as someone like them? Or is it because you have been taught your whole life that its the way of the world to enjoy the simple things in life(movies, games, restaurants) ? I may sound harsh, but I promise Im not trying to bash you. If you work on yourself long enough, you may be more inclined to reach to certain types of people or go to certain places where evntually you will make some connections. I hate making plans to go to the movies with someone and then they flake at the last minute or try to postpone. It would happen often enough that I stopped trying really. Now I just tell whoever that I'm going to see this movie at this time, but I also listen to how I feel when the time comes and'll wait until a little later if I feel like it. Other thing, it's easier for me to take in my own appreciation of the movie when I go alone. I hate steady talkers as well as people that vocalize what they think they see coming.

Well said, I'm recently retired, yoga teacher and LMT, I must say I actually cherish my alone time, I enjoy all the time l have to enjoy my garden, watching movies, read, whatever I feel like it, always enjoy your own company if you can't and you can enjoy being with others that's my thought for the day.

It’s not bad to be alone at all tbh I just recently moved to USA like a year ago from Germany and I accomplished so much in my Optionen found a good job got my first car saving up for a apartment and so on ... so what i mean is if you spent time by yourself you get yourself like knowing better what kinda person you are and what goals you got and it’s pretty cool how everything is working out without any friends because you know no body helped you .

As an only child, I always did things by myself. I rarely had the feeling of missing out. Even tho I have friends & a girlfriend, I still do things by myself if I have to. I go to the movies alone all the time for two reasons. First, because I *LOVE* being alone!!!! Second, my friends are always busy.

Loved this! Exactly why I have been going mostly by myself. I can take time and enjoy the movie theater atmosphere as I walk in. Look at the cardboard cutouts and movie posters for as long as I want, smell the delicious popcorn and just be in awe with it all. Then pick a seat wherever I want and enjoy the movie in the way you have perfectly explained. Oh, and I have been doing this for 20 years now AND have kept ALL of my movie tickets!

Here’s a tip for introverts making friends. Be yourself, don’t try to hard just try as hard as you would if you weren’t scared of being judged (even though you most likely are, this will go away with practice) just ask questions if you don’t know what to say. People love to answer questions about themselves and their lives and it usually makes for great conversation. Nobody cares about you! (In a good way) nobody is watching your every move and judging you. Most people are pretty self interested so that mistake you just made? They probably didn’t even notice and if they did they most likely understand the struggle themselves.

I’m a loner! Go to the movies, out to eat you name it alone! I have friends and enjoy them from tome to Rome but most of my time is a lone and you do get more things done. I belong to AMC Stubs program and you get three free movies a week. Having the theatre alone , beautiful!!!!

I don’t mind having me time, but I still feel uncomfortable going to the movies or eating alone. Mostly due to the fact that I want to share these experiences with others and I feel sad if I’m not. EG When a superhero movie comes out I’m definitely seeing it with my dad So can talk about it after...or during lol.

Very enlightening video. It’s good for people to enjoy being with themselves. I love to motorcycle ride by myself, ride where I want as fast or slow as I feel like. Come back when I please. Being a woman I keep my 38 on me but I encourage folks to get out and live their lives doing what they love!

I often go out to lunch by myself.. I enjoy the quiet while making plans & people watching. Many times I'm asked by the hostess "just you or are you alone"? I eventually started saying, party of one please! 😃 followed by a Wooo hoo!!

It really depends on the personality of a person. If you're an introvert like me. I'm happy being alone but an extroverted person cannot do that. He'll be sicked being alone. That's why introverted persons are more artistic and creative. Our careers are either in arts or music and most of us are romantic and thinking of what others might say about us or we are very self conscious.
