The straw that broke the camel's back was having to travel 1 hour plus to go over to a friend's place, when it's a 20mins ride.

Was deadass giving up on practical 7 during my class 2b in bbdc (unable to u turn properly) But the freedom of going anywhere you like, the sound of the motorcycle accelerating when you throttle, That excitement of doing something slightly dangerous yet fun giving that adrenaline rush. pushed me to pass my class 2b on 31/1. If you are still taking your class 2b, Listen properly to the instructor advices and practice your skill, You do not want to pass your license with luck, Instructor will not be there to guide you, to halt the traffic for you. increase your perception, judgement skill and ride safely! Keep going, chase that license relentlessly. The aftertaste will be much sweeter!

Very well said bro! I love what you just said, especially giving oneself a chance at least once in this lifetime. I'm not Singaporean, I'm Malaysian. Motorcycle prices are definitely 10x cheaper here than in Singapore, but that aside. Something I can relate is the unfortunate case of family disapproval, especially when my dad was still alive, my parents have motorcycle licence themselves but when it comes to us, they're so motorphobia, I wanted to start riding in my 20s due to the necessity for work in the press but still my dad wouldn't allow. (This mentality seems to be more commonly found in Malaysian Chinese, which is very unfortunate) Fast forward to the current time, in my mid 30s, after coming back from Taiwan, I decided to take up riding. You're so right, it's so liberating and refreshing, even though I'm still on my L licence, the first time I rode to work, I never wanted to drive my car to work ever again, I always got stuck in the jam and the air-conditioning isn't helping to keep me alert, often fall asleep and nearly got into accidents. With riding a motorcycle, I never feel sleepy because the wind rushing through is so cooling and refreshing. My mum who is still alive finally sees the joy in me riding rather than complaining daily when I was driving. Of course, there are cons, which you've mentioned, but I'm glad I finally gave myself a chance to break free from my dad's phobia. I don't think one need to be riding a superbike to be considered passionate, I own a scooter motorbike and also learn to ride the underbone streetbike, the most common bike in Malaysia, the joy of riding is just indescribable just like you mentioned. For me also, it's finally fulfilling a dream I was never allowed to, never too late. Another point you didn't mention is riding opens up new job opportunities, especially in the area of delivery. I know in Singapore, delivery companies have walker/cyclist options, but in Malaysia, other than Foodpanda, the others only open to motorcycles, even then, it's harder to earn with Foodpanda walker option. This job opportunity for riders is true in many countries.

I enjoyed this video. I've been considering getting a Class 2B license because of the practicality and time savings - going to work by public transport takes 1 hour (change bus and MRT) and if I had a bike it would take about 20 minutes. Never considered bikes until I tried taking GrabBike/Motorbike taxis in Vietnam.

Love your sharing. I got my 2B license, but I am owning a bike due to the high cost. I had the "go and try" mentality when I decided to take and eventually got my 2B license. Like you shared, the journey to get a 2B license was tough and needed a lot of commitments.

why not try second hand bikes?

@@thederrickliew It's the depreciation; you could do a video showing why second hand prices doesn't make sense. The depreciation of new bikes are less than used at times.
