Just a quick note, I'm not trying to insinuate that you can't get both quality and quantity. So sorry if you watched this and I made it confusing on that avenue. I'm simply stating that I focus on quality and do not focus on quantity at all. Also, this is just my current strategy. If you look back at some of my older videos (particularly on my main KZbin channel) you will see I have grown larger plants in the past. This is just how I currently do it. What's your grow strategy?

Small plants can yield plenty for a working person who only grows for personal use. 2 plants scrogged out in a 30"x30" space under a 400w HPS typically yields out 10-12 ounces for me. That's a year's supply because I only smoke at night after I'm fairly confident I'll be home the rest of the night. I don't judge others, but I personally only smoke at home and only when my day is done. Everybody is different in how they consume and how they grow. :)

Similar story, my friend. This is my 50th year growing. Tried all growing different sizes, techniques, lighting. Now I’m back to the basics-quality seeds or clones, make your own supersoil by composting, start in a greenhouse with 1200ppm CO2 then outside to a deeply dug tiered bedding trenches. 5x4 size and strip away all the lower branches, inside leaves leaving only the last foot for larger, better formed and dense buds. I grow in a 4'x4' grow tent for my own use, just as you do, and I like to grow three plants at a time. I trim and shape the plants to keep them relatively small and so they get good lighting. Three small plants are the perfect fit for my tent and the yield is always enough to make me happy... 3-4 ounces per plant. Self-sufficiency is a wonderful thing!
@onetalentedman28224 жыл бұрын
I had an idea couple of years ago about using the walls of my grow tent for extra, vertical grows. Using aluminium large cans, Remove top with tin opener then put several hundred holes in the sides and bottom of each, can using a dart or braddle. These holes leave sharp edges on the inside of can that trim the roots as the plant grows. The results have been strong bushy small cannabis plants that reward me with 20/30 grams of bud per plant. So in my small grow tent I have 4 large cannabis plants, growing using the floor space with 6/9 smaller plants growing vertically on the walls of the grow tent using no more lights and just a little more work as my vertical plants are turned twice a day when I water them. I allso only use slow release nutrieants on the vertical growing plants so not to have water all over my tent and electrical equipment in my grow tent. I've never seen any other cannabis grower use even a similar method. Use that wasted space in your grow tents for amazing rewards saving time, and electric allso on each grow as production is doubled. Certainly the way forward.

Thanks for the video and info, I am just finishing my first yield in a new indoor setup. Balancing how much and what I am growing while learning the basics of managing the crop has been a steep learning curve. I figured the minimum yield should cover at least the amount of time it took to grow it so that it is sustainable. And I do like variety and quality equally, both should be HIGH. I am still discerning the most efficient way to maintain a healthy crop throughout the grow cycle.

Thank you chris. Im new to growing and your awesome guy. Cool brother. I am going the same route, small plants, high quality, home grown. Im learning alot from you. Popped mandarin cookies auto flower. I dont have a sophisticated ventilation system but having 2 fans seems to be effective. Ultimate goal is to be a grower who yields around 100 grams per plant and have it be the highest quality. I also want to film each plant and document its growth in slow motion. Henrys camera store seems like a cool shop. Ive done some weird experiments with cannabis and its my new hobby that i cannot get enough of. I once used a straw to remove the middle part of a banana, i thought i was giving the plant potassium by putting the banana directly next to the roots. lol. unbelievably a banana leaf started to grow. im not sure what i was doing but im hooked. Ive got a simple setup and im just learning how to maintain the temperature and humidity by using fans , water , and having backups in case the electronics fail. at the moment i have other plants in my tent, im excited to grow food as well inside my apartment. Hey man, personally I grow "small" plants as well. I do maximize the use of my space, trying to always at least fill a tent corner to corner with bud sites; but I balance that with a strong focus on the quality of the smoke. I definitely feel you on keeping your plant size and count within what you can personally consume. Happy growing!✌🏼💚🌱

This is exactly what I do I only grow for myself and sometimes share with friends my goal is also 2 to 3 ounces per plant of top shelf

I honestly like the way you do it. About a pound is all I need every 6 months but right now honestly I'm just trying to learn how to do it right love the channel thanks

Small plant fan here. Biomass means little to us. We screen off at 14-16" (train them out not up) and put into flower after a very short veg cycle. In my own experience keeping at this size and focus on keeping trimmed to allow airflow gets the perfect ratio of quality/quantity. Growing mostly 50/50 Hybrid at around 3-3.5oz per plant. Cheers

You're describing exactly what I do, except I only grow 2-3 plants at a time, around 2' tall. So I would have to completely agree with your methodology. I first tried controlling growth/size back in the 80's. Just recently getting back into it.

I do about a 6 -7 week veg. Im focused on quality in the end. I usually let the plants tell me when they are ready. Looking at leaves, structure, and signs of sex. Once I get these factors set. I can flip to flower. I LST and top my plants to increase top buds (my favorite smoke). I dont need many many pounds i can smoke through it fast enough. I do have patients I grow for as well. I also like different strains too! Great video Growbro!

When I started out, I realized early on it was much simpler and less dangerous to go the Organic route, feed the soil and let the soil feed your plants, you don't run into as many issues that are common with bottled nutes.

Your first harvest doesn’t start til you’ve pulled three crops out the ground then count your third as actually your first bc the first two most times will always be learning curves and fine tuning what works for you

I am new to growing organically. But i am an experienced gardener and i grow entirely for QUALITY. I would rather get the very best from a plant, and i totally agree with you as to growing multiple strains when growing for personal use. I get used to a strain easily and it stops having the same impact after the first ounce. So i grow em like bonsia, and keep em tiny. Im really into heavey handed training so have to be a little choosy on the genetics LOL

Why not go for yield and quality brother, that’s my philosophy...utilize the space efficiently but don’t over crowd. Quality is however more important to me than yield. Then when I have more than I can get through as you’ve mentioned that’s when my friends get lots of gifts which boomerangs back around when I need favours haha. Happy growing dude 🤜🏼🤛🏼

and that boys and girls is why you need to know facts before you comment, small plants is going to become the prefer choice for the personal consumer, living in apartment. if you can autoflower and yield enough for 1 consumer why have a plant 8 ft tall and occupying your whole bathroom.. .. Respect to you Chris , have learned allot from u man, thanks for the solid info , Piece!!..

2 plants, 2x4 tent a little over a pound yielded in my last grow. To be fair, I killed it that grow and I am not always that successful. It was 🔥 too! Copper chem and trainwreck, manifold training with lollipop and TLC. They took a little longer than I hoped with all the HST but in the end I was extremely happy. This grow I'm killing it so far, about 3 weeks to harvest, results.. time will tell. So far, so good. Thanks for all the helpful information. I take it where I can get it, even though I feel I've mastered it, there's always something to learn. Example: I just found out about ponytailing

every two to three weeks I aim to put another plant into the flowering room! to achieve a well-balanced staggered yield! sometimes this means I must sacrifice size and yield potential. but with the diversity in terps and bud even with clones in the mix, it's well worth it. (Flowering space is only a 2x4 closet veg tent is CLOUDLAB 632, 36" X 20" X 62"

Those tents have enough space for large plants if you use led/cobs... "I may have seen" someone currently using a classic lumatek digital powered 400w Hps and older HTG led 540w 2.0 with 3burned out pods/ballasts in their tent. They just rearranged the pods in the 6pod fixture to spread a 3pod lateral line to fill in the tent's light gap..... 2-3 300-500watt equivalent lights should fill up your space with room to walk around it on one side... Said person might be using a 4x4 for bloom with a 2x4 tent for veg/clones.... Said bloom chamber might have plants 2-3weeks apart in bloom cycle to keep a steady rotation of veg plants out of the limited chamber..................... . Said person might suggest having a 9-11 vegging clones MAX in a 2x4 chamber with a small cheap clone/garden off to the side, inside for rooting clones...... Said person might say that would fill up the bloom chamber within about month after the first plant goes to bloom and stay perpetual. Said person might also add that it will allow better calendar periods without the need to track bloomdays. It might also be said there is a noticable difference in resin production of plants under Blurple vs HPS.. meaning UV does play a valuable role in resin production just be wary of the health risks of adding independent UV lights.. . Said person might be handwatering using a sprayer and a cocobased soil-less medium, fertilizing with foxfarms.. By eye pouring then ph corrected using no more then 3drops to turn down the heat(phup/blue). As a stable determinate of PPM without the need of using a measuring tool which they do posses. . Said person shys away from flushing agents as the PH is sooooo acidic by the time its PH corrected it feels sketchy adding it anything... Instead he might opt to use Myco innoculations and ro/corrected water during flush. As he dont fert heavy he runs water untill it pours out for about a gallon. either reusing or discarding the drip onto earlier staged blooming plants. With humidity being low because of the HID light which is a hottie he will end up with acouple minor flushes before harvest allowing the plant to eat up whats remaining over the course of the flush without dying off too fast. . . Said person might also warn...... to spray off your plants with clean water prior to harvest with enough time to vape off the moisture... As fertilizer atomizes in the air when sprayed or using hydrophonic misters. If youve ever watered plants and your legs, hands ect feel cooler.. Thats fert water in the air.... Spray your buds as Rot should NOT be a factor indoors where humidity is always a struggle to raise and theres ZERO excuse to smoke fertilizer that got misted onto your plants accidentally. ^^^^^ This accidental spray is also what ppl mistakenly contribute to bad flushes or lower quality grows... Resins will overpower the taste but it will be felt in the harshness. The manures and bird discards in many ferts are very rough on ppl with low immunites.. like people that dont eat enough/right when having depression or other issues that end up effecting their immunity.. So the dangers encompass more people then what most people envision are at risk. When it comes to medical bud.. A showered plant is important. . Said person might also warn AGAINST NEEMOIL... Neemoil, Azamax ect impregnats plant tissue and grows with it.. Its a natural antiseptic that can cause a reaction in some people or build up in their system....... It would also be warned AGAINST the use of Gognats which uses cedar-oils that can cause seizures, confusion and other neurological issues in people.

100% - I grow small for many of the same reasons. Smaller form factor is super convenient, and it's easy to get rock hard nugs up and down the entire plant...
